The Best Vulpaphyla in Warframe

Everything you need to know about grooming Vulpaphyla

Warframe is a game that lets you live out many of your space-faring power fantasies. One is the ability to take your trusty furry companion and rid the galaxy of evil. Or in the case of the Vulpaphyla, a scaly-infested fox thing.

Either way, it’s cute, has razor-sharp claws, and can help enhance certain builds. In this guide, I’ll be going over the best Vulpaphyla subspecies and how to get them.

Acquisition

There are a couple of things players need before getting their infested companion. The first is access to the Cambion Drift on Deimos and the Entrati Syndicate. You then need three components: a Mutagen, an Antigen, and a Weakened Subspecies.

Once you have all three of these components, you can go to the Son to go through the Revivification process to obtain your new companion.

Components

As I mentioned above, the Vulpaphyla requires three components to be made which determine its stats, type, and looks.

Mutagen

The Mutagen helps determine the appearance of the Vulpaphyla’s tail and its damage resistance. There are four Mutagens to choose from:

  • Adra: Grants Heat and Puncture resistances. Requires rank 1: Stranger with Entrati Syndicate and costs 1250 Standing.
  • Elsa: Grants Electricity and Slash resistances. Requires rank 2: Acquaintance with Entrati Syndicate and costs 2500 Standing.
  • Zarim: Grants Cold and Impact resistances. Requires rank 3: Associate with Entrait Syndicate and costs 4000 Standing
  • Phijar: Grants Toxin and Slash resistances. Requires rank 4: Friend with Entrati Syndicate and costs 6000 Standing.

Antigen

The Antigen determines the appearance of the Vulpaphyla’s head/neck and the first Polarity slot. There are four Antigens to choose from:

  • Desus: Grants the Vazarin Polarity. Requires rank 1: Stranger with Entrati Syndicate and costs 1250 Standing.
  • Virox: Grants the Madurai Polarity. Requires rank 2: Acquaintance with Entrati Syndicate and costs 2500 Standing.
  • Plagen: Grants the Naramon Polarity. Requires rank 3: Associate with Entrait Syndicate and costs 4000 Standing.
  • Poxi: Grants the Penjaga Polarity. Requires rank 4: Friend with Entrati Syndicate and costs 6000 Standing.

Subspecies

The Subspecies determines the head of the Vulpaphyla and the type of Vulpaphyla. The kind of Vulpaphyla also determines Subspecies specific mods that can be used. There are three Subspecies to choose from:

  • Crescent: Grants the Crescent Charge and Crescent Devolution mods.
  • Panzer: Grants the Viral Quills and Panzer Devolution mods.
  • Sly: Grants the Survival Instinct and Sly Devolution mods.

Best Vulpaphyla Subspecies: Panzer Vulpaphyla

The Panzer Subspecies is by far the best Vulpaphyla in Warframe because of its mod Viral Quills.  This mod allows the Panzer to launch 6 quills at enemies within 20 meters dealing Viral damage and creating Spores on the affected creature.

Anyone familiar with Saryn and her kit knows how powerful Spores can be, and the Panzer can act as a mini Saryn in a lot of cases. This is incredibly powerful and can be an easy way to spread Viral Procs.

The Mutagens and Antigens don’t really matter for your Panzer except for personal taste. You could make the argument that Poxi is the best Antigen for the Penjaga Polarity for the Animal Instinct/Primed Animal Instinct mod, but it’s not necessary.
