If you’re wondering whether or not to pull on the Electro Archon’s next character banner wonder no more. Played the right way, Raiden Shogun can absolutely be a game-changing character for you. The problem is figuring out how to play her the right way. It all comes down to team comps, which is why today I’m going over the best teams for Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact.
Raiden Shogun will perform well in just about any team you put her on. Which is great news for casual and new players who don’t have access to 75% of the playable characters out there. On the other hand though, it can be tricky finding the right team comp to make the best use out of her.
How to Choose a Team for Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact
I can tell you right now that Raiden Shogun is a character worth saving up your primogems for. Unlike most playable characters, Ei is a character who can work incredibly well in whatever role you want to put her in. She doesn’t have to just be a Sub-DPS, Support or a DPS.
Whatever her role is though, it is vital to understand how Raiden Shogun’s kit works. Knowing that will allow you to make the best teams for her and work with what you have now rather than trying to save up for the perfect team later.
When you pull up Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst description it can be pretty intimidating. Not many people want to sit there reading a multi-paragraph explanation when they’re in the middle of combat. Luckily I’m here to break it down.
The most important parts of Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu are the following. Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst deals a massive amount of initial Electro DMG and subsequent attacks will deal smaller amounts of Electro DMG. After the initial DMG, hits on enemies will generate Energy for Raiden Shogun’s entire party.
Raiden Shogun will also build Resolve stacks that are consumed when she uses her Elemental Burst and increase her Elemental Burst DMG. She gains Resolve stacks whenever her party members use their Elemental Bursts. Higher Energy cost Elemental Bursts generate more Resolve stacks and more Resolve stacks consumed mean a higher Elemental Burst DMG bonus for Raiden Shogun.
Catering Raiden Shogun’s Team to Her Best Role & Talents
Catering a team around Raiden Shogun is usually going to center on her being the DPS of the team. Her Elemental Burst allows her to deal a huge amount of Electro DMG while her Elemental Skill makes applying Electro a breeze. Not to mention her Elemental Burst also provides a good amount of Energy for party members.
If you want Raiden Shogun at her very best, you will probably want to put her in a DPS role. That being said, she still works very very well in other roles on your team. It’s really up to whether you want her as a DPS or want to slot in a different character instead.
Generally speaking, outside of being the DPS for your team Raiden Shogun does best in two types of teams. Teams that need a little bit of extra Energy to recharge their Elemental Bursts and teams with a DPS character that can stand being off-field every so often will welcome her most easily. She can also work well on teams where characters are using Normal Attacks frequently. These attacks will trigger her off-field Electro DMG and potentially set off Elemental Reactions if the on-field character is dealing Elemental damage.
Key Takeaways
If you remember nothing else about the best teams for Raiden Shogun inGenshin Impact, at least remember this:
- Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst is everything. Use it often!
- Especially for non-Raiden Shogun DPS teams, Elemental Reactions can be a huge source of damage.
- Take the time to get used to team rotations. Raiden Shogun’s damage and Energy generation yield will be higher after other team members have used their Elemental Bursts.
3 Best Teams for Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact
Now that I’ve gone over the general stuff, let’s dig into the specifics. Here are the best teams for Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact.
1. Overload (Raiden Shogun, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Bennett)
This particular team comp is known as the “Raiden Shogun National team” online and it’s definitely one of the best for the Electro Archon.
The origin of the name is a little unclear but seems to be related to a slang definition of the word “national”. In China, Hoyoverse’s country of origin, “national” can refer to something made up of common pieces that come together to create something of surprising quality. In this case, Raiden Shogun’s “national” team is made up of mostly 4-Star characters who are comparatively easy to get.
Xingqiu, Xiangling, and Bennett are all characters who can be obtained with relative ease. As 4-Star characters they are available all the time and Xiangling is even available as a reward for clearing the 3rd floor of the Spiral Abyss. Despite being 4-Star characters though, they are all amazing supports for Raiden Shogun.
Making the most out of this team is really just trying to minimize downtime between triggering each character’s Elemental Burst. Bennett’s Elemental Burst can provide some healing along with an Attack Buff. Xiangling’s and Xingqiu’s Elemental Bursts meanwhile, will both linger on field to deal damage/ apply Pyro and Hydro respectively to nearby enemies. Popping those three Bursts off in rapid succession will also allow Raiden Shogun’s own Elemental Burst to deal maximum amounts of damage through Bennett’s buff and Elemental Reactions.
Normally I would suggest some alternative characters if you’re missing one for this specific team comp but since they’re all 4-Stars there won’t be any other characters to suggest that would be as easily obtained.
2. Hyperbloom (Raiden Shogun, Nahida, Yelan, Sangonomiya Kokomi)
In this variation of a Hyperbloom team, Raiden Shogun works mainly with Nahida to apply Electro and Dendro to enemies. Yelan and Sangonomiya Kokomi can apply some off-field Hydro to set off Hyperbloom reactions.
It sounds simple enough but finding the right team flow is pretty crucial here. While Raiden Shogun is the one triggering most of the Reactions she kind of shares the DPS role with Nahida.
With Raiden Shogun spending less time on the field, she can still apply plenty of Electro from off-field. Nahida on the other hand isn’t able to apply Dendro off-field so she’ll need to be active in order to set up Hyperbloom Reactions. It helps that she can also boost the team’s Elemental Mastery to up Reaction damage too.
While this team is made up of all 5-Star characters, there are some decent alternative options out there. Xingqiu is an easy swap for Yelan though his Hydro application may not be as reliable. In a pinch Kokomi can also be swapped out for Barbara or Mona but neither will be nearly as effective.
Unfortunately there isn’t a great alternative to Nahida. The best option as of Version 4.3 would be the Dendro Traveler. Unfortunately Aether/ Lumine won’t be able to apply Dendro as easily as Nahida meaning fewer Dendro-related Elemental Reactions.
3. Electro-Charged (Raiden Shogun, Yelan, Furina, Jean)
If you’re missing Nahida but still want to build up a strong Raiden Shogun team comp, you can’t go wrong with an Electro-Charged team.
The idea with this Electro-Charged team comp is to apply as much Hydro as possible to the enemies you encounter. You can also use Furina and Jean’s Elemental Bursts to boost team damage. This is especially effective if you use Furina’s Elemental Skill, Yelan’s Elemental Burst, Furina’s Elemental Burst, Jean’s Elemental Burst, and finally swap over to Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst.
The team flow seems complicated but it will definitely get you the biggest amounts of singular damage. Furina’s Skill will drain team HP, Yelan’s Burst will add some Hydro DMG and application, Furina’s Burst will kick off some buffs, and Jean’s Burst will maximize said buffs. Then of course Raiden Shogun will come in to deal the big damage numbers.
If you need a substitute character or two, Xingqiu is again a good option for Yelan. For Jean, Sucrose can be a good choice since she’ll still be able to apply Elements to a large span of the field and has the added bonus of giving added crowd control. Furina is the trickiest character to replace in this particular team comp simply because her kit is fairly unique.
There aren’t many characters who grant the whole team a buff and few that apply one as good as Furina’s. Bennett can make a good alternative but you will have to be more mindful of where the field of his buffs are active.
