Say what you will about Apex Legends having overpriced legendary skins, but there’s no denying that some of the cosmetics are top-notch. Whether it’s weapon skins or character skins, there is no shortage of great-looking cosmetic options for you to make the game your own. If you’ve been playing the most recent Legend — Ballistic — chances are you’re looking for something to spice him up with. We’ve got you covered with this ranking of the best Ballistic legendary skins in Apex Legends.
Apex Legends: 7 Best Ballistic Legendary Skins, Ranked from Good to Best
With that introduction done and out of the way, let’s jump right into the ranking for the 7 best Ballistic skins in Apex Legends!
Wallflower (Rare)
First up, we have Wallflower. This is a rare skin you can purchase at any time from Ballistic’s Cosmetics menu. Rare skins will set you back exactly 60 crafting materials. This is the cheapest skin on this list, so if you are looking for a new skin but want to keep to a budget, pick this one up.
The model has no changes from Ballistic’s default model, so nothing worth commenting on there. The skin gives him a floral pattern that stretches across his arms and legs. Flowers may not fit his personality all too well, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look good on him. The base color for his outfit is red, with the flowers being white with green stalks. This color combination works really well, especially the red, which goes perfectly with his sunglasses.
Heat Sync (Epic)
Heat Sync is an epic skin you can craft at any time from the Cosmetics menu. An epic skin costs 400 crafting metals — one third the cost of a legendary skin. If you want something that will really make you stand out without breaking the bank, then epic skins are the ones for you.
As with the last skin, the model is exactly the same and features no changes at all. Heat Sync is a gold and black skin. Gold and black is a gorgeous color combination. This particular shade of it is somewhat bronze/orange, and it looks great. The best part about this skin is the fact that it is animated. It features a pattern that appears and disappears across his coat. Epic skins are the only skins in the game that feature an animation, and this particular one is the best for Ballistic.
General Destruction (Legendary)
General Destruction is a legendary skin that can only be acquired by purchasing the Ballistic Launch Bundle for 3,000 Apex Coins. This launch bundle was first shown off in-game on May 9th, 2023 to celebrate the launch of the new season. The bundle also included a special emote for Ballistic, as well as a legendary CAR skin, and of course, Ballistic himself.
The model of the skin is fairly similar to his default model, but with a few really cool changes. For starters, he is now wearing a new hat that gives him a more militaristic appearance. He is also wearing different sunglasses than his default ones. As for the rest of the model, he is now rocking a pair of cybernetic arms that make him look really badass. Overall, he just looks a bit tougher and more like a sci-fi military veteran.
As for the color palette, the most obvious color is the orangish-red that overtakes his arms, legs, and chest armor. Complimenting this is a mixture of dark and light grays that are most dominant in his jacket. This is a pretty unique color combination that I think fits the skin really well. His orange sunglasses are where I think this color shines the most. There are also some light gold highlights here and then on certain parts of his body, which I think is a very nice touch.
Neon Sunset (Legendary)
Neon Sunset is one of the default legendary skins that can be unlocked by any player at any time in Apex Legends. It was launched alongside Ballistic’s debut on May 9th earlier this year, and can be crafted with 1,200 crafting metals. It is a very easy-to-obtain skin.
The model is different from Ballistic’s default skin in a number of ways. This skin looks like more of an outfit you’d wear outside of combat — it’s less practical and more flashy than his default set. My favorite thing about this skin would definitely have to be the belt buckle that he is wearing at the front of his outfit.
The colors are what really make this outfit pop! It features a purple and red color combo, which is pretty unique. The red is usually combined with the yellow, which works together to create a zebra stripe pattern on his shirt and prosthetic leg. His glasses have been changed to a shade of bright neon pink, which really gives his skin the name “Neon Sunset.”
Vice Grip (Legendary)
Vice Grip is another legendary skin that is available to all players from Ballistic’s Cosmetics menu. You can purchase this skin for a total of 1,200 crafting materials.
The model is identical to the Neon Sunset skin that was mentioned earlier. It features a flashier, less practical outfit for Ballistic that features several welcome changes. Thanks to the different colors on this skin, many of the model changes are more noticeable. I would consider this skin to be the superior version of this model for that reason.
Ballistic’s jacket has been changed to a nice shade of light blue. His shirt is a vibrant reddish-purple now, and several parts of his model are highlighted by gold. This includes the “spikes” (for lack of a better term) on his shoulders as well as the gold belt buckle. The color combination as a whole is pretty eye-catching. If you want something that is more neutral and less noticeable, then this skin is definitely not for you.
Mr. Manners (Legendary)
Up next, we have the Mr. Manners legendary skin. It is another one of the four different legendary skins that can be purchased at any time. It also costs exactly 1,200 crafting materials. This is a pretty popular skin that I’ve seen fairly often in public lobbies. Judging by its appearance, I can’t really say that I blame other people for liking it so much.
The model of the skin honestly makes Ballistic look like Adam Jensen from the Deus Ex series. His beard is longer and fuller, covering more of his face than his old one. Ballistic’s sunglasses also look different, but his coat is more or less the same as his default skin. One thing that is noticeably different is his shirt, which looks more formal. He is even wearing a tie! It’s definitely a great suit for fighting in style.
The color scheme of his outfit is darker and much less vibrant than some of the other skins on this list. His long coat is now a dark shade of navy blue, which is complimented heavily by the white highlights also on his coat. His tie is a bright orange, which is a nice contrast to the rest of his suit that doesn’t take away from the overall look. Ballistic’s beard is also a dark gray now instead of the silvery white his default skin is known for.
Earl Grey (Legendary)
Finally, we have the Earl Grey skin! This is without a doubt my favorite Ballistic skin in the game. It may also be one of my favorite legendary skins, period. It’s also easy to obtain, as you can craft it at any time from the Cosmetics menu for 1,200 crafting metals.
The model for this skin is the same as Mr. Manners. Ballistic is wearing a formal outfit with what looks like a custom-made long coat. This is complemented by his formal shirt. He is also wearing some really cool-looking knee guards that give the skin just a touch of practicality without taking away any of the style. And who wouldn’t notice that fancy dress tie?
The color scheme is much better in my opinion than the previous skin’s color scheme. It’s still dark and not that flashy, but the colors are more unified here. It’s a simple black outfit with gold and white here and there. Black and gold is a very luxurious color combination that anyone can look good in, but Ballistic wears it best. There is also some practical use behind this reliance on black for the color, as it is less noticeable than the brighter, more vibrant colors his other skins have.
