8 Best Laptops for Sims 4

From affordable models to high-end options, here are the eight best laptops for The Sims 4. Keep reading — a whole simulated world awaits.

1. Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop

Best Laptop for The Sims 4, Overall

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 512 GB | RAM Installed: 16 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 Home | 6 GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM | Price: 💰💰💰

Taking the top spot in our ranking of the best laptops for The Sims 4 is the Predator Helios 300 from Acer. This gaming laptop offers everything The Sims 4 requires to run smoothly, and then some. The OS is Windows 10 with an Intel Core i7 CPU. With 16 GB of RAM installed, and 6 GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM, there’s more than enough memory for gaming straight out of the box. There are bigger screens out there, but the performance reported when playing both Age of Empires and The Sims is great for the price.

For The Sims 4 specifically, there was no lag when playing with all expansions and mods, according to one report. The backlit keyboard is also high quality. Just be sure to keep it well ventilated, because the fans are loud. For the best mix of power, reliable performance, and usability, though, the Predator Helios 300 is without a doubt the best laptop for Sims 4 we reviewed.

2. Razer Blade 15 Base Gaming Laptop

Best Laptop for The Sims 4, Runner-Up

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 256 GB | RAM Installed: 8 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 Home | Full HD thin bezel display | Price: 💰💰💰💰

Runner-up in our list of the best laptops for The Sims 4 is the Blade 14 base gaming laptop from Razer. Sold with 8 GB of RAM, plenty of hard disk space, and Windows 10 installed, the Blade 15 has everything a Sims gamer needs to get started. We like the full HD thin bezel monitor and powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics coprocessor. The laptop also offers a full range of connectivity, and chroma RGB backlit keyboard. The 120Hz display keeps frame rates high and action moving seamlessly.

Gamers say the Blade 15 runs smoothly, the keyboard looks nice, and the keys themselves feel good to press. You can count on a solid 120 FPS, according to another consumer. It’s also a great choice for multiple applications, from gaming to schoolwork, we found out. Some overheating issues were reported, though.

3. MSI GS75 Stealth Gaming Laptop

Best Laptop for The Sims 4 and All Expansions

Screen Size: 17.3 Inches | Hard Disk: 512 GB | RAM Installed: 16 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 Pro | Thunderbolt 3 port | Price: 💰💰💰💰

What makes Sims expansion packs worth it are whole new looks, settings, and scenarios to experience within the game. To handle all expansion packs available for The Sims 4 without a glitch, we recommend the G275 Stealth gaming laptop. The screen size is a bit larger, and it’s sold with twice as much RAM and hard disk space than other laptops we reviewed. Also, if the default memory bank is inadequate, an additional SSD card is easy to buy and even easier to install.

The battery life on the GS75 is sufficient for gaming, but perhaps not the best for off-site work without an outlet. One gamer said it ran an average of 250 FPS, which is more than enough to handle The Sims 4. There’s no end or home key, to the dismay of some users. Another said due to the slim design, it got quite hot, so you may want to invest in a cooling pad.

4. Alienware m15 R4 RTX 3070 Gaming Laptop

Best Laptops for The Sims 4 with CC and Mods

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 1 TB | RAM Installed: 16 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 Home | Load-balancing heat pipes | Price: 💰💰💰💰💰

The various custom content and mods available for The Sims 4 add whole new dimensions to gameplay, like new personality traits for the characters. The best laptop we reviewed for CC and mods is the m15 R4 RTX 3070 gaming laptop from Alienware. What stands out about the R4 RTX is the astonishing 1 TB hard disk  with an additional 16 GB of RAM. There’s also a 300Hz rapid refresh rate for high-FPS, glitch-free gaming. We also like the innovative heat management systems, like load-balancing heat pipes and a high-voltage driving fan.

The R4 RTX is spendy, but one report said it “crushes” mods like new textures, lighting, and weather. This might not be the best choice for multipurpose activities, unless perhaps it pulls double-duty in graphic design. In other words, this is a laptop for gaming, specifically. But if you want a fully-capable computer for CCs and mods without the bulkiness of a full-size desktop, this is without a doubt your best choice.

Best Laptop for The Sims 4 under $500

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 128 GB | RAM Installed: 4 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 S installed | AMD Ryzen 7 3700U Mobile Processor | Price: 💰💰

Shopping for a laptop on a budget? There are plenty of good options out there. On that note, we call the Acer Aspire 5 the best laptop for The Sims 4 under $500. With a 128 GB hard drive and 4 GB of RAM installed, the Aspire 5 offers a broad range of connectivity options. It’s sold with Windows 10 in S mode installed, and the long battery life is also notable.

For The Sims 4 specifically, the Acer Aspire 5 ran the game at the highest graphic settings without any issues, according to one report — just be sure to switch out of the Windows 10 S mode before you get started.

You may want to upgrade with a 4 GB stick for improved performance. Some also recommend checking file space and storage before adding any custom content. Otherwise, the Aspire 5 may not have enough oomph for more intensive games. That said, the laptop handles gaming, office work, and even Photoshop with few problems reported.

Best Laptop for The Sims 4 under $400

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 128 GB | RAM Installed: 8 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 in S mode | ASUS fast-charge technology | Price: 💰💰

Another affordable laptop option for Sims 4 is the Asus Vivobook 15. Despite the low price, the laptop has 8 GB installed and a 129 GB hard disk — more than enough memory to get started. It does come with Windows 10 in S mode, but that’s easily switchable, we found out. The Intel Core i3 processor has all the power you need for gaming. As far as Sims 4, the Vivobook 15 can handle CCs and mods. Some say you may need to tweak things a bit for best results with light gaming, but once you do, it runs smoothly.

Some aspects of the display do get mixed reviews. That said, the laptop also performs well for non-gaming applications like work and school. The backlit keyboard is another popular feature. Overall, for light gaming such as The Sims 4 and Stardew Valley, the ASUS Vivobook 15 has what you need, especially considering the low price.

7. Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-32DK Slim Laptop

Best Laptop for Sims 4

Best Laptop for The Sims 4 under $300

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 128 GB | RAM Installed: 4 GB | Operating System: Windows 11 Home S Mode | 16:9 aspect ratio, narrow bezels | Price: 💰

Players on an even tighter budget need not despair — there’s a laptop for you! Our pick for the best laptop under $300 is the Acer Aspire 5. This laptop still has what you need to get started: a 128 GB hard disk, 4 GB RAM installed, and one slot available for an upgrade of up to 20 GB. There’s also an additional internal SATA-3 cable to add one more hard drive, if needed.  Also notable, there’s a Dual Core processor and Turbo Boost technology offering 4.1 GHZ in performance. The screen is also 16:9 with narrow bezels.

Consumers call the Acer Aspire 5 perfectly balanced for school and work. There’s about four hours of battery life, we found out, and a nice wide touchpad. Where the savings show is in the casing — mostly plastic rather than aluminum. Feedback says it’s sturdy, nonetheless. Otherwise, the laptop runs smoothly, with plenty of storage and an awesome screen for most gaming applications.

8. Lenovo IdeaPad L340 15 Gaming Laptop

Best Laptop for Sims 4

Best Laptop for The Sims 4 and School

Screen Size: 15.6 inches | Hard Disk: 256 GB | RAM Installed: 8 GB | Operating System: Windows 10 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics coprocessor | Price: 💰💰💰

Finally, if you’re after a laptop perfectly balanced for both The Sims 4 and school, we recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad L340 15. With a 256 GB hard disk and 8 GB of RAM installed, there’s also a 9th Gen Intel Core mobile processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics coprocessor. All combined, that’s more than enough power and memory to handle schoolwork and games like The Sims 4. Consumers call the laptop awesome for the price, and well-suited for other games, like Stardew Valley and Among Us. It also runs Photoshop.

You may want to invest in a cooling mat, but overall, it runs fast and smooth at high enough frame rates to keep The Sims 4 glitch free. On the downside, reports tell us the fan is loud and the battery life could be improved. It’s also not the best choice if memory upgrades are needed. The as-is specs should be more than enough for relatively light gaming purposes, though.
