Apex Legends has never had more content than it does right now. With so many different Legends to play (and more being added all the time), it’s quite a challenge to get bored with the game. But sometimes, when the flashiness of a new Legend wears off, you want to go back to one of the earlier characters the game had to offer. One such Legend is the mad scientist, Caustic!
Whether you’re a new player or a veteran, I think we can all agree that when playing any character, we want them to look their best. For today’s article, we’ll be going over the best Caustic skins in Apex Legends.
Best Caustic Skins, Ranked Worst to Best
Without any further delays, let’s get started!
7/7
Blackheart
First up, we have the Blackheart legendary skin! This cosmetic skin has been in the game since the very beginning, and it’s common to see it in public lobbies. Personally, I’m not a big fan of this skin, but I do see its appeal and why so many Caustic mains use it.
The skin itself is a rugged, winter outfit with a black and gray color scheme. The shoulders, gloves, and several other parts of the outfit feature what looks like animal fur. To top it off, there is a golden-colored mask hiding Caustic’s face, as well as a quiver and some arrows on the back. It makes Caustic look incredibly intimidating, and is definitely the kind of skin you’ll want to wear to World’s Edge!
You can obtain this skin at any time by going into Caustic’s cosmetic menu. It can be purchased for exactly 1200 crafting metals, which can only be obtained through Apex Packs.
6/7
Claustic
Next up, we have arguably one of the most unique skins on this list: the Claustic legendary skin! This interesting-looking outfit saw its debut at Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash Collection Event. I have never seen this skin in public matches despite nearly a thousand hours of playtime, so it must be fairly rare.
The skin is a Christmas-themed getup that turns our sociopathic mad scientist into jolly old Saint Nick! The coat is a bright shade of red, and it features white highlights all over the body. Caustic’s hair has been turned snow white, and he even has a pair of small round glasses! The skin may not fit Caustic’s personality, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say this wasn’t one of my favorite skins for him.
This legendary item can only be obtained around Christmas time, as that is when Respawn re-releases old holiday skins. It can be picked up in a bundle, which can cost anywhere from 1800 to 3600 Apex Coins, depending on if it’s discounted or not. This is based on previous holiday sales from 2020 and 2021.
5/7
Sixth Sense
Now for another old skin that has been in the game since day one. I am, of course, talking about the Sixth Sense Caustic skin! Due to how long it’s been in the game, this skin is also fairly common to see in public matches. It’s not just how easy you can obtain it that makes it popular, however.
This is a great-looking skin, but it doesn’t try to be as creative as some of the other ones on this list. I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to be, actually. It sports a gray and yellow color scheme, with a cloth draped across Caustic’s chest. He is even wearing a blindfold across his eyes! Does it make sense from a gameplay perspective? Not really, but it looks cool!
You can acquire this cosmetic by going into Caustic’s cosmetic menu and crafting it for 1200 crafting metals. This skin features some really cool recolors, so be sure to keep an eye on the Apex Store for them! Recolors will cost you 1800 Apex Coins or 10,500 Legend Tokens.
4/7
Killing Joke
Coming in at spot number four, we have the Killing Joke legendary skin! You may recognize this skin from the After Market Collection Event, which launched back in Season 6 during 2020. This is an especially rare skin, and I’ve only ever seen it once shortly after it was released and never again.
This is a heist-inspired skin that features a gray and red color scheme. The coat sports two solid gold bars attacked to the chest, as well as several other decorative accessories. The main attraction of this skin, however, is that creepy clown mask covering Caustic’s face! I see where they get the name Killing Joke, this looks like something straight out of a Batman movie.
It is unknown when this skin will return to the Apex Games. After its initial debut, it was only seen again once for the Raiders Collection Event, which occurred back in December of last year. Given how recent this re-release was, I think its unlikely we will see it again during the first half of 2022. But who knows?
3/7
Third Emperor
Taking home the bronze medal for the best Caustic skins in Apex Legends, let’s hear it for the Third Emperor skin! If you are a fan of all things dark and mysterious, I just might have found the skin for you. It’s also fairly rare to see out in public matches.
This is a beauty of a skin with a sort of dark occultist motif to it. The color palette is purple and dark blue, with silver and brown highlights. The face features lime green eyes and several scars around Caustic’s face. The whole outfit makes Caustic look like he’s cosplaying as a dark wizard at a convention!
Just like two of our previous picks, you can snag this skin at anytime by going into Caustic’s cosmetic menu in the game. It can be crafted at any time for only 1200 crafting metals. Being so easily available for Caustic players, you might want to go for one of our next two choices, which are much, much rarer.
2/7
Gasbuster
Now for second place on our ranking of the best Caustic skins in Apex Legends, let’s take a look at my personal favorite Caustic skin… Gasbuster! I’ve been rocking this skin ever since it was first released back in Season 5 during the Lost Treasures Collection Event.
If you couldn’t already tell from the title, this skin is a reference to the popular movie Ghostbusters. The similarities between this and the Ghostbusters’ outfits aren’t that strong, unfortunately. The getup reminds me of a science lab outfit, and the goldish-bronze chest piece makes Caustic look plenty intimidating! It even comes with a matching gas mask. I’d say this skin fits its Legend perfectly!
This legendary skin only saw a re-release back in 2021 as a part of the Genesis Collection Event. I would say it’s likely to return one day again, probably in a bundle in the store, and possibly as a re-color. Given how long it took it to come back after Season 5, I think we may have to wait a while for its comeback.
1/7
Deputy of Death
And now for our top pick for the best Caustic skins in Apex Legends — the Deputy of Death skin! And oh man, does it not disappoint! I wasn’t fortunate enough to get a hold of this skin when it was released during the Chaos Theory Collection Event of Season 8 — neither were most other players, given how rare it is to see it in public lobbies. It’s a must-have skin if you don’t already have a legendary skin for Caustic!
The skin itself sports a wild-west motif with a red, brown, and gold color scheme. As is fitting for someone like Caustic, you can find several decorative skulls scattered around the body. The two gas canisters strapped to his chest contained encrusted jewels! To top off the outfit, Caustic is wearing his own custom cowboy hat.
The only time we’ve seen this skin return to the spotlight was during the Aniversary Collection Event, which occurred just recently in February earlier this year. If you were unfortunate enough to miss this deadline, then I’m afraid you may have to wait a very long time before it returns to shelves in the game’s digital shop.
