The young lady of the Kamisato Clan is no stranger to our ranks and guides. She’s an incredibly strong character who specializes in DPS and exploration roles. She may take some getting used to for newer players, but she’s definitely worth the learning curve. Today, we’re going over some sword recommendations to determine the overall best weapon for Kamisato Ayaka in Genshin Impact!
Foreword on the Best Weapons for Ayaka
When building a new character or even just working on one you built a while ago, the right weapon choice is incredibly important. It can also be a little complicated to figure out which weapon will fit best with your team.
From varying Base ATKs to secondary stats and individual weapon effects, there’s a lot of information you’ll need to keep in mind. That’s where we come in. We narrowed down all the different sword options and chose the best of the best weapon(s) for Ayaka in Genshin Impact.
Below, we’ll go over the different stats, effects, and drawbacks of each weapon so you can get a better idea of which will best fit into your Ayaka build. You’ll also get an idea of what items each weapon needs to be fully ascended!
Our list covers the best 5-star, 4-star, and even 3-star options available that will most suit Ayaka. Each weapon is assessed at its base refinement level, so remember that with enough work/primogems, their impressive effects can be improved even more.
Before we get into the list, though, it’s important to point out that unfortunately some of the weapons on our list are time-limited. If you missed out on the chance to grab them, don’t worry too much. Just keep an eye on the new weapon banners each update and you should be able to snag them eventually!
How to Choose a Weapon for Ayaka in Genshin Impact
Let’s go over some basics about swords in Genshin Impact before we get into the recommendations.
Stats
In general, the best weapons are going to be of a 3-, 4-, or 5-star rarity. That’s because these weapons have two stats and a main effect. The primary stat of sword weapons in Genshin Impact will always be ATK. This primary stat also adds to the wielder’s ATK to create their Base ATK.
While the primary stat is always consistent, the secondary stat can vary a bit. Secondary sword stats can be any one of the following:
- ATK%
- CRIT DMG%
- CRIT Rate%
- DEF%
- Elemental Mastery
- Energy Recharge
- HP%
- Physical DMG Bonus
Catering Ayaka’s Weapon to Her Best Role
The best weapons for Ayaka in Genshin Impact are going to be ones that fit with an on-field playstyle. Since her best role is as a DPS, a weapon that increases both her Normal Attack and supports her Elemental Skill/Elemental Burst is ideal.
Translating that into stats, you should be prioritizing means looking for a weapon with a high ATK stat and effects that increase Elemental DMG, or at least Energy generation. Stats like DEF, Elemental Mastery, HP, and Physical DMG are not very helpful for her, so we don’t recommend weapons related to those stats.
Weapon stats we do recommend looking for are CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK%. Energy Recharge is fine, but not the highest priority.
Takeaway
Trying to make everything perfect and fit into the meta can be frustrating. Our top recommendation is: don’t. Finding a weapon that works well with how you want to play the game is always going to be the most important thing.
If that weapon just so happens to fit the meta, that’s great. If not, it doesn’t really matter. We want this list to give you an idea of what to look for when it comes to weapons for Ayaka in Genshin Impact. Hopefully you’ll find one that fits well with your playstyle and also lets you take out a hilichurl with one slash!
5 Best Weapons for Ayaka in Genshin Impact, Ranked
Now that we all know the basics of what kinds of weapons suit Ayaka best, let’s get into the recommendations! Here are the top five weapons for Ayaka, from the best 3-star to the best 5-stars.
5/5
Harbinger of Dawn (3-Star Sword)
Kicking off our Genshin Impact list of the best weapons for Ayaka is her best 3-star weapon, the Harbinger of Dawn.
This sword has a pretty straightforward effect and also helps boost Ayaka’s already impressive CRIT stats. We especially recommend this sword for new players and teams with a good healer.
Stats and Effects
A fully leveled Harbinger of Dawn sword will reach a Base ATK of 401, which is not too shabby for a 3-star weapon. The secondary stat increases CRIT DMG by up to 46.9%, which is actually the highest CRIT DMG stat of any sword in the game. (At least as of Version 3.2, which is pretty impressive for a 3-star weapon.)
The main effect, Vigorous, is pretty simple to understand. When Ayaka’s HP is above 90%, her CRIT Rate will be increased by 14%. There aren’t any stackable effects or gainable tokens to keep track of. All you need to do to get the most out of this sword is to keep the HP of the character wielding it high.
Thanks to this effect, you get an easy CRIT Rate increase without needing to worry about artifact grinding.
That makes this sword perfect for characters who will be relying on CRIT DMG to take out enemies rather than their Normal Attack DMG, since the Base ATK isn’t all that strong on its own.
Drawbacks
While the CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate increase are incredibly nice, the Harbinger of Dawn still has a pretty glaring flaw. It’s only a 3-star weapon. The low Base ATK is not great for Ayaka if she spends a lot of time on-field. The longer she’s on the field, the more likely she is to use her Normal Attacks, which will be limited by the low Base ATK stat of a 3-star weapon.
This is less of an issue for players who have Ayaka in a Sub-DPS role and mostly bring her onto the field to use her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst.
Overall, having a weapon with low ATK is not great for Ayaka. Her Normal Attacks have a lot of damage potential, especially with the Cryo DMG infusion she gets after exiting her alternate sprint.
If you don’t have any of the other weapons on our list, this is still a pretty decent choice for Ayaka and is one of the few free-to-play friendly options out there too. While it isn’t forgeable, it is available via the Kaeya’s Gain quest or by talking with the NPC Nanako in Inazuma City.
Materials
To fully ascend the Harbinger of Dawn, you will need the following materials:
- 105k Mora
- 2 Boreal Wolf’s Milk Tooth (2-star weapon material)
- 6 Boreal Wolf’s Cracked Tooth (3-star weapon material)
- 6 Boreal Wolf’s Broken Fang (4-star weapon material)
- 3 Boreal Wolf’s Nostalgia (5-star weapon material)
- 10 Dead Ley Line Branch (2-star enemy drop)
- 12 Dead Ley Line Leaves (3-star enemy drop)
- 18 Ley Line Sprout (4-star enemy drop)
- 6 Slime Condensate (1-star enemy drop)
- 10 Slime Secretions (2-star enemy drop)
- 12 Slime Concentrate (3-star enemy drop)
4/5
Amenoma Kageuchi (4-Star Sword)
The next best weapon on our list of swords for Ayaka in Genshin Impact hails from Ayaka’s homeland of Inazuma. The Amenoma Kaguechi is another F2P (free-to-play) friendly option for Ayaka that is forgeable, unlike our 3-star recommendation.
This weapon is most suited for Sub-DPS roles, though it can still work very well for DPS roles as well.
Stats and Effects
With a maximum Base ATK of 454, the Amenoma Kaguechi isn’t that much of an improvement from the Harbinger of Dawn sword. Even as far as 4-star sword options go, 454 is mid. Luckily, the secondary ATK stat increase helps make up for it by increasing Ayaka’s ATK by a hefty 55.1%.
The secondary ATK% increase is one of the highest in the game which helps balance out the low Base ATK. It also means the Amenoma Kageuchi avoids the same shortcoming that the Harbinger of Dawn had, which neglected Ayaka’s Normal Attacks.
The main effect of this sword, Iwakura Succession, grants the wielder Succession Seeds after using an Elemental Skill up to once every five seconds. Each Succession Seed lasts for 30 seconds and up to three may exist at one time. After using an Elemental Burst, all Succession Seeds will be consumed, and each will generate 6 Energy.
This effect may not increase CRIT Rate, but it is a great way to obtain Energy, which is especially handy if Ayaka has a low Energy Recharge stat.
Between the high secondary ATK stat and the extra Energy after using her Elemental Burst, the Amenoma Kageuchi is a very well-rounded sword. It supports Ayaka’s Normal Attacks while also increasing the frequency of her Elemental Burst, which is perfect for a Sub-DPS or DPS role.
Drawbacks
The biggest drawback to the Amenoma Kageuchi is that the Energy generation can be somewhat inconsistent depending on how you use Ayaka in your team. For a DPS, it’s fairly easy to get the most Energy back after using an Elemental Burst. The less time she’s on the field, though, the harder it is to keep track of the current number of Succession Seeds.
Another drawback to this sword is that the materials needed to forge it can be tough to obtain. While most of them aren’t too bad, there is one item that can be incredibly difficult to get hold of, depending on your luck.
However, if you don’t want to rely on luck or spend money in Genshin Impact, this is the best F2P weapon for Ayaka.
Materials
To forge the Amenoma Kageuchi, you will need the following materials:
- 500 Mora
- 1 Northlander Sword Billet (4-star forging material)
- 50 Amethyst Lump (1-star item)
- 50 White Iron Chunk (1-star item)
Amethyst is a resource unique to Inazuma and is essentially this region’s version of Crystal. It is often found in the same types of areas as Crystal, near Iron and White Iron deposits in Inazuma. To avoid the headache of needing it all at once, we suggest spreading out your farming over multiple days.
In between farming sessions, you can then focus on getting Sword Billets, which are far less easy to come by. Players who have made it to Inazuma have probably already cleared out the single Sword Billet in Marjorie’s shop in Monstadt, With WInd Comes Glory.
Anyone who needs another Sword Billet will pretty much have to wait until one of the weekly bosses drop one as a reward. This luckily means over half a dozen chances each week, but that’s also a lot of resin to spend on just a chance.
In the end, it may be difficult to gather enough materials to forge the Amenoma Kageuchi, but it will be well worth it.
To fully ascend the Amenoma Kageuchi, you will need the following materials:
- 150k Mora
- 3 Coral Branch of a Distant Sea (2-star weapon material)
- 9 Jeweled Branch of a Distant Sea (3-star weapon material)
- 9 Jade Branch of a Distant Sea (4-star weapon material)
- 4 Golden Branch of a Distant Sea (5-star weapon material)
- 15 Chaos Gear (2-star enemy drop)
- 18 Chaos Axis (3-star enemy drop)
- 27 Chaos Oculus (4-star enemy drop)
- 10 Old Handguard (1-star enemy drop)
- 15 Kageuchi Handguard (2-star enemy drop)
- 18 Famed Handguard (3-star enemy drop)
3/5
The Black Sword (4-Star Sword)
At the midway point of our recommendations for the best weapon for Ayaka in Gensin Impact is the 4-star Black Sword! This is a great weapon for DPS Ayaka builds that otherwise have a low CRIT Rate. It is also very good for teams lacking a consistent healer, too.
Stats and Effects
The Black Sword’s Base ATK is one of the higher ones on this list, topping out at 510 when fully leveled. It’s not beating out any 5-star swords, but it’s still very respectable for a 4-star weapon. The secondary stat of this weapon increases CRIT Rate by a max of 27.6%.
The Black Sword’s main effect, Justice, increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 20%. It also regenerates HP by 60% of the wielder’s ATK stat when their Normal or Charged Attacks CRIT. HP gained this way can be generated up to once every five seconds.
At Refinement Level 5, Attack DMG is increased by 40% and HP regeneration is equal to 100% of the wielder’s ATK stat.
All in all, this is a pretty good effect since it not only increases Ayaka’s Normal Attack DMG, it also helps keep her on the field longer without needing to switch over to a healer or snack on food. Since CRIT Rate is a vital piece of any good Ayaka build, equipping her with the Black Sword will guarantee some fairly consistent healing.
Even without increasing Ayaka’s CRIT Rate with artifacts or other effects, the Black Sword’s secondary stat will be enough to get at least some healing if Ayaka is on the field enough.
Drawbacks
While the Black Sword is a 4-star weapon, it is unfortunately not available through Wishing. To get this sword, players will need to purchase a Gnostic Hymn during a Battle Pass period. Buying the Gnostic Hymn will unlock the secondary reward tier of the Battle Pass and allow players to choose one 4-star weapon from the Gnostic Hymn Series.
All that to say, this is somehow the least friendly free-to-play option on the list. Even 5-star weapons can be obtained through Wishing, which can (theoretically) be done without spending money. Battle Pass weapons, though, require a minimum purchase of $10 USD. You do get a bunch of other rewards along with the weapon, but it’s still annoying.
Aside from the monetary requirements for the Black Sword, another drawback is that its effect pretty much ignores Ayaka’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. Normal and Charged Attacks get a nice DMG boost, but there’s nothing to support her Cryo DMG. The CRIT Rate increase does help somewhat, but there are other sword options available that do more to support all of Ayaka’s Talents.
Materials
To fully ascend the Black Sword, you will need the following materials:
- 150k Mora
- 3 Boreal Wolf’s Milk Tooth (2-star weapon material)
- 9 Boreal Wolf’s Cracked Tooth (3-star weapon material)
- 9 Boreal Wolf’s Broken Fang (4-star weapon material)
- 4 Boreal Wolf’s Nostalgia (5-star weapon material)
- 15 Dead Ley Line Branch (2-star enemy drop)
- 18 Dead Ley Line Leaves (3-star enemy drop)
- 28 Ley Line Sprout (4-star enemy drop)
- 10 Slime Condensate (1-star enemy drop)
- 15 Slime Secretions (2-star enemy drop)
- 18 Slime Concentrate (3-star enemy drop)
2/5
Haran Geppaku Futsu (5-Star Sword)
The second place on our list of the best weapons for Ayaka in Genshin Impact is also the first 5-star weapon of our list. Don’t let its long description scare you off — if you want to have a strong Ayaka, you definitely can’t go wrong with the Haran Geppaku Futsu!
Stats and Effects
The Haran Geppaku Futsu starts off strong with a max ATK stat of 608, just shy of a 100 point increase from the Black Sword. Just like the Black Sword, the Haran Geppaku Futsu’s secondary stat is also CRIT Rate. The CRIT Rate gained by this sword, however, tops out at a respectable 33.1%. That means roughly one in three hits will result in a CRIT just from this sword’s stats alone!
The main effect of the sword, Honed Flow, increased Elemental DMG by 12%. This DMG Bonus applies to all elements, which makes it useful for most Sword wielding characters. On top of this initial 12% Elemental DMG Bonus, Ayaka can also gain up to two Wavespike stacks when her party members use Elemental Skills.
Using her own Elemental Skill will consume all accrued Wavespike stacks. Each Wavespike stack consumed this way will increase Ayaka’s Normal Attack DMG by 20% for 8 seconds. That’s a max increase of 40% DMG to her Normal Attacks, which is kind of an insane buff.
Drawbacks
Unlike our previous sword recommendations for Ayaka, the Haran Geppaku Futsu doesn’t really have any obvious drawbacks. The worst thing about it is that keeping track of Wavespike stacks can be tough, but since the max stack number is only two, there isn’t a whole lot to keep track of.
This is especially true since stacks can be gained every 0.3 seconds, so if you’re not sure how many she has, you can easily pop off a couple of Elemental Skills first.
Materials
To fully ascend the Haran Geppaku Futsu, you will need the following materials:
- 225k Mora
- 5 Narukami’s Wisdom (2-star weapon material)
- 14 Narukami’s Joy (3-star weapon material)
- 14 Narukami’s Affection (4-star weapon material)
- 6 Narukami’s Valor (5-star weapon material)
- 23 Gloomy Statuette (2-star enemy drop)
- 27 Dark Statuette (3-star enemy drop)
- 41 Deathly Statuette (4-star enemy drop)
- 15 Old Handguard (1-star enemy drop)
- 23 Kageuchi Handguard (2-star enemy drop)
- 27 Famed Handguard (3-star enemy drop)
1/5
Mistsplitter Reforged (5-Star Sword)
At last, we’ve arrived at unquestionably the best weapon for Ayaka in Genshin Impact! Pull out those primogems, because she deserves it!
Stats and Effects
It’s only fitting that the best weapon for Ayaka also has some of the best stats in Genshin Impact, period. Starting with the Base ATK stat, the Mistsplitter Reforged can reach up to 674 ATK. Its secondary stat, meanwhile, hits a very nice 44.1% CRIT DMG. While that doesn’t increase Ayaka’s CRIT Rate, we’re not going to say no to such a large increase in DMG.
This sword’s main effect, Mistsplitter’s Edge, increases Elemental DMG by 12%, like our other 5-star weapon recommendation. Unlike the Haran Geppaku Futsu, though, the Mistsplitter Reforged gains Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks, rather than Wavespike stacks.
These Emblem stacks work a bit differently than most other weapon stacks. Rather than providing a buff after being consumed, Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks provide a rolling buff depending on the number of stacks accrued.
One Emblem stack increases Ayaka’s Cryo DMG by 8%, two stacks increase her Cryo DMG by 16%, and three stacks increase her Cryo DMG by 28%.
Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks can be gained through three different ways. First by dealing Elemental DMG with a Normal Attack (which is incredibly easy for Ayaka), second by using an Elemental Burst, and third by having less than 100% Energy.
The stacks have differing durations depending on how they were gained. Stacks gained by Normal Attacks last 5 seconds. Stacks gained by Elemental Bursts last 10 seconds. Lastly, stacks gained by low Energy will remain indefinitely until her Energy is full.
Between the three different ways to gain Emblem stacks, it’s incredibly easy for Ayaka to have three stacks pretty consistently. All you need to do is exit Ayaka’s alternate sprint and attack while she has her Cryo infusion. After that, use her Elemental Burst, and for the next five seconds she will have a Cryo DMG Bonus of 28%, which should also apply to her Elemental Burst.
Drawbacks
Similar to the Haran Geppaku Futsu sword, keeping track of the Mistsplitter Reforged’s effect stacks can be tricky. If a player isn’t constantly aware of the effect of the sword, it can be easy to forget how to trigger the stacks. Which makes it easy to forget how to make the best use of them.
Luckily, the Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks are fairly easy to get. Even if you aren’t aware of how to get them, you’re likely to have at least one stack at pretty much any given time.
Materials
To fully ascend the Mistsplitter Reforged, you will need the following materials:
- 225k Mora
- 5 Coral Branch of a Distant Sea (2-star weapon material)
- 14 Jeweled Branch of a Distant Sea (3-star weapon material)
- 14 Jade Branch of a Distant Sea (4-star weapon material)
- 6 Golden Branch of a Distant Sea (5-star weapon material)
- 23 Chaos Gear (2-star enemy drop)
- 27 Chaos Axis (3-star enemy drop)
- 41 Chaos Oculus (4-star enemy drop)
- 15 Old Handguard (1-star enemy drop)
- 23 Kageuchi Handguard (2-star enemy drop)
- 27 Famed Handguard (3-star enemy drop)
