Destiny 2 Bounties Guide: How to Get and Track Them

Bounties in Destiny 2 are brief challenges and objectives meant to enrich your experience when patrolling and playing playlist content. They present great opportunities to stack different challenges in order to earn extra experience and level up your Season Pass. Some bounties offer just experience points, others provide you with Weapons, Armor, and even Bright Dust.

Sounds great, right? But how exactly do Bounties work and how do you keep track of them? We’re here to give you the full rundown in our Destiny 2 Bounties Guide.

Destiny 2 Bounties Guide

Bounties are a relatively simple system in Destiny 2. Acquiring them and finishing them effectively can be a simple method to quickly level up your Guardian. Here’s everything you need to know about Bounties.

Who Can You Acquire Bounties From?

Bounties can be collected from most Vendors in the game. To acquire a Bounty, you simply need to visit the Vendor (or find them in the Destiny Companion App) and purchase it with 250 Glimmer. Most will have five Bounties available, with two of them being a weekly version with a larger objective. You can also purchase additional random bounties for a 1,000 Glimmer each.

Here are the Vendors you can currently purchase Bounties from:

  • Shaxx – Located in the Tower, provides Crucible Bounties
  • Zavala – Located in the Tower, provides Vanguard Bounties
  • The Drifter – Located in the Tower, provides Gambit Bounties
  • The Gunsmith – Located in the Tower, provides Weapon Calibration Bounties
  • Hawthorne – Located in the Tower, provides Clan Bounties
  • Saint 14 – Located in the Tower, provides Trials Bounties on weekends
  • Ada-1 – Located in the Tower, provides Armor Synthesis Bounties
  • Eris Morn – Located on the Moon, provides Planetary Bounties
  • Variks on Europa – Located on Europa, provides Planetary Bounties, weekly Empire hunt missions, and Sabotage missions
  • Spider Located on the Tangled Shore, provides Planetary Bounties and Wanted Bounties
  • Splicer Servitor – Located in the H.E.L.M., provides Seasonal Bounties
  • Devrim Kay – Located in the EDZ, provides Planetary Bounties
  • Failsafe – Located on Nessus, provides Planetary Bounties
  • Shaw Han – Located in the Cosmodrome, provides Planetary Bounties

Keep in mind that Daily Bounties will expire after twenty-four hours and Weekly Bounties will expire seven days after purchase. Some Bounties, like the Armor Synthesis pursuits or Missions from Variks, don’t have a time limit associated with them.

What Type of Bounties Are There?

Bounties can be broken up into two types — defeating enemies and completing objectives. Non-planetary Vendors will usually have you defeat a certain number of enemies, use a specific weapon, or run specific events associated with their in-game role. Zavala, for example, will have you complete objectives while playing through the Strike Playlist.

Planetary Vendors, on the other hand, will require you to complete objectives in the specific Planet you acquired them from. The only Bounties not associated with a given location or game mode are from the Gunsmith, Ada-1, and the current Seasonal Vendor (Splicer Servitor). So, the best thing you can do is purchase their Bounties alongside the others to potentially stack up on objectives and complete multiple at once.

How Do You Track Bounties?

Your Bounties will be located in your Pursuits tab along the right-hand side. Here, you can quickly see how many you have active and how far you have to go to complete them. Now, in the past, you could track three objectives at a time that would pop up when you summon your Ghost.

Now, for a quick glimpse, you can simply summon your Ghost and scroll down with the thumb pad to look through all of your Bounties. The Bounties that you’ve made progress on or acquired most recently will appear at the top, making it easy to track objectives you’re actively pursuing.

How Do You Turn Bounties In?

In the past, you actually had to return to each Vendor to turn in Bounties. Thankfully, you can simply click on a completed Bounty in your Pursuits Tab to claim it. It’s worth noting that there may be times when specific completion bonuses are active, which may make waiting to claim Bounties a relevant strategy.

What Rewards Do You Get From Bounties?

Each Bounty will offer a variety of rewards depending on the difficulty. What you’ll earn can be seen ahead of time before purchasing and when hovering over a Bounty in your Pursuits Tab. You can expect to earn experience, Glimmer, and Legendary Shards from most Bounties. Some will also provide Planetary Resources, upgrade materials, Legendary gear, and even Bright Dust.
