With the end of The New War came a bunch of new goodies for our Tenno to play with. One of these goodies is Archon Mods, which are alternative versions of mods with unique effects that juice up Warframe abilities.
If you’ve been wondering what Archon Mods are then look no further. In this guide, I’ll be going over what Archon Mods are, where you can get them, and how you can use them.
What Are Archon Mods?
Archon mods are alternative versions of Warframe Mods with higher maximum drain than their counterparts with stats equivalent to their Prime counterparts if they have one. The main aspect of these mods, however, is the unique effects of each mod that synergize with Warframe abilities.
How to Get Archon Mods
Lucky for us, Archon Mods are easy to get compared to other mods in the game since we don’t need to worry about drop tables when getting them.
To get these mods, players must first complete The New War quest, and then the Veilbreaker optional quest. Once completed you unlock new activities regarding the Archons, as well as the Kahl Garrison Syndicate.
Once you reach rank 2 with the Syndicate a new vendor, Chipper, appears at Kahl’s settlement. Chipper provides new items, including the Archon Mods, that can be purchased with Stock, the unique resource found in Kahl’s weekly missions. To get the Archon Mods quickly, you want to prioritize completing every optional quest in Kahl’s mission to get extra Stock. You also want to complete Kahl’s mission every week as every weekly mission completed levels up the Kahl Garrison Syndicate.
All Archon Mods
Now that we know how to get them, let’s look at all the Archon Mods and what they do:
Mod Name | Primary Effect | Secondary Effect | Original Mods |
---|---|---|---|
Archon Continuity | +55% Ability Duration | Abilities that inflict a Toxin status effect will also apply a Corrosive status effect. | Continuity |
Archon Flow | +185% Energy Max | Enemies killed by Cold Abilities have a 10% chance to drop Energy Orbs. Cooldown: 10s. | Flow |
Archon Intensify | +30% Ability Strength | Restoring health with abilities grants +30% Ability Strength for 10s. | Intensify |
Archon Stretch | +45% Ability Range | Abilities that deal with Electricity Damage restore +2 Energy/s over 5s. | Stretch |
Archon Vitality | +100% Health | Status Effects from abilities that deal Heat Damage will be applied twice | Vitality |
How to Use Archon Mods
Archon Mods were made to specifically interact with Warframe Abilities in certain ways. This means that not every Archon Mod can be used on every Warframe. Looking at the secondary effects, however, you can tell that some of these mods were made for specific Warframe.
Here are a couple of examples of how these Archon Mods can be used to give an example of how they work:
Archon Continuity
You might think a Warframe like Saryn would be perfect for a mod like this, but unfortunately, most of her moves don’t work with the secondary effect of this mod. What does work are any Warframes that come with an Exalted Weapon.
When modded for Toxin damage, Exalted Weapons will activate the secondary effect of Archon Continuity making it easy to stack two elements onto your weapon. This means abilities like Excalibur’s Exalted can be made to apply both Toxin and Corrosive damage with only two mods.
Archon Flow
Frost can utilize this mod very easily since all of his abilities deal Cold damage. Throw this on him and maintaining Energy shouldn’t be an issue if you’re able to easily kill enemies with your abilities.
Archon Intensify
There are a lot of Warframes that have abilities or augment mods that allow some form of healing through abilities, so there are a bunch of ways to use this mod.
One fun way is to put this on Equinox because of her ability to heal and damage with her abilities. You can activate the secondary effect with her Night Form’s Mend, then switch to her Day Form and benefit from the additional Ability Strength with all of her abilities.
Archon Stretch
Archon Stretch almost seems like it was made for Gyre with how well it synergizes with her. Because Gyre is built around spreading as many Electricity Procs as possible, this mod will ensure she always has the Energy to continue casting. The primary effect of additional range makes it even easier for abilities like Rotorswell to hit more enemies.
Archon Vitality
Much like Archon Flow, it’s pretty easy to see who would benefit the most from a mod like this. Slap this on Ember and almost all of her abilities deal double damage.
A less obvious choice, which I use liberally when I play, is to put this mod on Protea so her Blaze Artillery has some extra kick.
