Apex Legends — like most live service games — utilizes a variety of unique currencies with different purposes. While some currencies are used to unlock cosmetic items, others can be used to purchase new Legends to play as. Legend Tokens (one of the available currencies in Apex Legends) can be used for both!
So what exactly are Legend Tokens and how can you unlock them? We’ll be addressing these questions and more in this guide on how to get Legend Tokens in Apex Legends. Let’s begin!
What Are Legend Tokens?
Legend Tokens are one of three currencies that exist in Apex Legends, alongside Crafting Metals and Apex Coins. They are red in color and look like a misshapen square with an L in the center.
They’ve been in the game since the beginning, and are one of the most common currencies there is (for reasons you’ll see below).
How Do I Get Legend Tokens?
Unlike Apex Coins and Crafting Metals, you cannot acquire any Legend Tokens by making purchases. The only way to acquire Tokens is by leveling up your account. You’ll receive 600 Tokens for each level you rank up, no matter how high you get.
There are several ways to level up quickly in Apex Legends, the most effective being completing daily and weekly challenges. Basically, the fastest way to get Legend Tokens is to play as much as possible and complete all the challenges along the way.
To view the current challenges, go to the right side of the main menu and select “See all challenges.” Challenges range from playing a certain Legend for a set number of games to getting placed in the Top 3 of a match.
What Are Legend Tokens Used For?
Since you automatically receive Legend Tokens just for leveling up, they’re a great way to unlock new Legends without pulling out your wallet. Each new Legend you purchase costs exactly 12,000 Tokens.
If you’re more interested in cosmetics, you can use Tokens to purchase recolors of legendary skins you already own (such as the “Metal Maw” skin shown here). The price for this ranges from 6,500 to 10,500, so spend them wisely.
You can use Legend Tokens to re-roll your current challenges and get new ones! You’ll always be able to do this for free once a day, but each daily re-roll gets more and more expensive. It’ll cost you 200, 500, and 1000 for each re-roll after you use up your freebie.
