Destiny 2: The Best Void Warlock Builds

Void and Arc Warlock both seem to be frequently overlooked by the Destiny 2 player base as a whole, in favor of Well-dropping Solar Warlock builds. While Well of Radiance remains a very powerful choice for both solo and fire-team play, it can become repetitive and dull to always play the certified White Mage of the fire-team. These three Void builds provide Warlock players with some new options in Destiny 2 for tackling content, whether solo or in a fire team.

Best Solo Void Warlock Build

Sometimes you have to fly solo in Destiny 2, but it doesn’t have to be all bad, in fact, there are many new solo builds you can use to have lots of fun while grinding content. This Void Warlock build is designed to handle some of the more difficult content in Destiny 2 while playing solo.

Build Exotic: Contraverse Hold

Let’s start with this build’s exotic: Contraverse Hold. This Exotic gauntlet improves the lethality of charged Void grenades while also restoring grenade energy when you damage enemies with your grenades. This Exotic also grants a bit of damage resistance to your Guardian while charging your grenade.

Build Abilities, Aspects, and Fragments

This build’s Aspects, Fragments, and Abilities are centered around improving the performance of our Vortex Grenades while also providing powerful buffs like Devour and Void Over Shield.

Abilities

  • Super: Nova Bomb (Either)
  • Melee: Pocket Singularity
  • Grenade: Vortex
  • Class Ability: Healing Rift
  • Movement Ability: Glide

Aspects

  • Chaos Accelerant
  • Feed the Void

Fragments

  • Echo of Vigilance: Grants Overshield after defeating targets while shields are broken.
  • Echo of Remnants: Increased Vortex Grenade duration.
  • Echo of Leeching: Health regen after melee kills.
  • Echo of Persistence: Increased Devour and Overshield duration.

Helmet Mods

This build uses Hands-On, Ashes to Assets, and Harmonic Siphon for its Helmet mods.

  • This build utilizes its Melee fairly often, so the Hands-On can trigger fairly often.
  • Ashes to Assets is always great on grenade-focused builds.
  • Harmonic Siphon generates additional Orbs of Power when we get kills with our Void weapons, and these Orbs also grant Super energy.

Gauntlet Mods

Firepower, Grenade Kickstart, and Momentum Transfer are our Gauntlet mods of choice.

  • Firepower grants additional Orbs of Power on grenade kills.
  • Grenade Kickstart is huge in this build and will often refund just enough energy alongside Contrverse Hold’s ability to completely restore your grenade ability.
  • Momentum Transfer adds a little bit more value to our melee ability by having it generate grenade energy whenever we cause damage with it.

Chest Mods

Chest Mods

For our chest mods, we’ll be running Charged-Up, Harmonic Reserves, and Harmonic Resistance.

  • Charged-Up is great in this build because all Kickstart mods benefit from the extra armor charge slot.
  • Harmonic Reserves is here because extra Heavy ammo is always nice, just make sure you’re using a Void Heavy weapon.
  • Finally, we have Harmonic Resistance for the increased damage resistance from Void attacks in those higher-difficulty activities.

Leg Mods

All our leg mods for this build are centered around gaining benefits from collecting Orbs of Power.

  • Absolution grants energy to all abilities when an Orb of Power is collected.
  • Orbs of Restoration restores a small amount of energy to the ability with the least amount of energy.
  • Recuperation is here for some additional survivability, as it restores health whenever an Orb of Power is collected.

Class Item Mods

Class Item Mods - Best Solo Void Warlock Build Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our class item mods are all about gaining bonuses from using our Class Ability.

  • Powerful Attraction pulls in nearby Orbs of Power whenever the Rift is cast.
  • Bomber generates grenade energy whenever the rift is cast near enemies.
  • Distribution is basically the same as Bomber, but it provides energy to all abilities when a Rift is cast near enemies.
ProsCons
Plenty of survivabilityDoesn’t have access to many Void keywords
Very fast grenade ability regenerationProvides little to no benefits to a fire team

Best PvE Void Warlock Build

This build is also centered around improving the performance of your grenades, but it isn’t limited to the Void sub-class, as you can use this exotic with any Warlock subclass. This Void Warlock build is also intended to be used with other Warlocks in your fire-team that are running powerful grenade abilities.

Build Exotics: Verity’s Brow & Hard Light

Verity's Brow
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Verity’s Brow is our armor-Exotic for this Void Warlock build, and it makes our Void weapon final blows grant grenade energy and increase grenade damage. When you throw a grenade while benefiting from these buffs, you’ll also grant your allies greatly increased grenade energy.

Hard Light - Best PvE Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Hard Light is our Exotic Void weapon for this build, but you could use any Legendary or Exotic Void weapon as long as it’s your primary weapon for killing ads. We really want that synergy with Verity’s Brow.

Build Abilities, Aspects, and Fragments

This build’s Aspects, Fragments, and Abilities are centered around Weakening targets with either the Vortex Grenade ability or the Child of the Old Gods’ Void Soul. We then gain benefits from killing those Weakened enemies – including Devour, Orbs of Power, and Void Breaches.

Abilities

  • Super: Nova Bomb (Either)
  • Melee: Pocket Singularity
  • Grenade: Vortex
  • Class Ability: Healing Rift
  • Movement Ability: Glide

Aspects

  • Chaos Accelerant
  • Child of the Old Gods

Fragments

  • Echo of Undermining: Void Grenades Weaken targets.
  • Echo of Harvest: Defeating Weakened targets creates an Orb of Power and Void Breach.
  • Echo of Leeching: Health regen after melee kills.
  • Echo of Starvation: Void Breach and Orb of Power pick-ups grant Devour

Helmet Mods

Helmet Mods

This build uses two copies of Ashes to Assets and one copy of Harmonic Siphon.

  • The double Ashes to Assets is for generating as much Super energy as possible from our Grenade kills, which is great since Verity’s Brow increases grenade damage.
  • We use Harmonic Siphon because this build requires the use of a Void energy weapon.

Gauntlet Mods

Gauntlet Mods - Best PvE Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our Gauntlets are equipped with Impact Induction, Font of Focus, and Firepower.

  • Impact Induction grants us grenade energy when we deal damage with our melee ability.
  • Font of Focus grants us a 30-point bonus to our Discipline stat while we have one stack of armor charge.
  • Firepower generates Orbs of Power when you get grenade kills.

Chest Mods

Charged-Up, Harmonic Resistance, and Harmonic Reserves are our chest mods of choice.

  • We run Charged Up to extend the effect of our Armor Charge buffs.
    • When playing Nightfalls or any other high-difficulty content, you may want to consider swapping Charged-Up out for one of the other Resistance mods.
  • Harmonic Reserves is here mostly for our Void heavy weapon, or if you’re running a Void special weapon, this can also be useful.

Leg Mods

Leg Mods
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our three leg mods are Void Weapon Surge, Orbs of Restoration, and Innervation.

  • Weapon Surge is great here because we will primarily be using our Void weapon to activate the effects of Verity’s Brows.
  • Orbs of Restoration is always nice since we are going to be using all of our abilities, not just our grenades.
  • Innervation is pretty much the same as Orbs of Restoration, but it only works for our grenades.

Class Item Mods

Class Item Mods - Best PvE Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Powerful Attraction, Font of Restoration, and Time Dilation are our Class Item mods.

  • Powerful Attraction pulls in nearby Orbs of Power when you use your class ability.
  • Time Dilation increases the amount of time each armor charge lasts by five seconds.
  • Font of Restoration increases our Recovery stat by 30 points while we have armor charge, which we have plenty of thanks to Charged-Up and Time Dilation.
ProsCons
Fast Grenade regenRequires a strong Void weapon that can consistently kill enemies
Grenade regen for fire team membersAbility recovery is not instant. Weaker in solo content.
Weaken enemies
Increased Grenade damage

Best PvP Void Warlock Build

This build is mostly just for fun and is nowhere near as powerful as the other two builds, but it makes use of the Void Warlock’s Blink ability and Nova Warp Super.

This build can take some time to get used to because Blink is a pretty tricky movement ability to master. However, once you get used to it, you’ll find that this Void Warlock build is really fun to use and incredibly powerful in PvP modes like Gambit and Crucible, as Blink can be really confusing to play against.

Build Exotic: Astrocyte Verse

Astrocyte Verse is a helmet Exotic that improves many elements of the Blink movement ability. With this Exotic equipped, your weapons will be readied much faster after Blink, and your minimap will return instantly after using Blink.

Build Abilities, Aspects, and Fragments

This build’s Aspects, Fragments, and Abilities are centered around granting the user many of Void’s beneficial keywords, such as Suppression, Overshield, Weaken, Volatile, and Devour.

Abilities

Abilities - Best PvP Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2

  • Super: Nova Warp
  • Melee: Pocket Singularity
  • Grenade: Suppression
  • Class Ability: Either
  • Movement Ability: Blink

Aspects

  • Child of the Old Gods
  • Feed the Void

Fragments

Fragments - Best PvP Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2

  • Echo of Expulsion: Void ability kills cause targets to explode.
  • Echo of Vigilance: Grants Overshield after defeating targets while shields are broken.
  • Echo of Leeching: Health regen after melee kills.
  • Echo of Persistence: Increased Devour and Overshield duration.

Helmet Mods

Helmet Mods
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our helmet mods are designed to generate Orbs of Power while using a Void weapon. We also want to use these mods to generate as much Super energy as possible, as a big appeal of this build is its access to the unique Nova Warp Super.

  • We are using Harmonic Siphon for Orb of Power generation.
  • Ashes to Assets provides more Super energy generation when killing with our grenades.
  • Dynamo for even more Super energy generation when we use our class ability.

Gauntlet Mods

Gauntlet Mods - Best PvP Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our Gauntlet mods are designed to Generate Orbs of Power on grenade final blows and melee final blows, as well as restoring class ability energy when dealing damage with your grenade ability.

We will be using the following three mods to accomplish this:

  • Firepower will create Orbs of Power on grenade final blows.
  • Heavy Handed causes powered melee final blows to create even more Orbs of Power.
  • Bolstering Detonation generates class ability energy whenever you damage an enemy with a grenade.

Chest Mods

Chest Mods - Best PvP Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

For our chest mods, we will be taking Unflinching Harmonic Aim, Harmonic Resistance, and any other Damage resistance mod of your choice. We recommend Sniper Damage Resistance.

  • Unflinching Harmonic Aim grants increased resistance from flinching while aiming down sights with a Void weapon.
  • Harmonic Resistance grants increased resistance against incoming Void damage.
  • Sniper Damage Resistance grants increased resistance against long-range damage.

Leg Mods

Leg Mods
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

Our leg mods make use of the Absolution, Harmonic Holster, and Innervation mods.

  • Both Absolution and Innervation are designed to recover ability energy whenever an Orb of Power is collected.
    • Absolution restores a small percentage of all ability energy, whereas Innervation only replenishes grenade energy (a rather substantial amount) for each Orb of Power collected.
  • Harmonic Holster reloads your Guardian’s stored Void weapons over time.

Class Item Mods

Class Item Mods - Best PvP Void Warlock Build in Destiny 2
Image: Bungie via HGG / Adam W.

This build’s Class Item mods are Powerful Attraction, Bomber, and Reaper. Each of these mods are centered around the Warlock’s Class Ability.

  • Powerful Attraction collects Orbs of Power around the user whenever they cast their Rift ability.
  • Bomber reduces the grenade cooldown whenever the class ability is used near a target.
  • Reaper spawns an Orb of Power on the next kill you get after using your class ability.
ProsCons
Fun to useTake some time to get use to the controls
Good in PvP activitiesTake some time to get used to the controls
Lots of Super energy
Access to Devour and Void Overshields
