While cars are quite literally the name of the game in GTA Online, that doesn’t mean they are the only kind of vehicle worth adding to your collection. In addition to the wide array of supercars and sports cars, there is also a HUGE number of helicopters and airplanes for you to get around the map with! But if you want to reliably use aircraft in GTA 5 Online, you’ll need a hangar to store them in first!
Of course, these don’t come cheap, so you’ll want to spend your money on the best hangar in GTA 5 Online. There are five different hangars to choose from, and in today’s article, we are going to be ranking each and every one of them, from worst to best.
Hangar Overview
But before we dive right into the ranking, we should first cover some of the basics about hangars in GTA 5 Online.
First, what is a hangar? They are a special property/business in GTA 5 Online. Purchasing one allows players to store aircraft, such as military helicopters, luxury jets, various airplanes, and more. Additionally, you can also upgrade and customize your aircraft from hangars if you own the workshop upgrade.
In addition to storing various different vehicles, you can also use this location to make money through its illegal smuggling business. If you enter your office inside the hangar, you can sit at the laptop and launch a source mission. In this source mission, you will be able to steal various different illegal goods that can be sold at a later date for a large amount of cash! The payouts for this business were permanently doubled in a recent update, so there has never been a better time to get into hangars.
Like most properties in GTA 5 Online, your hangar can be upgraded and customized with a wide variety of different options. As previously mentioned, you can purchase a workshop to upgrade your aircraft at. You can also get a bedroom to spawn at this location from. There are also a variety of different options for colors, lighting, and murals you can get to truly make this property your own.
Every Hangar in GTA 5 Online, Ranked Worst to Best
With that introduction finished and over with, let’s hop right into the main article!
5/5
LSIA Hangar 1
The first one up on our list is Hangar 1, located at LSIA. This hangar is definitely on the cheaper side when looking at all the hangars in the game. However, for an LSIA hangar, it isn’t exactly cheap. It will cost players exactly $1,525,000 to purchase, making it the most expensive hangar at this location. For comparison, the other hangar located at LSIA is $325,000 cheaper.
Getting a hangar at LSIA isn’t the most practical thing to do if you are looking to get into the business aspect of hangars. While it is true that many sourcing missions will take you to Los Santos, just as many will take you to Blaine County, you’ll save more time overall if you get a location at the Zancudo Military Base instead.
I’m not really a big fan of the exterior of this location. It looks very boxy and uninspired. Many people will not care too much about exterior looks. But if you are one of the players who do, then this isn’t the location for you.
4/5
LSIA Hangar A17
Up next, we have the sister location to the previous hangar… LSIA Hangar A17. This is a noticeably cheaper property that will only set you back $1,200,000. It’s without a doubt the cheapest hangar in the game, making it a great buy if you don’t care about doing the business side of the Smuggler’s Run DLC and just want a place to store your aircraft at.
Much like the previous location, this hangar isn’t that great of a fit for doing the smuggling business. About half the time you will be flying all the way up to Blane County, with some of the missions even taking you to the most northern point on the map, making this location less than ideal. Even if a lot of the missions will take you to Los Santos, that doesn’t make it worth getting over some of the next hangars. This is the best spot to get if you are only looking for a place to store aircraft, however.
The exterior appearance of this hangar looks pretty good. It has a triangular-shaped roof, with a Pegasus logo on the front of it. It’s definitely a nice-looking hangar to drive your aircraft into when you are returning from a mission or going to store a vehicle. The interior looks exactly the same as the others on the inside, of course, so don’t think you’re going to get a unique interior with this one.
3/5
Fort Zancudo Hangar A2
Taking spot number three on our list, we have Fort Zancudo Hangar A2! This is without a doubt the most expensive hangar property in GTA 5 Online. It requires a total sum of exactly $3,250,000! If money is no object to you, then this shouldn’t deter you from getting it. But if you are on a budget and want to do the business side of things, then skip out on this one and get one of the other two locations.
This hangar is located on the most eastern side of the Zancudo military base. Because you are getting a hangar in the military base, this means that you won’t get a wanted level when flying through Zancudo air space! Additionally, there are plenty of Lazar jets that spawn right outside this location. You can easily highjack one and take it for a spin if you are looking for a free military jet. Be warned, the runway is a bit cluttered in this location, so you’ll need to be careful when entering and exiting.
Visually, this location is just okay. It’s better looking than the LSIA Hangar 1 location but suffers from some of the same issues. It has a boxy appearance that I don’t really like that much. But if you do want a rugged, more militaristic look for your hangar’s exterior, you should get this one.
2/5
Fort Zancudo Hangar 3497
Taking spot number 2, we have Fort Zancudo Hangar 3497. Like the previous location, this one is located at the Zancudo military base, meaning you’ll be paying a higher price for it than the LSIA locations. This particular hangar will only cost you $2,085,000, making it the cheapest hangar at the military base. Buying this one instead of the A2 hangar will save you more than a million dollars!
This particular hangar is closest to the base’s main entrance, so it’s good if you are approaching the base by car. Being located in the middle left of the map, this is a great spot to do the hangar business from. Considering how cheap it is, you can get a return on your investment fast! Like all Fort Zancudo hangars, you will be able to fly through the air space without getting a wanted level if you own this location. There are also Lazar jets that spawn right outside, which you can easily steal and use freely.
I really like the exterior of this location. It has a round roof which reminds me of some of those old-school hangars. If you care about visual appearances, then this is a great spot to get. It’s definitely worth getting considering its low price.
1/5
Fort Zancudo Hangar 3499
In first place, it’s Fort Zancudo Hangar 3499. This location can be found on the western side of the military base, which is found on the middle-left side of the map. It will set back players a total of $2,650,000. This makes it a nice middle ground between the very expensive A2 hangar and the cheap 3497 hangar. I think this is another great choice, even with the increase in price from hangar 3497.
This particular location has the most open and easily accessible runway out of all the other spots. It has very little clutter on the outside, meaning your chances of damaging your aircraft when entering and exiting is minimal. One downside of this location is that Lazar jets do not spawn right outside it. But this location makes up for it.
As an MC President, you can spawn your Oppressor Mk II (or any other motorcycle) right next to you here, something that you can’t do at the other two locations! You’ll be using this vehicle more often than anything else, so I highly recommend getting this spot over the others.
The exterior design of this location is basically the same as the 3497 hangar. It still looks just as great, with a satisfying design that you’ll love if you are a big aviation fan. I’ve used this location for a long while, and I’ve got no complaints about it.
