Crypto may not be the most popular character in Apex Legends, but there’s no denying he’s one of the best. His scanning abilities give his team valuable info about enemy players, his drone gives him visual surveillance that other Legends don’t have, and his ultimate is incredibly deadly when used right. To all those dedicated Crypto mains out there, we see you, and we’re here to help you out! We’ve put together a list of the best Crypto skins in Apex Legends, covering every legendary skin so you can look your best during the Apex Games.
Let’s get started!
Best Crypto Skins, 20 Legendary Crypto Skins, Ranked From OK to Best Overall!
We’ve ranked all the legendary Crypto skins from worst to best, so let’s jump right in.
20/20
Hack Frost
The first legendary skin on our list is the cosmetic Hack Frost. I really wanted to like this skin, and I wish I could have put it higher up on the list. But Crypto’s face here is just way too uncanny for me. I really do like the jacket that he is wearing here, and I think the overall outfit itself looks fine. But seeing Crypto’s face on my screen every time I select this skin is too much to bear. Also, it loses points for that horrible pun.
Hack Frost is a Christmas/winter-themed skin available for Crypto that has been available since the first Apex Legends Christmas event back in 2019. It has made its return every year around December for re-sale to players. All you need to do to get this skin is add it to your Christmas wishlist and wait for the end of the year to buy it during the winter LTM!
19/20
The Masked Dancer
Next up one our list, we have The Masked Dancer! This is actually a pretty decent-looking skin, it’s just not as good as most of the others available for Crypto. It showcases him in a white coat with a red face mask and some yellow clothing. The color combination is the least appealing one available for this model, and I’m not really a fan of the bright red face mask that he is wearing.
This is one of several skins players can obtain at any time from the cosmetics menu for Crypto. Simply go to the skins section of his menu before starting any game and find his legendary skins. From here, you can craft this exact one for approximately 1,200 crafting metals. It’s a very convenient way to get a skin without having to wait for a new store rotation or a LTM.
18/20
Masked Storyteller
For our next spot on this list, we have the skin Masked Storyteller! I like the shade of pastel green that makes up Crypto’s coat, and the red shirt he is wearing is a nice contrast to that. Additionally, I really dig his yellow and black face mask, and I think the patterns on it are really cool.
This legendary skin has only ever been available twice in its lifecycle. The most recent time was in May 2022, and before that, it was available in late Summer 2021. I think it’s reasonable that it will show up again sometime around mid-2023, so until then, we’ll just have to wait for this skin to come back.
17/20
Nomad Overseer
For our next skin on the ranking, let’s take a look at Nomad Overseer! This is a very unique-looking skin that reminds me of something from a fantasy RPG. The skin has a white, gray, and blue color palette to it. It gives Crypto a rugged, almost Viking-like look to it that really stands out from the crowd. I don’t think it’s his best skin per se, but it is definitely a good-looking and well-made skin!
You could last obtain this skin in Summer 2022. It has appeared a total of two other times, once in January 2022 and again during its first appearance way back in 2021. Since the skin returns fairly often, you shouldn’t stress about having to wait a long time for it to come back. My guess is mid-2023, give or take a few months.
16/20
Midnight Cipher
For the next pick, we have the skin Midnight Cipher. This is a re-color of a Halloween skin that was first released back in October 2019. This is a dark blue re-color with an undead pirate aesthetic to it. Personally, I’m not a big fan of this one, but I do really like the color and texture of his jacket. It’s a pretty solid skin overall that does a really good job of distinguishing itself from its original model!
This legendary cosmetic first appeared during Halloween 2020 and has returned each Halloween since then. If you are interested in picking up this undead pirate themed-outfit, all you need to do is wait for this October and the skin should be available for purchase!
15/20
Seeker of Knowledge
Taking the next spot on our list, we have the Crypto skin Seeker of Knowledge! This is a white and green skin with a similar color combo to his base skin. This particular model, however, has a flashier look with some great details added to it, such as the cyborg-like eyeglass attached to his face! This is a good-looking skin, but it’s lower on the list because I think it looks too similar to his default look.
Players could get their hands on this skin way back during Season 5 during a limited-time event. The skin has returned several times since then. The most recent of which was during July 2022. The skin doesn’t seem to return to the game very often. Aside from a re-color, if you want the original skin, you might have to wait until 2024 if Respawn keeps up the same pattern!
14/20
Totemic Might
And now we have our next skin, Totemic Might! This is a colorful and warm skin with lots of earthy tones and some orange here and there to contrast with the blues. It dresses Crypto up in a fancy outfit with a face mask that is hard to describe in words. This is a skin I very rarely see, but it is always great to spot it in a public lobby. The skin is definitely not the best in the game, but I think it deserves some love.
You could only get this skin once in all of Apex Legends history (at least as of right now). The skin appeared in January 2021, and hasn’t made another appearance since. Hopefully this means a return is right around the corner, but that is very hard to predict.
13/20
Whitelisted
Taking the next spot on our ranking of the best legendary Crypto skins in Apex Legends, we have the skin Whitelisted! This is a cybernetic-looking skin that gives Crypto some augmentations along his head and other parts of his body. It has an overly white color scheme. I think this skin would have looked better with another color to make it stand out more, but what we have here looks good enough.
The skin first appeared in Season 4 two years ago, as a part of the System Override limited-time event. This cosmetic has only ever appeared one other time since then, back in 2021 as a part of the Evolution Collection event. If I had to guess, I’d say this skin might appear in late 2022, or mid-2023 at the latest.
12/20
Devil’s Advocate
Taking spot number twelve on our ranking, we have the skin Devil’s Advocate! Believe it or not, I’m actually not that big a fan of this skin, despite its popularity. I think it looks fine, but I don’t like Crypto’s white hair and the outfit has too much red, in my opinion. Still, it a good-looking skin and I do really like the added markings on the lower part of the jacket, as well as the lower part of Crypto’s legs.
Devil’s Advocate is available for purchase at any time through the cosmetic menu for Crypto. The skin can be bought for exactly 1,200 crafting metals, just like all the other legendary cosmetic skins available from the same menu. The skin is worth the price if you like the look but don’t mind having a not-so-rare skin.
11/20
Fuzzy Logic
For our next pick on this list of all legendary Crypto skins in Apex Legends ranked, we have Fuzzy Logic. This is a re-color of an existing model in the game that gives it a lime green coat of paint and changes Crypto’s hair color to blonde. This is a simple change but one that really makes this skin worth the buy! Normally I’m not a fan of lime green, but Crypto looks really good in an all-green jacket.
The skin was seen in the summer of 2022 earlier this year. Before that, you could buy it in September of 2021. And before that, its first-ever appearance was in the early Spring of 2020. Since it comes back fairly regularly, I don’t think you’ll have to wait longer than 2023 in order to purchase this skin for yourself.
10/20
Hype Beast
For the next pick on our ranking, let’s take a peek at the Hype Beast legendary skin! This is a fun and highly detailed skin with a yellow, white, purple, and red color palette. It is designed to make Crypto look like a DJ at a big outdoor party! While I think this skin looks better on some of the other Legends in the game, I can’t deny that it is a well-made skin that deserves some recognition.
This legendary cosmetic item first made its appearance during a limited-time event several years ago. The Grand Soiree first gave us this skin, and it’s since been available for purchase from Crypto’s cosmetics menu. You can buy it right now for exactly 1,200 crafting metals.
9/20
Rising Phoenix
For our next selection, let’s take a look at the skin Rising Pheonix. This is a warm-looking skin that gives Crypto a sunset gradient. The skin shares a model with several similar-looking skins in the game. I’m not usually a fan of his face mask, but I think it looks pretty cool with this particular color scheme — it’s somewhat intimidating! Overall, it’s one of the best color combos of this particular model.
Rising Pheonix can be purchased at any time for exactly 1,200 crafting metals. This setback is well worth the price! You can obtain this skin by going into the skins section of Crypto’s cosmetics menu. Just keep in mind that if you like rare skins, you might want to save your crafting metals for something from a limited-time event instead. Ease of access means it’s more common to see in public lobbies.
8/20
Deadly Byte
Up next on our ranking, we have the Halloween-inspired skin Deadly Byte! This is a red and black-themed skin that gives Crypto a vampire costume. I really like all the details on this one, such as his pink skin, his dirty outfit, his ruffled shirt, the white streak on his hair, etc. It all culminates in a really fantastic-looking costume that would look really nice in any player’s legendary skin collection.
This outfit was first made available during the Fight or Fright Halloween event, which occurred back in 2019. This is one of the earliest Halloween skins added to the game. Additionally, it has returned every Halloween since it first appeared as a re-occurring skin. So if you want to snag this skin, you are in luck. All you need to do is wait until this year’s Halloween event to purchase it!
7/20
Machine Language
For our next spot on this list, let’s take a look at the skin Machine Language. This is a simple yet stylish skin that more-or-less keeps Crypto’s original vibe. It’s a white jacket with an orange mask and some teal clothes underneath. The skin doesn’t take too many creative liberties compared to other cosmetics, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad skin! In fact, it’s one of my personal favorites in Apex Legends.
Players could first grab this skin during Season 12 as a part of a limited-time event taking place at the time. This skin can now be purchased/crafted at any time using crafting metals. The skin will set you back exactly 1,200 crafting metals if you wish to purchase it, but it’s well worth the price tag!
6/20
The Hired Gun
Taking our next spot on the ranking is the popular Crypto skin Hired Gun! While I do really like this skin, I think it’s a bit overrated, and I don’t like it as much as some of Crypto’s other skins. It’s a mostly black skin with some gold highlights here and there. It makes Crypto look like a cutthroat corporate executive who does assassination work as a side hustle. It’s a cool-looking skin that isn’t too flashy or over the top, like most skins in the game.
The Hired Gun is available for purchase at any time from the Apex Legends cosmetic menu for Crypto. Simply select him before a match and go into his skins section to find this tucked away with the other legendary skins. You can craft this at any time by spending exactly 1,200 crafting metals. It’s definitely worth the money if you want to kill people and look good doing it.
5/20
Awoken Fury
For our number 5 spot on the list, we have the legendary skin Awoken Fury! It’s a beautiful gold and red colored skin that shares the same model as Seeker of Knowledge. This color combo looks really good for this legendary skin, and any player would be lucky to have this cosmetic.
This skin first arrived to Apex Legends back in Season 8. It was one of many red and black colored skins that were released as a part of the anniversary event that occurred during that time. As for the last time we were able to buy this skin, that was in early 2022 during the Lunar New Year Sale. I think it’s safe to assume this skin appears once a year and will be available again sometime in the year 2023.
4/20
Winters Grasp
For the next pick on our list of every Crypto skin in Apex Legends ranked, we have Winter’s Grasp! This is a frosty-themed Crypto skin that gives him a cold costume with a really cool face mask to go along with it. I love the color scheme on this model, and while I wish the face mask looked different, it does look good enough. The texture of his jacket is another great selling point for me, and I think it looks cool.
This is a pretty rare skin that I’ve never once seen in a public lobby despite almost 1,000 hours of playtime. The skin first appeared (ironically enough) in Summer 2020 and has not yet returned. Hopefully, Respawn will release it again sometime soon, but we don’t know for sure and might have to wait another two years for it.
3/20
Roaring Guardian
For the next spot on our list, we have the skin Roaring Guardian! This is a very spooky-looking skin with a bronze and orange color palette to it. It is designed to make Crypto look like a forest demon, for lack of a better term. The skin has some incredible detail, and I really like the helmet piece for this! The fangs on it are so well done, and the orange glow coming out of the mouth is just amazing to look at.
The first and only time we’ve ever seen this skin up for sale is back in August 2022. Ever since then, it has not returned to stores (understandably, given how recent that was). It is difficult to estimate when this skin will return, so all we can do for now is wait and see.
2/20
Inconspicuous
And now for the next cosmetic, it’s the legendary skin Inconspicuous! This is a very detailed and unique-looking skin that you may not have expected to ever come to the game. It makes Crypto look like an office worker at an insurance company. But trust me, the skin looks more interesting than it sounds. You may recognize this skin if you know anything about Crypto’s lore and backstory, as he looked like this before coming to the Apex Games.
We first got our hands on this special skin during the Genesis Collection Event. It was one of the most popular skins during that event and one that a lot of people bought. The skin has not returned since its most recent re-sale in February 2022. This skin will most likely re-appear sometime in 2023, although the exact time is hard to guess due to this skin only ever being sold twice in its life cycle.
1/20
Hallowed Spirit
Taking home the gold medal on this list of all Crypto skins in Apex Legends ranked, we have Hallowed Spirit! This is many people’s favorite Crypto skin, and I can most certainly see why. It’s a brown and cyan-colored skin that gives Crypto a creepy, forest demon-like appearance. It’s a very intimidating skin that is also fairly rare. Without a doubt, it’s one of Crypto’s finest skins in the entire game!
You can obtain this skin at any time by purchasing the Champion Edition of Apex Legends from the Origin store, as well as digital stores for PlayStation and Xbox. This DLC contains many skins in addition to Hallowed Spirit, all bundled together for $40. Personally, I wouldn’t spend that much just for one skin, but if you’re new to the game and want some skins for all your Legends, then I say buy it!
