Destiny 2 | Season of the Splicer | All New Weapons and How to Get Them

Season of the Splicer has brought tons of new content to Destiny 2, the most important being all-new weapons. Every new activity has at least a couple of Season of the Splicer new weapons tied to it, so there’s plenty of hunting to go around.

In this article, I’m going to list the most relevant new weapons, tell you how to get them, and explain their optimal uses throughout the season.

New Vault of Glass Weapons

The biggest addition to Destiny 2 this season is without a doubt the return of the Vault of Glass. VoG is a fan-favorite raid from the first Destiny, and many people have been desperate for the return of both the raid itself and its weapons.

Vex Mythoclast

  • How To Acquire: Random drop from the last encounter of VoG
  • God Roll: Since it’s an exotic, the rolls are always the same.

Mythoclast is the exotic weapon from VoG, but unfortunately it’s not very good. It’s definitely a weapon worth getting since it might get buffed soon, but for now, the only real reason to have it is to flex on those who don’t.

Fatebringer

Fatebringer

  • How To Acquire: Drops from the 3rd and 4th encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Full Bore / Accurized Rounds or Tactical Mag / Rewind Rounds or Explosive Payload / Firefly

Fatebringer is one of the strongest hand cannons in the game right now, especially if you get a good roll on it. Of all the VoG options, this might be the best all-new Season of the Splicer weapons.

Praedyth’s Revenge

  • How To Acquire: Drops from the 2nd and 5th encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Fluted Barrel / Tactical Mag / Rewind Rounds or Osmosis / Frenzy or Firefly

Praedyth’s Revenge is an incredible sniper rifle that benefits from its versatility. It rivals the raid staple Succession, and has high potential in Nightfall strikes due to Osmosis.

Vision of Confluence

  • How To Acquire: Drops from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Fluted Barrel or Smallbore | Appended Mag or Ricochet Rounds | Rewind Rounds | Firefly

Vision of Confluence is an all-round good scout rifle, but my favorite thing about it is ricochet rounds. This perk isn’t amazing in general, but it’s a nice option to have if you’re still farming Deep Stone Crypt. Firefly is also pretty amazing, too.

Found Verdict

Found Verdict

  • How To Acquire: 1st, 2nd, and 4th encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Rifled Barrel or Full Choke / Tactical Mag or Assault Mag / Rewind Rounds or Auto-Loading Holster / One-Two Punch or Vorpal Weapon

Found Verdict is a very strong shotgun. It has a wide variety of perks, and can be useful in almost any situation. It’s also very viable in PvP if you don’t already have one of the best shotguns already available there.

Corrective Measure

Corrective Measure

  • How To Acquire: 1st, 3rd, and 5th encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Polygonal Rifling | Tactical Mag | Feeding Frenzy or Subsistence | One For All or Firefly

Corrective Measure isn’t the most flashy heavy machine gun, but it’s solid. Having access to both Firefly and One For All on this type of gun can be excellent in the right situations, so give it a shot and see how it works for you!

Hezen Vengeance

  • How To Acquire: 4th and 5th encounters of VoG
  • God Roll: Hard Launch or Quick Launch / Impact Casing or Black Powder / Tracking Module, Auto-Loading Holster, or Overflow / Vorpal Weapon or Cluster Bomb

What I love about Hezen Vengeance is how many ways you can use it. It’s good for boss DPS, kill swarms of enemies, or even PvP. With how many good perks it can have, this is one of the most versatile rocket launchers in the game.

New Override and Seasonal Weapons

Outside of VoG, there are plenty of other new weapons in Season of the Splicer to acquire. There are a lot of these tied to the Override game mode and the seasonal engrams, which you can get easily through Override. Let’s take a look at the best of them now!

Ignition Code

Ignition Code

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Linear Compensator or Quick Launch / Spike Grenades / Ambitious Assassin or Slideshot / Vorpal Weapon or Demolitionist

Ignition Code is one of my favorite new weapons. The fact that it’s a kinetic grenade launcher is already great, but its perks and stats make it even better. For kinetic grenade launchers, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Chroma Rush

Chroma Rush

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Arrowhead Break or Hammer-Forged Rifling / Accurized Rounds or Tactical Mag / Heating Up or Feeding Frenzy / Kill Clip or Rampage

Chroma Rush is a much better assault rifle than I originally thought. It has balanced stats, great perks, and it just feels good to use. It’s one of the best Override weapons by far.

Gridskipper

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Arrowhead Break or Smallbore / High-Caliber Rounds or Ricochet Rounds / Killing Wind or Heating Up / High-Impact Reserves or Multikill Clip

Gridskipper is one of the more overlooked new weapons from this season. It isn’t a flashy weapon, but I think it deserves more respect than it gets. There’s really nothing wrong with it, so I think it’s a great choice for an energy pulse rifle

Sojourner’s Tale

Sojourner's Tale

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Hammer-Forged Rifling / Light Mag or Assault Mag / Auto-Loading Holster / Frenzy or Dragonfly

Sojourner’s Tale is a slug shotgun, which puts it in a weird place. Its damage isn’t quite as high as non-slug shotguns, and since it doesn’t have vorpal weapon, it doesn’t have a spot in boss DPS loadouts. That being said, I do think it has some uses, even if it’s not one of the top Season of the Splicer meta weapons. It’s a good shotgun for strikes and other activities that aren’t focused on just melting a boss, and I could see it being good in certain raids

Shattered Cypher

Shattered Cipher

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Extended Barrel or Fluted Barrel / Alloy Magazine or Tactical Mag / Field Prep or Auto-Loading Holster / Surrounded or Rampage

Shattered Cypher is a well-balanced heavy machine gun that works fine in less intense activities. You wouldn’t want to take this into a raid or nightfall, but it’s good in lesser situations.

The Swords (Crown Splitter, Eternity’s Edge, and Quickfang)

Eternity's Edge
Image: Bungie via HGG
  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll (Crown Splitter): Jagged Edge or Tempered Edge / Heavy Guard / Relentless Strikes / Vorpal Weapon or Whirlwind Blade
  • God Roll (Eternity’s Edge):Hungry Edge / Infinite Guard / Relentless Strikes / Assassin’s Blade
  • God Roll (Quickfang): Jagged Edge or Hungry Edge / Swordmaster’s Guard / Relentless Strikes / Assassin’s Blade

What makes these swords unique is that each one is only available on one class. Crown Splitter is for Titans, Eternity’s Edge is for Warlocks, and Quickfang is for Hunters. Crown Splitter is undeniably the best since it can roll Vorpal Weapon, but the other two are pretty solid as well. And Quickfang lets you ninja run while holding it, so that’s fun.

Farewell

Farewell

  • How To Acquire: Open the chests in Override or through Seasonal Engrams
  • God Roll: Smallbore or Fluted Barrel / Accurized Rounds or Tactical Mag / Full-Auto Trigger System or Subsistence / Frenzy or Vorpal Weapon

Farewell is probably my least favorite of the Override weapons, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Honestly, sidearms in general are just weak right now. Even though they have a champion mod this season, I still never see anyone use them. But I do think Farewell is pretty solid if sidearms are your thing.

New Nightfall Weapons

This season, there are three exclusive Nightfall strike weapons to get. Each one is quite good, and once the Grandmaster difficulty becomes available, there will be adept versions to get as well. To get the normal versions for now, you’ll have to play the Nightfall during the week each weapon is available since it’s on a rotating schedule.

Hung Jury SR4

Hung Jury SR4

  • How To Acquire: Drops from the Nightfall Strike during certain weeks
  • God Roll: Corkscrew Rifling or Smallbore / Tactical Mag or Accurized Rounds / Subsistence or Rapid Hit / Firefly or Explosive Payload

Hung Jury was one of my favorite weapons from the original Destiny, so it’s great to see it return. It has some of the best perks available for scout rifles, and good looks to boot. Make sure and get this weapon when it’s available, because you’ll regret it if you don’t.

Plug One.1

Plug One.1
Image: Bungie via HGG
  • How To Acquire: Drops from the Nightfall Strike during certain weeks
  • God Roll: Corkscrew Rifling or Arrowhead Break / Accelerated Coils or Liquid Coils / Feeding Frenzy / Reservoir Burst

Plug One.1 is one of the best fusion rifles available right now. Feeding Frenzy and Reservoir Burst are an insane combo, so if you can get one with both, you’re good to go. I wouldn’t recommend bringing this into raids at the moment, but you could easily run this in Nightfalls or other content.

Uzume RR4

  • How To Acquire: Drops from the Nightfall Strike during certain weeks
  • God Roll: Corkscrew Rifling or Fluted Barrel / Appended Mag or Tactical Mag / Triple Tap or Clown Cartridge / Vorpal Weapon or Explosive Payload

Uzume RR4 is a really fun sniper rifle. Having access to Vorpal Weapon makes it viable in raids, and Triple Tap makes it good for boss DPS. Clown Cartridge is a fun perk as well, but I think Triple Tap is still the way to go in most situations. Unless you’re feeling lucky, that is.

Other New Weapons

Here’s a quick roundup of some other Season of the Splicer new weapons that don’t fall into any specific categories. Enjoy!

Cryosthesia 77K

Cryosthesia 77K

  • How To Acquire: Season Pass
  • God Roll: Since it’s an exotic, its rolls are always the same.

Cryosthesia is a weird weapon. It’s one of very few Stasis weapons in the game, but just like the other one, it’s not that good. The exotic trait is interesting, and it’s great if you can pull it off in PvP, but it’s not very likely that you will (the gun itself is pretty weak).

Null Composure

Null Composure

  • How To Acquire: Complete the “A Sacred Fusion” Quest
  • God Roll: This weapon comes with curated rolls.

Null Composure is a hard weapon to judge. Since fusion rifles aren’t very strong right now, it probably won’t see much play. But when fusion rifles make a comeback, I could easily see this being a go-to weapon. Feel free to try this one out and see what you think, but I doubt it’ll be filling your energy spot during any high-end content.

Become a High Grounder

This season brought a lot of new weapons into the game, many of which are returning from Destiny. The great thing about this season is that there weren’t many new weapons that are just objectively bad. Even the ones I don’t like have their uses, and if you feel like using a weapon I didn’t like then feel free to do so!
