Destiny 2: Every New Weapon and Armor Set in the Bungie 30th Anniversary Event

Destiny 2 kicked off a giant celebration with the release of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack this last December. It featured a brand new six-player event/game show, an excellent pirate-themed Dungeon, and plenty of references to Bungie IP like Halo and Marathon to explore. Even with just a month to go until The Witch Queen launches, there are still plenty of reasons to come back to this DLC. Especially if you’re trying to wrap up the Triumphs necessary to claim the 30th Anniversary Seal.

Luckily, there are plenty of incredible weapons and gear that you can claim as you rerun Dares of Eternity or attempt the hard-mode version of the Dungeon. For the completionists out there, here is every weapon, armor set, and armor ornament that you can unlock in the Bungie 30th Anniversary event.

Every New Bungie 30th Anniversary Weapon in Destiny 2

Even though this DLC isn’t a full expansion, it came packed with new and revamped weapons to celebrate both Bungie and Destiny’s history. There’s a wide variety of really impressive weapons to collect that require you to play Dares of Eternity, complete the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon, as well as unique questlines collected from Xur. Here is every weapon in the 30th Anniversary event and how to unlock them.

Forerunner

Screenshot of the Forerunner Sidearm in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

The original Halo CE Pistol is known for being a ridiculous enemy-stopping machine. While Hand Cannons were seen as the successor to this iconic weapon, nothing could truly match its speed and stopping power. That is, until they introduced the Forerunner.

It leverages the Sidearm’s quick aim and reloads while harnessing the power and precision of a Hand Cannon. It’s fast, deadly, and feels so, so good to use. Be ready to reclaim those glory days by headshotting both enemies of the Darkness and Guardians alike when you wield this Halo-themed Exotic.

➡️ Weapon Type: 200 RPM Sidearm

➡️ Rarity: Exotic

➡️ Slot: Kinetic

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Perks:

  • Full Stop: Oversized Sidearm with extended-range, heavy-caliber rounds. Fires full auto with an increased rate of fire. Deals increased precision damage to unshielded targets.
  • Pace Yourself: Tapping the trigger gives this weapon less recoil and improves accuracy.

How to Unlock

Collect and complete The Magnum Opus questline from Xur. Check out our full guide for detailed steps on how to acquire it and the Catalyst.

Gjallarhorn

Screenshot of the Gjallarhorn Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

The Gjallarhorn has been a legend in Destiny since it first emerged and broke the original game. Ever since then, even with a rerelease, it has been a long-awaited reintroduction to the game. And it doesn’t disappoint, especially with the update of an Exotic Catalyst.

It still retains the powerful firepower of the original, with some additional perks that make it viable for the current game. Just the fact that you can turn your team’s Legendary Rocket Launchers into tracking missiles is a major plus. Sure, you have to complete the Dungeon to earn it, but it just makes an already fun PVE event all the more rewarding.

➡️ Weapon Type: 15 RPM Rocket Launcher

➡️ Rarity: Exotic

➡️ Slot: Heavy

➡️ Element: Solar

➡️ Perks:

  • Wolfpack Rounds: Rounds fired split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation.
  • Pack Hunter: Gain increased handling and reload speed when standing near allies. Firing this weapon also grants Wolfpack Rounds to nearby allies wielding non-Exotic Rocket Launchers.

How to Unlock

Collect and complete the “And Fly Out The Wolves” questline from Xur, which requires you to also complete the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon. Check out our full guide for detailed steps on how to acquire it and the Catalyst.

BXR-55 Battler

Screenshot of the BXR-55 Battler Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

Similar to the Forerunner Sidearm, this Pulse Rifle recreates the other incredibly useful Halo weapon — the Battle Rifle. After all, it makes sense that the Pulse Rifle was the spiritual successor to this weapon type, and the BXR takes things a step further. It feels far more accurate than other Pulse Rifles, has a crazy site when going ADS, and feels both easy to control and powerful. All-in-all, it serves as a weapon that toes the line between Scout Rifle and Pulse Rifle, and somehow pulls in everything great about both weapon types.

➡️ Weapon Type: 450 RPM Pulse Rifle

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Kinetic

➡️ Ammo Type: Primary

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Demolitionist, Outlaw, Killing Wind, Perpetual Motion, Snapshot Sights, Auto-Loading Holster
  • Slot 2: Blunt Execution Rounds, Kill Clip, Adrenaline Junkie, Eye of the Storm, Rangefinder, Elemental Capacitor

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

Wastelander M5

The Wastelander is a clear callback to the WSTE M5 shotgun from Marathon 2. It also serves as the Legendary alternative to the Chaperone. It’s a powerful showstopper of a weapon that has a surprising amount of range to leverage, making it useful in both PVE and PVP.

➡️ Weapon Type: 60 RPM Shotgun

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Kinetic

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Slideshot, Subsistence, Dual Loader, Lead From Gold, Perpetual Motion, Ensemble
  • Slot 2: One-Two Punch, Trench Barrel, Adagio, Harmony, Killing Wind, Opening Shot

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

Pardon Our Dust

Screenshot of the Pardon Our Dust Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

This Special-ammo-infused Grenade Launcher isn’t the best out there, but it’s still a decent weapon to go for. The Lightweight frame makes it difficult to use for PVP play, but overall it still serves as a decent PVE option thanks to the Perk variety it can roll with. It lacks the crazy stopping power of other Kinetic or Energy Grenade Launchers, but can easily help boost your ability regeneration and ad clearing capabilities. Grab it, but keep an eye out for better builds when you can.

➡️ Weapon Type: Breech Loaded Grenade Launcher

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Kinetic

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Auto-Loading Holster, Ambitious Assassin, Killing Wind, Pulse Monitor, Ensemble, Perpetual Motion
  • Slot 2: Demolitionist, Vorpal Weapon, Adrenaline Junkie, Rampage, Danger Zone, Wellspring

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

Retraced Path

Trace Rifles tend to be decent at the worst and killer at the best. Thankfully, this Covenant-themed weapon leans toward the latter, and may truly be one of the best weapons of this archetype available in-game. Part of what makes it so good is the crazy Perk pool it holds, making any roll viable and worth holding onto.

➡️ Weapon Type: 1,000 RPM Trace Rifle

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Energy

➡️ Element: Solar

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Genesis, Shoot to Loot, Subsistence, Feeding Frenzy, Perpetual Motion, Killing Wind
  • Slot 2: Disruption Break, Harmony, Demolitionist, One For All, Golden Tricorn, Frenzy

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

Half-Truths

Screenshot of the Half-Truths Sword in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

This Legendary Sword, while it may look like half of an energy sword, feels pretty standard as far as Swords go in Destiny 2. While it’s not bad by any means, it doesn’t do anything truly special. Just bank up enough hits to unleash a powerful uppercut attack on enemies and take advantage of the decent perk rolls this weapon rolls with. Don’t expect anything special here, but try to land a decent roll just in case Adaptive Frame Swords see a buff in the near future.

➡️ Weapon Type: Adaptive Frame Sword

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Heavy

➡️ Element: Arc

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Tireless Blade, Relentless Strikes, Duelist’s Stance, Thresh
  • Slot 2: Eager Edge, Harmony, Assassin’s Blade, En Garde

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

The Other Half

Screenshot of the The Other Half Sword in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

This Legendary Sword is so elusive that it’s not even listed as an attainable weapon. Sure, it was featured as part of the DLC promotion, but it’s missing in the collection menu and is surprisingly difficult to unlock. Just ask Paul Tassi. But here’s the thing about this Sword — it’s the better of the two released in the 30th Anniversary DLC. It has a much better perk pool, with the right roll making it act just like the ridiculous lunge attack that you can use in Halo with an energy sword. Sure, it’s hard to get, but well worth the wait once you finally snag one.

➡️ Weapon Type: Adaptive Frame Sword

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Heavy

➡️ Element: Void

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Eager Edge, Relentless Strikes, Duelist’s Trance, Energy Transfer
  • Slot 2: Whirlwind Blade, Surrounded, Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy

How to Unlock

Random drop from completing rounds of Dares of Eternity or using Treasure Keys to unlock a random reward in Xur’s Treasure Hoard.

Eyasluna

Screenshot of the Eyasluna Hand Cannon in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

The Eyasluna Hand Cannon is locked within the Dungeon and requires you to basically finish it. It holds some solid PVP and PVE-related rolls that are worth pursuing, but it can also be difficult to earn. It’s worth keeping an eye out for, but don’t get too attached to this weapon-type.

➡️ Weapon Type: 140 RPM Hand Cannon

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Kinetic

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Element: Stasis

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Rapid Hit, Perpetual Motion, Outlaw, Rangefinder, Unrelenting, Heating Up
  • Slot 2: Demolitionist, Headstone, Kill Clip, Harmony, Moving Target, Snapshot Sights

How to Unlock

Random drop from defeating Captain Avarokk, the final boss in the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon.

Matador 64

Screenshot of the Matador 64 Shotgun in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG

The Matador 64 is the only non-slug shotgun in the Energy weapon slot. It also serves as a great recreation of an original Destiny weapon. The only drawback is how it’s locked behind the Dungeon — you’ll have to squad up and push through this end-game content multiple times in pursuit of a god-roll, if that’s your thing.

➡️ Weapon Type: 65 RPM Shotgun

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Energy

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Element: Arc

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Pulse Monitor, Full Auto Trigger, Lead From Gold, Perpetual Motion, Threat Detector, Tunnel Vision
  • Slot 2: Golden Tricorn, Harmony, One-Two Punch, Swashbuckler, Opening Shot, Killing Wind

How to Unlock

Random drop by defeating Phry’Zhia the Insatiable, the Fallen Shield, or Captain Avarokk in the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon.

1000 Yard Stare

Image: Bungie via HGG

Another iconic original Destiny weapon, the 100 Yard Stare helped convert non-snipers into true professionals. Even this revision serves as an excellent PVP option, although the overall range is a bit lacking. Still, it’s worth picking up and holding onto thanks to the perk pool and versatile play.

➡️ Weapon Type: 90 RPM Sniper Rifle

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Energy

➡️ Ammo Type: Special

➡️ Element: Void

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Quickdraw, Triple Tap, Firmly Planted, Perpetual Motion, Heating Up, No Distractions
  • Slot 2: Demolitionist, Dragonfly, Golden Tricorn, Snapshot Sights, Moving Target, Mulligan

How to Unlock

Random drop from defeating Captain Avarokk, the final boss in the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon.

Hero of Ages

Image: Bungie via HGG

Hero of Ages is also locked behind the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon. Luckily, it’s fun to complete and well worth pursuing. This is especially true if you’re looking for a crowd-control enabled PVE weapon. Just play, roll a few options, and check back to make sure they’re up to date.

➡️ Weapon Type: Vortex Frame Sword

➡️ Rarity: Legendary

➡️ Slot: Heavy

➡️ Element: Arc

➡️ Potential Perks:

  • Slot 1: Tireless Blade, Demolitionist, Relentless Strikes, Duelist’s Trance, Unrelenting
  • Slot 2: One For All, Chain Reaction, En Garde, Assassin’s Blade

How to Unlock

Random drop by defeating Phry’Zhia the Insatiable, the Fallen Shield, or Captain Avarokk in the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon.

Every New Bungie 30th Anniversary Armor Set in Destiny 2

Image: Bungie via HGG

While there isn’t that much new armor to claim in this expansion, there are enough slick new looks worth pursuing. Here is every armor set and ornament you can unlock in the 30th Anniversary event.

Bungie Streetwear Armor Ornaments

There’s just something about armor in Destiny 2 that looks casual. This Armor Ornament, no matter what your Class, encapsulates that idea to perfection. And luckily, you’ll claim this look almost immediately after purchasing the DLC.

How to Unlock

Immediate unlock after purchasing the 30th Anniversary Expansion and visiting Xur for the first time.

Thorn Armor Sets

Image: Bungie via HGG

Thorn is one of the most iconic weapons in Destiny history. So, it’s only natural that a slick armor set would eventually adopt the look. The only drawback to going after this set is that you’ll have to complete specific areas of the Dungeon. It will take some work, but could be well worth the time thanks to how good you’ll look.

How to Unlock

Random drops by defeating specific bosses in the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon.

Marathon Armor Ornament Sets

Image: Bungie via HGG

Marathon is somewhat of an obscure title from Bungie, but it’s shared the center stage with other popular titles in this expansion. In fact, it represents one of the most elusive and grindy awards, since you have to unlock certain chests in Xur’s Treasure Horde. Keep leveling up your reputation and grabbing those Keys to make sure you keep earning the next piece to build the whole step.

How to Unlock

Collect Treasure Keys and level up your reputation with Xur to open specific chests in Xur’s Treasure Horde.

Flaming Tiger Helmet Ornament

This represents the epitome of unlockable content in this DLC. It requires you to complete everything and claim the title of Vidmaster. While not overly difficult to achieve, it can take some time depending on a few random variables. Luckily, it’s easy to show off how dedicated you are once unlocked and showcases some of the most dedicated players around.

How to Unlock

Complete the Vidmaster title.
