The 15 Best Sparrows in Destiny 2, Ranked From Worst to Best Looking

Destiny 2 is all about the grind — unlocking new Armor, Weapons, Ghost Shells, Ships, Emotes, and of course Sparrows. These trusty companion vehicles have been a staple in the Destiny universe since the original game. They make traveling a breeze, can be used to crash into enemies, and can even allow you to do tricks with the right models.

On top of all that, they’re also a fashion statement, with some Sparrows looking much cooler than others. Now there are a ridiculous amount of Sparrows in the game, which can make it hard to figure out which ones you should try and unlock. That’s why we’ve rounded up the best Sparrows in Destiny 2.

What Are Sparrows in Destiny 2?

Sparrows are land-based vehicles used for quick transportation and patrolling. They’re similar to Fallen Pikes, as they function like hovering motorcycles, but lack any offensive capabilities. Each Guardian has at least one personalized Sparrow stored in their ship that can be summoned at any time.

To summon your Sparrow, simply activate your Ghost and hold down the upper face button until it spawns. The right trigger will provide an extended boost and the right and left bumpers provide additional navigation abilities such as tighter turning, horizontal dashes, or midair movement. Similar to your Ghost, the Sparrow is considered as Equipment, meaning you can run an Exotic model without interfering with Armor or Weapons.

The 15 Best Sparrows in Destiny 2

There are no unique perks or benefits from equipping a specific Sparrow. At one point, you could purchase and unlock different engines, movement, and light trail Mods, but now those are randomized perks.

These rankings stick to Exotic Sparrows and are based on the look, since most Sparrows are dropped randomly. Remember, these are subjective and based on your preferences, so be sure to let us know your favorites in the comments below. We’ll kick things off with a few duds, transition into some unique seasonal options, and finish up everything with Destiny 2’s best Sparrow in the game.

15/15

Double Rainbow

Double Rainbow - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
There’s nothing wrong with having more than one best friend.

How To Unlock: Originally a perk through the Forsaken Refer-a-Friend program. Now it drops randomly from the general world loot pool.

First off, in order to earn this Sparrow originally, you had to refer three separate friends to play Destiny 2. They then had to purchase not just the base game, but the Forsaken expansion as well. Then you had to play a few Strikes and Crucible matches with those same friends to unlock it. All for a Sparrow that looks like it was slapped together with supplies from a craft store.

14/15

Warrior’s Steed

Warrior's Steed
Ride gloriously into adventure… and through it.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams.

Warrior’s Steed may be an Exotic Sparrow, but it looks like a junker that putts along at half speed. Its boxy design looks like those Trade Federation tanks from The Phantom Menace, and the color scheme matches. There are plenty of Sparrow options that favor a larger front end and make it look like a powerful engine variation, but this is not one of them.

13/15

Hastilude

Hastilude - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
“Two words. Sparrow jousting.” – Marcus Ren | “Two words. Why not?” – Amanda Holliday

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams.

The original Exotic Sparrow is worth unlocking just for nostalgia’s sake. Other than that, it’s just a generic-looking vehicle that slaps on some non-functioning spears and calls it a day. The main issue is that this looks like it could be a Legendary Sparrow. While it has some Roman Centurion vibes, it’s just not interesting enough to use as your main Sparrow.

12/15

Otherside

Otherside
There is always a player on the nightside, unseen and perfect-and patient.

How To Unlock: Complete Strikes and earn rank-up packages from Zavala.

On the flipside of more subtle Sparrows that actually look slick, you have the Otherside. The Sparrow frame is nothing to shout at, but the flaming cow skull that adorns the hood elevates it to another level. Add in the metallic gold foil that wraps the front and back, along with the slightly leaner front end, and you have a vehicle that looks like it is made for speed.

11/15

Dawning Cheer

Dawning Cheer - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
Some traditions are too good to be true.

How To Unlock: Acquire by participating in the annual Dawning event.

Getting crazy with designs can be a mixed bag. However, whenever the team at Bungie embraces a Holiday for their design inspiration, they always seem to nail it. Dawning Cheer is a prime example that lets you live out your dreams of playing Santa across the Galaxy. There’s just something cheerful and hilarious about running wild with a jet-powered sleigh.

10/15

Brumeswept Night

Brumeswept Night
By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams or by purchasing from the Eververse when available.

Even better than the Dawning Cheer is the Brumeswept Night. This vehicle fully embraces Halloween, ditches the traditional size and framework for other Sparrows, and basically makes you a Guardian Witch. It’s quirky and represents a huge design change which likely took a lot of work for something that only a small percentage will really value.

9/15

Synchrotron Accelerator

Synchrotron Accelerator - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
“Humanity’s records show numerous instances of advanced science being perceived as supernatural. Perhaps today’s magic is tomorrow’s theorem.” — Master Rahool

How To Unlock: Purchase from the Eververse when available.

Released during Season of the Chosen, the Synchroton Accelerator embraces the refined but dangerous nature that Sparrows embody. The sleek and majestic frame reflects the rounded look of Fusion Rifles and even incorporates a deadly-looking energy grid amidst the three front prongs. If this thing started spinning and shot out a laser, I wouldn’t even be surprised.

8/15

Riis Racer

Riis Racer
“No! This one goes here, that one goes there!” — Amanda Holliday

How To Unlock: Unlock as part of the Season of the Splicer season pass.

The newest Exotic Sparrow on this list fully encapsulates the style of Season of the Splicer. It could almost be mistaken for your Splicer Gauntlet, but with more of a focus on the Vex thanks to the seat. The coolest thing about this Sparrow is the neon elements that frame the front prongs. It’s subtle and shows off just enough of a glow to be interesting.

7/15

Tilt Fuse

Tilt Fuse - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
“[whistle] With a few more revs, Zahn woulda turned this thing into the fastest bomb you never saw. Good thing for all of us he never got the chance.” — Amanda Holliday

How To Unlock: Drops randomly by completing the Nightfall version of The Arms Dealer Strike.

This Sparrow made its claim to fame as the first Exotic option to include the ability to spin in mid-air. Now, it just serves as a slick, Cabal-infused option that drops weirdly often during the Arms Dealer Strike. That’s okay, though, since this bulkier and more powerful Sparrow is worth collecting.

6/15

Micro Mini

Micro Mini
Beep, beep.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams or by purchasing from the Eververse when available.

Who needs a full-size vehicle when you can have the bumper car version? Similar to the Brumeswept Night, the really special thing about this Sparrow is how different the sizing and overall structure are. It’s a silly gag of a vehicle that still performs like all the rest, and is worth using to throw off your opponents.

5/15

Praxic Finery

Praxic Finery - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
Be the fire, or be smoke on the wind.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams.

Seemingly taking inspiration from the Iron Banner, this Exotic Sparrow just screams elegance. Leveraging a pure white with gold accents already looks slick. Throw in the winged design and rounded front runners, and you have a unique vehicle that’s clearly among the best Sparrows in Destiny 2. Sure, the main frame looks like plenty of others, but this is a good example of how to accentuate the right features to make it different.

4/15

Blood Runner

Blood Runnera
Remember the lost. Repay the debt.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams or by purchasing from the Eververse when available.

For the Hive fans out there, this Sparrow is for you. It retains the earthy, wormy, husk-like structure that should be familiar to anyone who has faced a Knight. The red hue sets it apart from being just another Hive visual on your screen and instead makes it seem like a deadly, otherworldly tool that could turn on you at any minute.

3/15

The Calypso

The Calypso - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
You’ll never be detained again.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams or by purchasing from the Eververse when available.

While the Riis Racer scratches the surface of the Tron aesthetic littered throughout Season of the Splicer, the Calypso embraces it whole-heartedly. The simplistic frame is completely overshadowed by the wall of electric blue light that makes up the front. It looks like it belongs in every new season. Now if only the energy wall actually did some damage.

2/15

Ravager’s Ride

Ravager's Ride
Not everything found in the depths of a prison should be left there.

How To Unlock: Acquire through random Bright Engrams.

Originally featured in the Forsaken expansion, the Ravager’s Ride perfectly embodies the style of that season. Think of an open-faced engine on industrial equipment — that’s what you get with this. The vehicle looks industrial, like it’s slammed together to make up a functioning Sparrow. This totally works, making for a bulkier, boxier, and more deadly-looking vehicle.

1/15

Harbinger’s Echo

Harbinger's Echo - Best Sparrows Destiny 2
“We each must play our part in the greater plan.” — Illyn

How To Unlock: Complete activities in the Dreaming City.

There has never been anything cooler in Destiny than the Taken Armor from the original game. It’s mysterious, ghostly, and drastically different from every other style you’ll come across. While that gear hasn’t made a comeback, the Harbinger’s Echo is the next best thing — and the best of the best Sparrows in Destiny 2, no matter which angle you look at it from. This Sparrow appears like it’s been fully infected by the Taken but left incomplete so that your Guardian can master it. It does require a lengthy amount of work in the Dreaming City to unlock, but it’s totally worth it in the end.
