You don’t need four wheels to commit grand theft auto. Some of the best vehicles in GTA 5 run on two. Motorcycles aren’t just cool, they’re also incredibly useful. You can get up to speed a lot faster than you can in most cars and they’re invaluable when it comes to dodging your way through dense traffic and narrow corridors. They’re also incredibly fun to race!
Not all motorcycles in GTA 5 and GTA Online are created equal though. Some of them are significantly better than others. That’s why we at High Ground Gaming decided to come up with this list of the best motorcycles in GTA 5 and GTA Online ranked from worst to best (we’ll also show how to get them). That way you can cruise through the city-streets of Los Santos in style, then zip through the crowd when you need to make a quick getaway.
Ready to ride through the busy streets of Los Santos? It’s time to rank the best motorcycles in Grand Theft Auto from worst to best!
Ranking the 10 Best Motorcycles in GTA 5
Before we check out the ranking of best motorcycles in GTA 5, note that many of the vehicles available in GTA Online aren’t available in Story Mode (unless you engage in some fairly complicated modding). Don’t worry, though, we’ve marked each option to show which game you’ll find it in.
10/10
Maibatsu Manchez Scout
- Price: $225,000
- Location: GTA Online | Warstock Cache & Carry
- Top Speed: 118.9 mph
Most of the bikes we’re going to feature on this list are here for speed, handling, and style, but we thought it was important that there was at least one dirt bike here for those who prefer to go dune hopping or cut through the rugged hills surrounding the city.
The Manchez Scout was added to GTA Online as part of the Cayo Perico Heist update back in January. The design is based on the real life 500cc KTM. It’s speed, acceleration and handling are all great. Just cross your fingers and hope you never need to slam the breaks!
9/10
Pegassi Vortex
- Price: $356,000
- Location: GTA Online | Southern San Andreas Super Autos
- Top Speed: 121.4
Some of the best bikes in GTA Online are made by Pegassi and the Vortex is the first one on our list. It’s a streetfighter style racing bike with a little bit of old school café racer aesthetic thrown in for good measure. It was added as part of the 1.36 Bikers update in 2016 and its design is based on the Ducati 1199 Panigale.
It’s competitive with bikes like the Defiler and the Akuma, matching them for speed, but not quite living up to them when it comes to cornering. It is nicer (and cheaper) than the Lecto however.
8/10
Shitzu Defiler
- Price: $412,000
- Location: GTA Online | Southern San Andreas Super Autos
- Top Speed: 121.4 mph
Coming in at number 8 on our list of the best GTA 5 and GTA Online motorcycles is the Defiler from Shitzu. This bike was designed to look like a sports bike that was modified into a streetfighter, giving it a sort of squished appearance, but it has the chops to keep up with its peers.
Its acceleration is second to none and its speed is among the best in the game. It’s breaking is less than ideal, but who needs breaks anyway, right? It just edges out the Akuma in terms of technical performance even though we ranked it lower.
7/10
Dinka Akuma
- Price: $9,000
- Location: GTA 5 + GTA Online | Southern San Andreas Super Autos
- Top Speed: 118.9
The Vortex, Deliler, and Akuma are pretty much neck-and-neck when it comes to basic performance stats which makes ranking them sort of arbitrary. Based on the real-life Ducati Monster, there are a couple advantages that Dinka’s classic crotch rocket has that edge out the competition however.
First of all, the Dinka Akuma is the only one of the three which is available in story mode. You’re going to want this guy in your garage if you’re still playing Franklin, Michael and Trevor’s campaign. Secondly, it’s a two-seater, making it useful for missions where you have to transport more than one person. Thirdly, it’s so much less expensive than the other two, making it a great bike to buy while saving up for one of the best motorcycles in the game.
6/10
Pegassi Oppressor
- Price: $3,524,500
- Location: GTA Online | Warstock Cache & Carry
- Top Speed: 121.4
According to the Warstock Cache Carry’s description, “There are two kinds of people in the point one percent. There’s the balding stock analyst with pituitary issues, staring out the window of his comfortable private jet on the approach into LSIA. And there’s the guy mooning him as he screams past on a rocket-powered hyperbike with extendable wings and a front-mounted machine gun. The only question is, which side of the glass do you want to be on?”
That’s right, the Pegassi Oppressor has retractable wings to glide. It isn’t just a gimmick though. It’s legitimately one of the faster bikes in the game and its rear-mounted rocket booster can give it an extra burst of speed when you need it. The stock dual-mounted machine guns can even be upgraded to Rocket launchers for when you want things to get really messy.
5/10
Pegassi Bati 801RR
- Price: $15,000
- Location: GTA 5 + GTA Online | Southern San Andreas Super Autos
- Top Speed: 135.0 mph
Want the fastest motorcycle in GTA 5 and GTA Online? Then you’re going to want the Pegassi Bati 801RR. The original Bati was already an amazing piece of digital machinery, but the race and relay edition dials that blinding speed up to 11. It doesn’t even come close to hitting the 210 mph top speed promised in the description, but does hit a comfortable 135 mph (according to Broughy1322) which still puts it ahead of it’s contemporaries. To top it all off? It’s actually one of the more affordable bikes on this list.
You get to use it in the single-player campaign too, making it the fastest motorcycle for GTA 5 Story Mode. Customize its appearance with different branding and color schemes so you can feel like a real sponsored racer, then prepare for your quick getaway!
4/10
Pegassi Oppressor MKII
- Price: $3,890,250
- Location: GTA Online | Warstock Cache & Carry
- Top Speed: 121.4 mph
Was the first Pegassi Oppressor a little too conventional for your taste? Allow me to introduce the Oppressor MKII. The coolest motorcycle in the game, if not the fastest. I know that there are some people out there pushing their glasses up the bridge of their noses, saying, “actually the Oppressor MKII isn’t a motorcycle at all, it’s a hover bike” and I do not care. It’s awesome, so it’s going on the list!
This floating death machine was inspired by a conceptual hoverbike designed by BMW back in 2017. It costs almost 4 million and can only be upgraded inside a specialized workshop called the Benefactor Terrobyte. I’d argue that it’s worth the effort though.
3/10
Western Apocalypse Deathbike
- Price: $1,389,000
- Location: GTA Online | Arena Workshop
- Top Speed: 150 mph
The Arena War shop describes the Apocalypse Deathbike as “Angel of Death meets open sewer” and that feels like a fair assessment. Most of the bikes in GTA 5 and GTA Online tend to look fairly clean and new, but the Apocalypse Deathbike looks more like something out of Mad Max. You can only get it at the Arena War workshop.
With the highest top speed of any land vehicle (150 mph), this is without a doubt the fastest motorcycle GTA 5 Online has to offer. Plus, this bike comes with several abilities! It can be equipped with jump mods and boost upgrades, armor against explosives, miniguns and sawblades. It’s a bit more Borderlands than your traditional GTA vehicle.
2/10
Shitzu Hakuchou Drag
- Price: $976,000
- Location: GTA Online | Legendary Motorsport
- Top Speed: 130.4
Next up is a top contender for best motorcycle in GTA 5 Online, AKA the Shitzu Hakuchou Drag.
The Hakuchou Drag, or the Hakuchou Custom, is a specialized version of the Shitzu Hakuchou which has shaved mirrors, short exhausts, a stretched swing arm and a whole-lotta-chrome. It has similar handling to the original, but with a higher top speed. It suffers from a little bit of understeer at high speeds however.
It’s not the best for freemode since the exposed rear tire makes it an easy target, but it’s one of the best racing bikes in the game. Bonus points for being a two-seater!
1/10
Nagasaki Shotaro
- Price: $2,225,000
- Location: GTA Online | Legendary Motorsport
- Top Speed: 130.8 mph
Want to ride one of the light speeders from Tron: Legacy in a GTA game? I have excellent news!
The number one spot on our list of the best motorcycles in GTA 5 and GTA Online goes to the Nagasaki Shotaro. It was added as part of the 1.36 Bikers update and has been the reigning king of two wheeled vehicles ever since. It just barely edges out the Hakuchou Drag in speed and matches it in breaking and acceleration, while falling just behind it in handling. You can also use the Bunny Hop ability to bounce over opponent’s trails
Get one of these and you’ll be lighting up the Los Santos night in no time!
