Destiny 2: Rite of the Nine Weapons Guide

Keep on rolling.

The new Rite of the Nine event has no shortage of reprised weapons to hunt down. There are weapons from each of the three dungeons for you to farm, and each has received some updates since the last time we saw them. In this article I’ll go through all 12 weapons from Rite of the Nine and provide some recommended rolls for each!

New Pacific Epitaph (Stasis Grenade Launcher)

Best PVE Roll: Unrelenting or Rimestealer + Chain Reaction

Even now that we have more options for ad-clear grenade launchers these days, I’m still a fan of wave frame ones. New Pacific Epitaph has a solid PVE roll of Unrelenting + Chain Reaction that’s good for general use on any build, or you can use Rimestealer if you’re on a full Stasis build. There’s a lot of promise with this weapon, assuming you have a good build for a grenade launcher in general. I don’t know if it’s the best in slot right now, but it’s definitely worth picking up and seeing if you can make a build to optimize it.

Judgment (Stasis Hand Cannon)

Best PVE Roll: Headstone or Rapid Hit + Precision Instrument or Rimestealer

Best PVP Roll: Slideshot or Keep Away + Precision Instrument or Opening Shot

Judgment has a lot of potential as a PVP hand cannon. The origin trait Crossing Over gives really strong bonuses to range and handling for the top half of the mag and bonus damage for the bottom half, so no matter what it’s strong in a PVP setting. Slideshot is always a good perk for topping off ammo without reloading, which is especially good if you’re wanting the trait’s range boost. You can also use Keep Away for roughly the same boosts if you’re trying to optimize for the bonus damage from the origin trait instead. Precision Instrument is also a helpful perk for making sure you get high-damage headshots, but you could take Opening Shot instead if you’re looking for more consistency.

Relentless (Strand Pulse Rifle)

Best PVE Roll: Firefly + Elemental Honing

Best PVP Roll: Keep Away or Lone Wolf + Headseeker or Desperado

Relentless has some fun rolls for both PVE and PVP. In PVE, you can make use of Firefly’s solar damage to get more use out of Elemental Honing, which gives damage boosts for each type of elemental damage done beforehand. Then it has a pretty standard set of good PVP rolls, from Keep Away and Lone Wolf giving bonuses if you’re by yourself to Headseeker and Desperado’s combat perks.

Prosecutor (Arc Auto Rifle)

Best PVE Roll: Dragonfly or Eddy Current + Rolling Storm or Voltshot

Prosecutor is a really strong auto rifle for Arc builds. If you have a way to trigger the Amplified buff, you’ll get a lot of use out of Eddy Current for faster reload speed. Then Rolling Storm and Voltshot both provide additional Arc-oriented buffs. If you want more Bolt Charge stacks, go with Rolling Storm. If you’d rather have more ad-clear, go with Voltshot. Dragonfly is also available in the first slot if you’d rather have even more ad-clear over reload speed from Eddy Current.

Greasy Luck (Solar Glaive)

Best PVE Roll: Heal Clip or Melee Momentum + Unstoppable Force or Incandescent

As a devout Glaive enjoyer, I’m more than happy to have another one to chase down. Heal Clip is the best perk in the first slot in general, but if you’re focusing on melee attacks, Melee Momentum is arguably better. Then Unstoppable Force is always good on Glaives since it increases damage, but Incandescent also works well for solar builds.

Wilderflight (Void Grenade Launcher)

Best PVE Roll: Auto-Loading Holster or Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing Rounds

The Double Fire archetype for grenade launchers is one of the more unique ones in the game. This one has the always-reliable Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing Rounds combo which works perfectly with any Void build. But it also has Auto-Loading Holster, which I would argue is even better. Not having to reload grenade launchers is essential, so it’s always a viable option. I see a lot of potential for Wilderflight in any situation where you can make the Double Fire type work.

Long Arm (Arc Scout Rifle)

Best PVE Roll: Rapid Hit or Dual Loader + Explosive Payload or Rolling Storm

Best PVP Roll: Rapid Hit + Explosive Payload

There’s probably no weapon in Destiny 2 that I want to love more than Long Arm. I love the feel of Dead Man’s Tale, and having a version of that at legendary rarity is amazing. The original version of this gun wasn’t as good as it could have been, so it’s nice that this version is slightly better. Rapid Hit and Dual Loader are both solid perks to help with reloading the large mag, and it also has Explosive Payload which is literally always great. But we also now have Rolling Storm as an option, which makes Long Arm more viable in Arc builds with lots of Bolt Charge effects.

A Sudden Death (Void Shotgun)

Best PVE Roll: One-Two Punch + Trench Barrel

It’s been a while since I really enjoyed using a shotgun in PVE, but I feel like this one has a good shot at changing that. One-Two Punch and Trench Barrel is a perfect combo for shotguns, as it benefits from close range and melee attacks. One-Two Punch doubles the damage of your next melee attack after hitting an enemy with every pellet of a shot. Then Trench Barrel gives a weapon damage boost as well as bonus reload speed after a melee attack. So for Titans who want to run around meleeing everything, this is a perfect roll.

No Survivors (Solar SMG)

Best PVE Roll: Rewind Rounds, Attrition Orbs, or Heal Clip + Target Lock, Sword Logic, or Incandescent

Best PVP Roll: Rangefinder + Target Lock

Even though SMGs in general feel very underpowered right now, I’m a fan of No Survivors (especially since we have no idea how good SMGs might be with the next expansion). There are quite a few good perks on this thing for PVE, so you have plenty of options. Personally I’m most interested in Rewind Rounds + Target Lock and Heal Clip + Incandescent, but I don’t think you can go too wrong here. The PVP roll is a lot less exciting since Rangefinder is nowhere near as good as it used to be, but it’s still usable.

Terminus Horizon (Arc Machine Gun)

Best PVE Roll: Reconstruction or Dragonfly + Jolting Feedback, Rolling Storm, or Killing Tally

A good legendary Arc machine gun is something I love to see, especially with all these great perks. Reconstruction + Killing Tally and Dragonfly + Jolting Feedback are the two most exciting rolls, but I really think you could go with any combination of these to great effect.

Cold Comfort (Stasis Rocket Launcher)

Best PVE Roll: Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch

Cold Comfort has one of the best possible rolls for rocket launchers for DPS, but the origin traits are a disappointment. Since both involve reloading, they’re basically useless with this roll. I guess you could try and make a different roll work (maybe Impulse Amplifier + Explosive Light) but I feel like there’s not much reason to do so.

Liminal Vigil (Stasis Sidearm)

Best PVE Roll: Headstone + Rimestealer

Best PVP Roll: Lone Wolf + Kill Clip

For a heavy burst sidearm, Liminal Vigil is pretty average. I like the feel of it, but the rolls aren’t anything special. Headstone and Rimestealer are good for a PVE Stasis build, and Lone Wolf + Kill Clip is definitely a solid PVP roll. But there’s just not much here that really excites me, and I was hoping for more from this weapon’s rework.
