Lux is one of the most popular League of Legends champions. The Lady of Luminosity and her magical charm has won over many players. Quick to cater to fans of a rising star, Riot has released thirteen skins for her in total over the last decade. This is far more than the average Champion. In this article, I’m going to rank all the best Lux skins from worst to best, as well as give you some information about each one. Enjoy!
All 12 Lux Skins Ranked Worst to Best
Take a look at our ranking of all the Lux skins (including her new ones) below.
12/12
Commando Lux
Release Date: June 17, 2011 | Cost: 520 RP | New Animations/SFX: No
Commando Lux is easily the worst Lux skin. The theme of the skin doesn’t fit Lux’s character at all, and it also just looks horrible in-game. This is definitely a skin to avoid — I wouldn’t even unlock it if I got it from a shard.
11/12
Imperial Lux
Release Date: November 29, 2011 | Cost: Unavailable | New Animations/SFX: No
This skin suffers from many of the same issues as Commando Lux. It was made a decade ago, which already lowers its chances of being decent. Riot wasn’t exactly good at making skins back then, especially compared to the insanely high standards they hold themselves to now. Imperial Lux has luckily been updated to not be completely terrible compared to new skins, but it still leaves much to be desired.
10/12
Steel Legion Lux
Release Date: February 1, 2013 | Cost: 975 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
Steel Legion Lux definitely doesn’t make any sense as far as lore is concerned, but it’s not all that bad. It has unique animations that give it a significant boost over some skins, and the appearance is actually kind of cool (even though it doesn’t fit Lux’s character). Not an amazing skin by any standards, but it could definitely be worse.
9/12
Sorceress Lux
Release Date: October 19, 2010 | Cost: 520 RP | New Animations/SFX: No
Sorceress Lux is very similar to Spellthief Lux, just with a cool hat. Where Spellthief is a little more subtle, Sorceress doesn’t hold back from its theme. She’s a witch with a big witch hat. It doesn’t get more straightforward than that. I like this skin, but it’s nothing special.
8/12
Spellthief Lux
Release Date: October 19, 2010 | Cost: 750 RP | New Animations/SFX: No
Spellthief Lux is honestly not a very impressive skin, but it fits Lux’s character. It’s simple and stripped back compared to anything she gets today, but that’s one of its best qualities. The lack of unique animations and SFX does hold this skin back a bit, but I still highly recommend it. It’s also on the cheaper side, so it makes for a good first skin for Lux.
7/12
Battle Academia Lux
Release Date: May 15, 2019 | Cost: 1350 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
I’m not really sure why the Battle Academia skin line got so big, but here we are. Lux’s version is pretty solid, but it doesn’t do anything new in my opinion. If you’re someone that really likes this skin line in general, then you’ll love Lux’s version, so this one is really up to personal taste. Definitely give it a look.
6/12
Dark Cosmic / Cosmic Lux
Release Date: March 26, 2020 | Cost: 1820 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
I’m bundling both Dark Cosmic and Cosmic Lux into one entry here because they’re essentially the same skin in different colors. I like them both quite a bit, but they aren’t the first skins I’d recommend grabbing for Lux. They are certainly aesthetically pleasing, though.
5/12
Lunar Empress Lux
Release Date: February 8, 2018 | Cost: Unavailable | New Animations/SFX: Yes
Lunar Empress Lux is a simpler skin than some, and I love it for that. Instead of focusing on extreme gimmicks or novel ideas, they just made this one look nice. It doesn’t try too hard, and for that I commend it. Sadly, you can’t get this skin right now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it returns. And if it does, you should definitely get it.
4/12
Space Groove Lux
Release Date: April 1, 2021 | Cost: 1350 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
Space Groove Lux is honestly one of the weaker Space Groove skins, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. In fact, I see that as a testament to how good that skin line was. My favorite thing about Space Groove Lux is easily the new animations for her Q and ultimate abilities, but the overall appearance is also really nice. This is a great skin all around — I really can’t say anything bad about it.
3/12
Pajama Guardian Lux
Release Date: November 21, 2018 | Cost: 1350 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
To be honest, I really just love all the Pajama Guardian skins. Every one of them is a favorite of mine (especially Urgot’s), and I can’t imagine playing Lux without this skin. The Pajama Guardian skins definitely fall on the funnier side, so if you’re looking for something intimidating, this probably isn’t for you. But if you want a fun skin, you can’t go wrong here.
2/12
Star Guardian Lux
Release Date: May 17, 2015 | Cost: 1350 RP | New Animations/SFX: Yes
The Star Guardian skin line has been one of the most popular in League ever since it was introduced, and Lux’s is a shining example of why. The new animations it offers all look great, and the splash art is fantastic. If you’re looking for an excellent Lux skin that isn’t going to break your wallet, this is the one for you.
1/12
Elementalist Lux
Release Date: November 28, 2016 | Cost: 3250 RP | New Animations/SFX: Definitely
Elementalist Lux is without a doubt the best Lux skin. In fact, I’d say it might even be the best overall skin in League. As you progress through the game, you’re able to pick elements to change Lux’s appearance. This results in over ten different appearances for this one skin, and each one looks amazing. This is the definitive Lux skin, and I recommend it for everyone who plays her.
Become a High Grounder
Lux has more skins than almost any other Champion in League, so picking which to buy can be difficult. Hopefully you have some idea of what Lux skins you might want now and you’ll be able to spend your RP wisely! Don’t agree with this list?
