In a game as big as Warframe, Digital Extremes has done a great job at making their ever-growing list of playable Warframe feel unique. Despite that, they’ve also added a bunch of systems in the game to further customize the Warframe. One of these systems is the augment mods.
There are a lot of augment mods in the game, so in this guide, I’ll be going over the best augment mods to grab to get the most out of your hard-earned Syndicated standing.
What Are Augment Mods
If you don’t already know, Augment Mods are a special type of mod in that game that alters Warframe ability and passives. In some cases, this can fundamentally change the way certain Warframes play.
These mods are great for ‘Frames who may still be awaiting a much-needed rework or feel a little underpowered after all the various changes Warframe has gone through in its long life.
How to Get Augment Mods
The good news is that Augment Mods are incredibly easy to get with no need to worry about low drop chances. The bad news is that it requires max rank in one of the six main Syndicates. And not every Syndicate will have the Augment Mod for every Warframe.
Each Syndicate favors a specific Warframe, so your best bet is to choose two Syndicates with the least overlap and get a friend aligned with two separate Syndicates since these mods can be traded amongst players. If that fails, players are always willing to trade mods on the market.
The Syndicates and the Warframes they favor are as follows:
Syndicate Name | Warframes |
---|---|
Arbiters of Hexis | Ash, Baruuk, Equinox, Excalibur, Excalibur Umbra, Gara, Gauss, Gyre, Harrow, Inaros, Limbo, Loki, Mirage, Nyx, Protea, Styanax, Volt, Wukong |
Cephalon Suda | Banshee, Chroma, Frost, Hildryn, Hydroid, Ivara, Limbo, Mirage, Nezha, Nova, Octavia, Revenant, Sevagoth, Vauban, Wisp, Xaku, Yareli |
Steel Meridian | Atlas, Citrine, Ember, Excalibur, Frost, Garuda, Grendel, Khora, Kullervo, Mesa, Nezha, Nidus, Nova, Oberon, Rhino, Saryn, Voruna, Xaku |
Red Veil | Ash, Atlas, Citrine, Ember, Excalibur Umbra, Garuda, Grendel, Harrow, Khora, Lavos, Loki, Mesa, Nekros, Saryn, Titania, Volt, Voruna, Zephyr |
New Loka | Baruuk, Equinox, Gara, Hydroid, Kullervo, Lavos, Mag, Nyx, Oberon, Octavia, Styanax, Titania, Trinity, Valkyr, Wisp, Wukong, Yareli, Zephyr |
The Perrin Sequence | Banshee, Chroma, Gauss, Gyre, Hildryn, Inaros, Ivara, Mag, Nekros, Nidus, Protea, Revenant, Rhino, Trinity, Valkyr, Vauban, Sevagoth |
Top Augment Mods
Now that we know what Augment Mods are and where to get them, here are the top Augment Mods to grab in no particular order:
Chromatic Blade – Excalibur
- Exalted Blade Augment: Exalted Blade’s Damage Type changes depending on Excalibur’s Emissive Color, and Status Chance is increased by 300%.
This augment turns Excalibur into the status-applying king. Being able to swap elements based on Emissive Color means you have more free mod slots for Exalted Blade.
The huge bonus to Status Chance also ensures you will always be applying your element. This makes Viral and Corrosive builds incredibly powerful.
Eternal War – Valkyr
- Warcry Augment: While active, Warcy’s duration is increased by 2s for each Melee Kill.
This augment is almost necessary if running Valkyr with a melee build (which you probably should be doing anyway). Since the duration increase per enemy is based on Ability Duration, with a little investment you can easily get maxed Warcry duration in seconds. The increased attack speed and armor are really helpful in high-level missions, and this mod is a bit of a no-brainer.
Temporal Erosion – Protea
- Temporal Anchor Augment: While Temporal Anchor is active, each strike of Grenade Fan and Blaze Artillery strips 10% of Armor from enemies.
While I’d bet money Temporal Anchor is the ability most places replace using the Helminth System, this augment mod actually gives it some use. Not only does this give Protea some reliable Armor strip, but increasing your Ability Strength increases the amount of Armor stripped away per strike.
With high enough Ability Strength, you can erase armor from enemies like the Stalker’s Acolytes and Liches in the blink of an eye.
Despoil – Nekros
- Desecrate Augment: No longer consumes Energy, but consumes 10 Health per corpse instead.
This is another no-brainer augment for anyone who wants to farm efficiently. Desecrate is one of the best abilities for farming because of its ability to force enemies to drop additional loot. Making it so this ability runs on Health means you can essentially keep it active forever.
Desecrate already causes more Health Orbs to drop mitigating the loss of Health from this augment somewhat. Combine this with Nekros’ passive which has him heal whenever someone dies near him and Equilibrium which causes Energy Orbs to heal as well and there’s essentially no cost for this augment.
Cathode Current – Gyre
- Cathode Grace Augment: Eliminating an enemy while Cathode Grace is active will release an additional discharge from Rotorswell with 200% Damage and extend its duration by the same amount.
This is another great augment that makes Gyre incredibly powerful. Cathode Grace is already a powerful ability because of its increased Critical Chance and Energy Regen. Cathode Current is the reason you see Gyre players hitting groups with Red Crits all the time.
Cathode Grace and Rotorswell were already meant to work together. Cathode Current just gets rid of the annoying need to recast Rotorswell. Combine this with a mod like Archon Stretch and Ability Strength mods and you can easily reach 100% uptime with this ability.
