Apex Legends is one of the most popular shooters released in recent years, and for good reason. The gameplay is fast-paced and tactical, the legends and their abilities add a lot to the sandbox, and there is a huge variety of different weapons to choose from!
With so many different weapons, there is a vast number of playstyles and combinations a person can achieve. But which weapon combinations are the best? Which ones are the most fun to use, and which should you consider going for the next time you drop into the arena?
We’ll be covering all of that and more by listing the three best loadouts in Apex Legends!
Duel R-99s
The R-99 has been the go-to SMG for many players in Battle Royale since day one. It’s one of the most iconic weapons in Apex Legends, and is widely used thanks to its high DPS and satisfying gunplay.
But do you know what’s even better than an R-99? TWO R-99s!
This is one of my favorite loadouts when I’m in the mood to play aggressively. I love to combine this loadout with a fast-paced, mobility-based legend like Octane. It is incredibly chaotic and fun to sprint around the map at high speeds and knock down enemy after enemy with two fast-firing SMGs.
Why is it so good?
Players love the R-99 for its incredibly fast fire rate. While its damage per shot leaves something to be desired, its DPS is strong overall. If you’re able to land all of your shots, you can usually down an opponent with only one magazine. Once you get your hands on larger extended mags, then you’ll be able to shoot more carelessly, which is a lot more fun.
The hip-fire on this gun is good as well, making it ideal for close-quarters assaults. I love to sneak up behind an enemy and unload my clip into them, and then switch to my second R-99 and unload another clip into their friends. It’s an incredibly satisfying play when it works.
Overall, the R-99 is great for aggressive players who love to get up close and personal with their combatants. The ability to spray-and-pray leads to some intense and chaotic fights and it’s a great way to level up your Evo-shield as well.
Flatline & EVA-8
One of the best assault rifles in the game is the VK-47 Flatline. And one of the best shotguns in the game is the EVA-8 Auto. When you combine the two together, you become a damage-dealing powerhouse that excels in close and medium-range engagements.
This is my favorite loadout to use in Arenas, as nearly all firefights will be in the close to medium-range spectrum. Lifeline pairs well with this loadout, since she’s a support legend who plays best when she sticks close to her squad. I’ll use the Flatline’s semi-auto to provide support fire, and the EVA-8 AUTO for when enemies start to push my squad.
Another good legend to pair with this combo would be Fuse. He specializes in damage dealing and assaulting opponents from medium distances using grenades.
Why is it so good?
The Flatline has a high damage per shot and a great DPS. Its recoil pattern is fairly easy to control once you learn how it works. This makes it one of the best ARs to use in the game. The fact that its hip fire is so good and that it has a toggleable semi-auto mode makes it incredibly versatile! You can pick enemies off from a distance or get up close and personal: it’s your call.
The EVA-8 AUTO makes a great secondary because it’s fully automatic and sports consistent DPS at close range. This makes it excellent for finishing off-targets after pumping them full of lead with the Flatline.
Overall, this is one of the best combos for most firefights. It allows players to enjoy a consistent damage output that is reliable at close and medium ranges. This is thanks to the hard-hitting Flatline and the reliable EVA-8 as a backup weapon.
CAR S.M.G & Longbow DMR
Now we’re getting into our final combination for the best loadouts in Apex Legends. For this last pick, I went with my favorite combination of weapons when playing Battle Royale.
The CAR S.M.G is the newest weapon in the Apex Games, and it’s quickly made a name for itself as one of the best SMGs in the arena. Meanwhile, the Longbow DMR is a veteran weapon that has dominated the battlefield from long distances since the beginning.
But just how do these two opposing weapons fit so well together?
Why is it so good?
Let’s talk about the secondary weapon for this loadout first: the Longbow DMR. While not the “best” sniper rifle in the game per se, it is incredibly reliable and not very punishing if you miss your shots. Using a sniper rifle allows players to pick off enemies from safe distances to level up their Evo armor. Combine this weapon with a camping legend like Wattson or Rampart, and you’ll be able to safely level up your Evo shield in no time.
Now let’s talk about the primary weapon. The CAR S.M.G is an excellent gun that features high damage and the ability to switch between light and heavy ammo on the fly. The CAR sports great damage per shot and a fire rate comparable to the R-99. Once you master its rough recoil pattern, you can easily shred through opponents at close and medium distances.
Using this combination of weapons, I love to third party enemy squads and take potshots at them from a distance. After one of the squads is wiped out, I’ll dive right in and use my CAR to clean out any stragglers. This is arguably one of the “safest” loadouts on this list as it favors players who are more tactical and less aggressive in their approach to combat.

Eva 8? It might be cheaper/more worth in Arenas to run a mozam with a flatline. Plus, you can get shatter caps on it and clean up someone you already hurt.
