With the Los Santos Drug Wars DLC, we’ve been given a wide variety of new content to experience in GTA Online. Whether it’s story-driven contact missions, brand-new vehicles, or even new ways to do business, this update had a big diversity of new things to offer players. One such addition to GTA Online is a new random event – the Shop Robbery!

This is a special random encounter that not only makes the word feel more alive but also allows players to make a pretty decent amount of cash with almost no work. We’ll cover everything you need to know about this new random event in this guide.

Shop Robbery Random Event in GTA Online

So without further ado, let’s jump into this guide for the NEW Shop Robbery random event in GTA Online!

Event Details and Rewards

This is a brand new random event that will only ever spawn at one of the convince stores or shops scattered around the map. You will know you’ve found it when you approach one of these locations and see a small red dot appear on the map, running away from the shop.

At this red dot, you will find an NPC–the person robbing the store–who is armed and carrying stolen cash. You have the opportunity to shoot and kill him, taking the cash for yourself. Once you get the money, you can do one of two things. You can get the cash for yourself, which will net you exactly $25,000 but give you a two-star wanted level.

Alternatively, you can return the cash to the store for a smaller reward of $20,000 and no wanted level. In addition to that, you will also be given the “Good Samaritan” award which you can view from the awards menu.

Either one of these options is pretty good for making some quick cash. I recommend you return it the first time you do the event to get the award. Then every time you do the event afterward, keep the money for yourself.

How to Trigger the Spawn

Getting this random event to spawn is pretty easy. First, you must be in a lobby that is AT LEAST 20 minutes old. After that, visit each one of the spawn locations scattered around the map until you see the red dot appear. This event can spawn at any store in the game–tattoo parlors, clothing shops, convenience stores, etc–so there are quite a few different places it can spawn in.

I recommend that you join a highly-populated session instead of making your own and waiting 20 minutes. This way you can start looking for the encounter right away, as chances are the highly populated lobby will be old enough at that point. You should also use a fast vehicle to get around–preferably the Oppressor Mk II if you have it–to visit each of the locations quickly.
