Nothing stops an enemy in their tracks more than the fear of death. And while the Tenno are all hurricanes of death, none embody this primal fear more than Nekros.
Adept at controlling the battlefield with his undead minions and ability to terrify, Nekros is also an important Warframe for resource grinding.
Nekros Prime Overview
Stats
- Health: 270 (370 at Rank 30)
- Shields: 455 (555 at Rank 30)
- Armor: 135
- Energy: 140 (190 at Rank 30)
Passive:
Restore 5 Health with every enemy death within 10m.
Abilities
Soul Punch (1st Ability)
Nekros fires a telekinetic blast at an enemy, forcing the enemy’s soul out of its body and turning it into a projectile. If the initial enemy hit is at 25% or less health it instantly lies.
Not exactly a go-to move in Nekros’ kit, Soul Punch isn’t exactly a good alternative to simply killing an enemy with your weapons, but it does provide some knockback for any CC needs.
Terrify (2nd Ability)
Nekros casts fear on all surrounding enemies causing them to panic. While panicked, these enemies will not attack and run away, reducing their armor.
This move is excellent for Crowd Control when you’re in a bad situation. Causing enemies to run away will give you some breathing room if you’re in danger. The best feature of this ability, however, is the armor strip. At high enough power strength, you can fully strip an enemy’s armor.
Desecrate (3rd Ability)
Emitting a wave of dark power, Nekros causes enemy corpses to drop additional loot. It also increases the chance of dropping health orbs.
This is one of Nekros’ best abilities and the reason why many people recommend grabbing him when you’re starting Warframe. Being able to cause enemies to drop additional can significantly speed up resource grinding and will make any ally you do survival missions with happy.
With its augment Despoil, you can cause the ability to spend health instead of energy. With Nekros’ passive this means you can essentially have Desecrate up all the time.
Shadows of the Dead (Fourth Ability)
Nekros summons shadow versions of slain enemies that attack enemies around them.
While the AI in Warframe means most summons aren’t very useful, the augment for this ability elevates it. While the shadows can help draw aggro from enemies, the Shield of Shadows augment causes a portion of damage received by Nekros to redirect to his shadows. This helps increase Nekros’ survivability by a ton.
How to Get Nekros Prime
Unfortunately, Nekros Prime has been vaulted which means he currently can’t be gotten in the game by normal means. The only chance would be to trade it with another player or wait for it to be unvaulted.
Luckily, this build still works with normal Nekros, as the difference between a normal Warframe and a Prime Warframe is nominal.
Nekros’ parts can be purchased from the Market for credits, and his parts can be farmed by defeating Lephantis on Magnacidium, Deimos.
Undying Nekros
Despite looking frail, Nekros can be very tanky and this build will focus on that. It will also focus on using Desecrate to get more resources meaning this build will be perfect for endless missions like Survival.
Mod Choice
The mod choice for this build is as follows:
- Equilibrium: An important mod for any build focused on taking health/energy orbs, this mod pairs well with Desecrate since you’ll be producing more health orbs.
- Stretch: This mod will allow our Terrify to reach more people, meaning more enemies running in fear and more enemies with stripped armor.
- Transient Fortitude: Since Terrify’s armor strip and Shadows of the Deads bonus damage are buffed by power strength, we want to get this stat up.
- Primed Continuity: Terrify and Shadows of the Dead effects also rely on duration so we take this mod to keep these effects on for as long as possible.
- Umbral Intensify: Just like Transient Fortitude, we use this mod to increase our power strength.
- Health Conversion: A fun mod that works well with Desecrate, this mod increases our armor by 450 when we pick up a health orb. Since we will constantly be grabbing health orbs this will likely always be active.
- Shield of Shadows: Our first augment mod, this will allow us to transfer damage to our shadows making it harder for us to die.
- Despoil: Our second augment mod, this mod allows Desecrate to take from our health instead of energy. Since we’ll be getting health near constantly this won’t be a problem at all.
- Aura Mod: There are a couple of mods that can work with this build. Corrosive Projection will make it so your Terrify can fully strip the enemy’s armor more easily. Rejuvenation gives us constant health regen, negating health loss from Desecrate even more, and Physique increases our max health total.
Arcanes
- Arcane Blessing: Another aspect of this build that works with Desecrate, this arcane increases our max health on health pickup. After a couple of minutes into the mission, you’ll have way more health than you know what to do with.
- Arcane Guardian: This arcane will help us put the undying in this build. When damaged, this arcane has a chance of increasing our armor significantly for 20 seconds.
Helminth Abilities
As cool as it is, Soul Punch can be swapped out without affecting our build in any way. There are a couple of Helminth options that provide way better bonuses.
- Eclipse (Mirage): This ability reduces the damage we take from enemies, or increases our weapon damage when the ability is held. Even in its diminished version, more damage reduction is always good.
- Roar (Rhino): The go-to ability for anything that needs a flat power strength boost. Roar is a good option if you can’t reach the power strength you want.
Weapons & Gear
For this build, any weapon will do. Most of our survivability comes from our abilities and mods, so bring whatever you need to kill the enemies.
