Warframe: Best Tennokai Mods and How To Get Them

Remember the lost arts of Tennokai.

Trained in several different schools of battle, the Tenno are masters of war. With the power of their Warframes, they can push any melee weapon to its absolute limit. This is where the art of Tennokai comes from.

In this guide, I’ll be going over every Tennokai mod, what they do, and how to get them.

What is Tennokai

Tennokai is an ability added to melee weapons through certain mods that are activated when hitting an enemy. When activated, Heavy Attacks and Slam Attacks increase in Wind Up Speed and do not consume Combo Counter.

How To Get Tennokai Mods

Luckily for us, all Tennokai mods except for one are found in the same mission. That means there’s a good chance you’ll get most of them while grinding for the specific mod you want.

All Tennokai mods are awarded from Rotation C of Alchemy missions on Cambire, Deimos. The only mod that can’t be grabbed there, Mentor’s Legacy, is awarded for completing the Whisper’s in the Walls quest. A quest that is necessary for unlocking Cambire, Deimos.

Best Tennokai Mods

Tennokai mods are very straightforward and can fit into any melee build that has the space for it. There’s also not a lot of competition for the Exilus slot on melee weapons so there’s no reason not to put this on a melee weapon you use often.

Dreamer’s Wrath

Not only does Dreamer’s Wrath increase the opportunity of Tennokai activating, but it also increases your Heavy Attack Critical damage.

On characters like Valkyr and Excalibur where you can put Tennokai mods on their exalted weapons, I never had a problem with getting Tennokai to activate, and the extra heavy crit is devastating. This makes this mod leagues better than a mod like Discipline’s Merit since we aren’t worried about activation chances.

Master’s Edge

It’s hard to beat a straight damage buff in Warframe. Master’s Edge gives us a flat 60% bonus for Tennokai damage. As I said before, I never had a problem with getting Tennokai to activate, especially on Warframes with Exalted Weapons. I also never had a problem with hitting Tennokai when it was activated, making Opportunity’s Reach only useful for its range buff.

You could make the argument that Condition’s Perfections Status Chance buff is better, but unless you’re building specifically for Statuses, which other weapon types are going to do better, then sticking with the flat damage buff is safer.

All Tennokai Mods

All the Tennokai mods are as follows:

(All mods enable Tennokai by default)

Mod NameEffect
Mentor’s LegacyEnables Tennokai
Condition’s PerfectionIncreases status chance by +100% on Tennookai attacks.
Discipline’s MeritOpportunities occur every 4 melee hits instead of at random
Dreamer’s WrathIncrease opportunity chance by 50% and Heavy Attack critical damage by 32%
Master’s EdgeIncrease Tennokai damage by 60%
Opportunity’s ReachIncrease Opportunity window to 4 seconds and melee range by 3m for Tennokai attacks.

How To Use Tennokai Mods

Tennokai mods are very straightforward and can fit into any melee build that has the space for it. There’s also not a lot of competition for the Exilus slot on melee weapons so there’s no reason not to put this on a melee weapon you use often.
