The Acting Grand Sage of Sumeru may pretend to be a feeble scholar but everyone in the know is aware of just how powerful he really is. To get the most out of his strengths though, he needs the right party behind him. And that’s why today we’re talking about the best teams for Alhaitham in Genshin Impact!
How to Choose a Team for Alhaitham in Genshin Impact
In order to find the best teams for Alhaitham in Genshin Impact, you will want to prioritize Elemental Reactions.
While Alhaitham can deal some pretty decent personal damage, most of his attacks deal Dendro damage. Meaning there is way more damage potential in triggering Aggravate, Hyperbloom, Bloom, and Burgeon Reactions. This is all thanks to his ability to create Chisel-Light Mirrors and his 4th Ascension Passive Talent which further increases his DMG based on his Elemental Mastery.
Using his Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and Charged/ Plunging Attacks Alhaitham can generate up to three Chisel-Light Mirrors. Each Mirror will convert his attack damage into Dendro DMG. The more Mirrors he has, the higher his damage. You’ll want to work with his Mirrors to get the most out of his kit and his teams in general.
Catering Alhaitham’s Team to His Best Role & Talents
To maximize Alhaitham’s potential, he will almost always be a DPS. He just doesn’t have great Sub-DPS abilities and basically no Support abilities. So his teams will focus on increasing the efficacy of his strengths more often than not. Which means a lot of Elemental Reactions, upping Elemental Mastery when you can, and stuffing your team with off-field Element applicators.
Alhaitham can’t do much off-field so most of his time will be spent on-field with as many Chisel-Light Mirrors as possible. Before he takes the field, you’ll want to rotate through your other party members. It’s important to set up as many Elemental applicators as you can for Alhaitham to trigger Dendro related Elemental Reactions off of.
Key Takeaways
Alhaitham can be one of the more complicated characters to play in Genshin Impact. Not only do you have to find the right team but you also need to understand how his kit works. It can be intimidating to learn but you’ll be fine if you can remember these three things:
- Alhaitham’s damage comes from his Chisel-Light Mirrors.
- Elemental Reactions are key to getting the most damage from Alhaitham teams, so don’t neglect his Elemental Mastery stat.
- Prioritize pairing Alhaitham with Electro and Hydro characters first. Anemo, Cryo, and Geo characters just don’t resonate well.
3 Best Teams for Alhaitham in Genshin Impact
Now you’re ready to tackle the actual team building! Let’s jump right into the best teams for Alhaitham in Genshin Impact.
1. Aggravate (Alhaitham, Yae Miko, Nahida, Kuki Shinobu)
Generally speaking, Alhaitham’s best team comps are centered around Aggravate Reactions. He especially benefits from being teamed up with Nahida and Kuki Shinobu. Nahida is able to increase the team’s Elemental Mastery with her Elemental Burst, boosting Reaction DMG but also directly increasing Alhaitham’s personal damage.
Shinobu’s Elemental Skill has a pretty long duration which will constantly apply Electro while Alhaitham makes his attacks. Paired with a character like Yae Miko who can also apply Electro over longer periods of time, Alhaitham is able to very consistently trigger Elemental Reactions.
The team rotation can change up a bit but usually it’s best to start off with Miko. Set up her Elemental Skill then switch over to Nahida and use her Elemental Burst. If you’re confident in your character swap speed you can then go to Alhaitham. Set off his Burst and immediately switch over to Shinobu to use her Elemental Skill. As soon as her Skill animation is done, swap back to Alhaitham.
If you were quick enough, Alhaitham should still generate his Mirrors and you’ve maximized your team’s rotation efficacy. You can also just trigger Shinobu’s Elemental Skill first and then switch to Alhaitham. It’s not quite as efficient but you don’t run the risk of getting interrupted by enemy attacks and losing out on Alhaitham’s Mirror uptime.
Admittedly, it’s hard to replace all the characters in this team comp. Some alternative characters include Fischl though. She’s a pretty good off-field Electro applier who can take the place of either Yae Miko or Kuki Shinobu.
There really isn’t a comparative replacement for Nahida though. The best would probably be Yaoyao but she’s not going to offer the Elemental Mastery increase Nahida can.
2. Hyperbloom (Alhaitham, Yelan, Raiden Shogun, Yaoyao)
Hyperbloom teams and Aggravate teams are not all that different, Hyperbloom just adds some Hydro into the mix.
The key to this team comp is to have plenty of characters who can reliably apply their Elements from off-field. Alhaitham then drives the main Reactions and will take up most of the on-field time. Since Alhaitham wants a decent amount of Elemental Mastery this also means higher damage overall.
If you need alternative characters for this team because you’re missing one or more, don’t sweat it. There are actually plenty of decent 4-Star options out there. Firstly Yelan can be swapped out for Xingqiu, they have very similar Elemental Burst effects. Raiden Shogun can be changed for either Fischl or Kuki Shinobu. They both are able to apply Electro over a period of time while off-field.
If you do decide to tag in Shinobu, I suggest changing Yaoyao for whoever your most consistent Dendro applicator is. You can also choose another Hydro character for more consistent Hydro application too. Characters like the Dendro Traveler or you can even double up with Xingqiu if you do have Yelan already.
3. Bloom (Alhaitham, Nilou, Xingqiu, Yaoyao)
This is a Nilou Bloom team variation. It’s a high damage team that can be a little dangerous to play given that it will create a variation of Dendro Cores which will cause damage to your team. So make sure you have a healer on hand.
Those Cores are also why I suggest Xingqiu instead of Yelan. Xingqiu isn’t much of a healer but every little bit is still going to help. Yaoyao will also be able to heal some while applying Dendro consistently in a nearby AoE.
For the team rotation, start with Nilou’s Elemental Skill then quickly burn through Yaoyao and Xingqiu’s Elemental Bursts. Finally swap in Alhaitham and use his Elemental Burst, followed by his Elemental Skill and Charged Attack to maximize Mirror uptime.
Most of the work is done by Xingqiu’s Hydro application and Alhaitham’s raw power but Nilou is necessary to set off Bountiful Cores without the usual delay of normal Dendro Cores. And Yaoyao will help take the edge off the friendly fire from the Cores.
Now being a partly Nilou centered party, there aren’t any alternative characters for this team comp.
You can still make a Bloom team with Alhaitham but if you don’t have Nilou, it’s probably better to make a Hyperbloom team. Alhaitham generally isn’t going to be setting off Bloom reactions in quick succession meaning Dendro Cores may just sit on-field for a while. On a Hyperbloom team, the Electro driver can at least trigger them quickly while enemies are still nearby.
Xingqiu and Yaoyao are both 4-Star characters too so I can’t really suggest other characters that are going to be any easier to obtain.
