The Best Leona Skins in League of Legends, Ranked

Make Leona look even more radiant.

Leona isn’t just the radiant dawn in her champion lore — she’s the radiant dawn of the bot lane, making every ADC’s eyes light up with hope and happiness. The reason? She’s one of the most reliable, well-built tank supports in the game.

Her kit has the perfect combo of CC, engage, and defense, and while she may not be able to produce flashy plays like Rakan and Thresh, she can decimate the enemy team with a well-timed ultimate.

Whether you’re a current Leona OTP, or considering maining this champion for your next ranked venture, you’ll want a skin that does her justice.

I’ve ranked them all below from worst to best!

#12 Defender Leona

  • Release Date: July 13, 2011
  • Cost: 750 RP

Defender Leona is one of the few skins I have genuinely never seen used in the actual game (despite my veteran status). I honestly had to sift through Skin Spotlight videos to remember that it existed.

And…. it’s probably best this skin stays forgotten. Everything about it, from the character model to the colors, just takes the “solari” vibe out of Leona. It’s one-dimensional, clunky, and insanely dull.

#11 Valkyrie Leona

  • Release Date: July 13, 2011
  • Cost: 520 RP

Think of the word Valkyrie, and the first thing that comes to mind is the badass horse-riding battle maidens from Thor. Sadly, Valkyrie Leona doesn’t live up to that in any way, shape, or form. Sure, you do still see some Norse mythological inspiration in the skin, but it doesn’t stand out and the colors themselves fall flat.

All that said, the Valkyrie theme does work well with Leona’s lore. Plus, the winged helmet design is a nice touch.

#10 Debonair Leona

  • Release Date: December 9, 2021
  • Cost: 1350 RP

I know a fair few Leona mains are a fan of this skin, but I do feel it’s a bit overrated. While it’s a good quality, polished skin with slick animations, it doesn’t really honor Leona’s lore, nor does it give her that tank-like oomph that I’ve come to love about her. I also hate the green color palette — even the dapper-looking suit can’t redeem it. Sorry.

#9 PROJECT: Leona

  • Release Date: September 7, 2015
  • Cost: 1350 RP

There’s nothing inherently bad about PROJECT: Leona. It’s been a staple, all-round skin for many years, giving Leona plenty of beefy, mecha-inspired armor and a nifty holographic shield. However, I have to keep it at the 9th spot; another skin delivers on the whole mecha concept infinitely better — you’ll see what I mean shortly.

#8 Iron Solari Leona

  • Release Date: February 10, 2012
  • Cost: 975 RP

Iron Solari is one of the best-looking budget skins out there. It’s jampacked with details and avian inspo, like the feathered shoulder pads and the bird emblem on her shield (and yes, it’s a nice nod to Locket of the Iron Solari too).

But sadly, the details are too difficult to see in-game unless you zoom in… which would mean sacrificing your chances of gaining LP.

#7 Barbeque Leona

  • Release Date: September 7, 2016
  • Cost: 750 RP

Okay. This skin probably doesn’t deserve the 7th spot, but I can’t help it. I just love meme-worthy skins and Barbeque Leona delivers on all fronts! I can honestly never get tired of whacking my enemies with a skewered sausage or tanking beefy skillshots for my ADC while wearing a snazzy chef hat. It’s good stuff.

#6 DWG Leona

  • Release Date: April 29, 2021
  • Cost: 1350 RP

DWG Leona is sure to please any hardcore esports fan out there, but it honestly works great as a skin for casual LoL players too. The overall design transforms Leona into this unique mix between a Disney princess (I’m talking Elsa vibes) and a kickass warrior. It works surprisingly well and the colors are vibrant and gorgeous. Plus, the animations are honestly show-stopping considering its price and esports roots.

#5 Battle Academia Leona (and Prestige Edition)

  • Release Date: March 18, 2021
  • Cost: 1350 RP (Prestige requires Mythic Essence)

Otakus rejoice! Battle Academia Leona is a skin that takes undeniable inspiration from the anime “My Hero Academia.” So yep, you can finally live out your dreams of being a superhero in training while you battle it out on the Rift.

Jokes aside, there’s a whole lot to love about the character model and it’s not “weeby” to the point where your normie friends would judge you if you perma-used this skin for the rest of your LoL journey. The recall is also seriously fun.

To top it off, this skin does come with a nifty Prestige edition. While it’s not exactly budget-friendly, it’s worth the buck if you want to flex on your enemies; it gives Leona a Balenciaga-level makeover, with gorgeous gold hues and some extra elegant touches in the character model.

#4 Mecha Kingdoms Leona

  • Release Date: January 15, 2020
  • Cost: 1350 RP

Mecha Kingdoms Leona is the improved (and perfected) version of PROJECT: Leona. The character model is drop-dead stunning, with a whole load of battle-ready attire and mecha inspo, and the fiery, contrasting colors work together beautifully. Plus, the new voice filter just makes everything sound so much more intense and badass.

I honestly can’t fault this skin — even the animations are clean and distinct without being too obvious to the opponent’s eye. But I’m just personally not a diehard fan of mecha stuff, hence why this skin’s at the no.4 spot.

#3 Crystalis Motus Leona

  • Release Date: June 14, 2023
  • Cost: Mythic Essence

I’m a sucker for pastel hues, cute things, sparkles, and ethereal vibes. So, it should come as no surprise that Crystalis Motus Leona is right up my alley. It combines all of this into one skin, with a character model that could pass off as a fairy from another realm.

Sure, it doesn’t exactly capture Leona’s headstrong attitude, but I’m willing to overlook that in this instance. After all, I’m sure even Leona has a soft side under all that armor.

#2 Solar / Lunar Eclipse Leona

  • Release Date: November 27, 2018
  • Cost: 1820 RP

Solar and Lunar Eclipse are both breathtaking, visually impressive skins that make me want to admire them for hours on end. Their character models are god-tier, the sound effects are downright heavenly, and the animations are so insanely smooth that they physically stop me from ever using Leona’s clunky base model again — I just can’t lock in her OG skins after experiencing this bliss.

For those not familiar, Solar and Lunar Eclipse are essentially the same legendary skin, just with different color themes. I prefer the Solar version since it aligns with Leona’s character lore more, but Eclipse is equally great and ideal for those after a darker, mysterious vibe.

#1 High Noon Leona

  • Release Date: May 12, 2022
  • Cost: 1820 RP

High Noon Leona’s release shocked the whole LoL community. Mainly because it sounded like a downright impossible task. After all, how on earth can a clunky tank with bulky armor pull off cowboy attire?

Well, Riot proved our doubts wrong and delivered us one of the best skins to grace the Rift. It’s a total masterpiece — I mean, you just have to look at the splash art to see how original and ingenious Riot has been — and the animations are jampacked with Wild West goodness.

But the main reason why High Noon Leona has stolen the crown from the Eclipse skins? The homeguard animation lets you ride a fiery pony out of base. It’s neighin’ perfection.
