4 Best Team Compositions in Genshin Impact
We’ll go over what to expect from each team, what items you should go for, and viable substitute characters to use when you’re missing someone.
Let’s get started!
1/4
Eternity in Inazuma (Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, Kazuha, Bennett)
Our number one pick for the best team comp in Genshin Impact revolves around the ultimate battery, the Electro Archon! The Raiden Shogun is the centerpiece of this team, buffed by her teammates to the point of slaughtering everything within a single burst cycle and providing enough energy regen to the entire team to do it all again.
Before we get into it, we do need to note that gaining maximum efficiency with this team comp requires having Kujou Sara at C6 to bolster Raiden’s crit damage into the sky. If you don’t have Kujou at that constellation level, this team comp will still work, but it won’t hit as hard.
In order to gain the maximum damage from Raiden’s burst, you’ll first have to charge it with your other teammates’ bursts. Each time an ally uses their burst, it’ll fill up the purple circle orbiting them. A full glow signifies that the Raiden’s burst will hit at maximum strength.
Once you get used to how much of the circle fills up from each burst, you’ll be able to plan ahead and know exactly when you can execute the enemy.
As this comp is centered around Electro damage, you may run into some difficulty with Electro-immune enemies, but Bennett and Kazuha should allow you to deal with them with no real trouble.
Teammates:
- Kujou Sara: As expected of the most ardent supporter of the Raiden, Kujou Sara exists solely to bolster her attack as high as possible. You’ll mainly focus on using her skill and burst to provide attack bonuses and energy regen to the rest of the party, though her burst also hits quite hard if everything is set up correctly. It should be noted that you need to hit an enemy with a charged shot after using her skill to generate energy. If you have her at C6, you’ll be able to bolster Raiden’s Electro crit damage by a whopping 60%.
- Kazuha: The wandering swordsman serves as the ultimate Swirl trigger for this team, shredding elemental resistances so Raiden can hit even harder. More importantly, he also groups up all your enemies to give his allies convenient targets.
- Bennett: As is the case with any team involving Bennett, you’ll use him to keep the team alive and bolster everyone’s attack with his burst. However, in this team comp, you’ll be often be bursting on demand to charge up Raiden’s circle. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for destroying Electro enemies, or at least setting up Kazuha to do so.
Builds:
Character | Weapon | Artifact Set | Main Stats | Sub-stats Priority |
---|---|---|---|---|
Raiden Shogun | 1. Engulfing Lightning 2. Primordial Jade-Winged Spear 3. Vortex Vanquisher 4. The Catch [R5] | Emblem of Severed Fate (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge or ATK% Goblet: Electro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge 4. Flat ATK 5. Elemental Mastery |
Kujou Sara | 1. Skyward Harp 2. Elegy for the End 3. Polar Star 4. Thundering Pulse 5. Alley Hunter 6. Sacrificial Bow 7. Prototype Crescent | Emblem of Severed Fate (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge or ATK% Goblet: Electro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Flat ATK 5. Elemental Mastery |
Kazuha | 1. Freedom Sworn 2. Sacrificial Sword 3. Favonius Sword 4. Amenoma Kageuchi | Viridescent Venerer (4) | Sands: Elemental Mastery or Energy Recharge Goblet: Elemental Mastery Circlet: Elemental Mastery | 1. Elemental Mastery 2. Energy Recharge 3. ATK% 4. Crit Rate/DMG |
Bennett | 1. Mistsplitter Reforged 2. Aquila Favonia 3. Skyward Blade 4. Festering Desire 5. Prototype Rancour | Noblesse Oblige (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge Goblet: Pyro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Elemental Mastery |
Substitutions:
- Kujou Sara: You need another Electro user to trigger Electro Resonance. There are no great alternatives to buffing Raiden, unfortunately.
- Lisa: Provides Thrilling Tales buff and offers elemental resistance shred.
- Keqing: Has a highly spammable burst that synergizes quite well with this team, but somewhat redundant energy regen.
- Kazuha: You’re looking for another anemo user who can trigger swirl and apply the VV artifact set shred. Given this team comp revolves around bursts, you’re a bit limited.
- Venti: The best alternative, given his burst does a similar job.
- Sucrose: A viable substitution, but she’s usually not built with energy recharge in mind, so she’s less spammable.
- Bennett: Once again, there’s no replacing Bennie boy and his buffs.
Strategy:
We’re going to assume you start out with no charge for Raiden’s circle.
- Deploy Raiden and use her skill.
- Switch to Bennett and use his burst.
- Immediately switch to Kazuha and use his skill (plus the plunge attack).
- Deploy his burst upon landing.
- Swap to Kujou and use her burst.
- Immediately swap to Raiden and use her burst.
- Destroy everything while Raiden’s burst is active (four normal attacks into two charged attacks, then two normal attacks into a charged attack is ideal).
- Switch to Bennett and trigger Overload with his skill.
- Switch to Kazuha and use his skill (with plunge attack).
- Switch to Bennett and use his skill.
- Switch to Kujou and use her skill, followed by an instant charge shot.
- Switch to Bennett again and use his skill.
- Burst rotations should be available again around this point.
2/4
The National Team Comp (Xiangling, Xingqiu, Chongyun, Bennett)
One of the easiest and best F2P teams in Genshin Impact is comprised of four highly-accessible characters that most veteran players will have a copy of. This is an incredibly flexible team that provides wide elemental coverage, high damage combos that are easy to pull off, and everything needed to survive any onslaught.
The cornerstone of this team is Xiangling and the silly amounts of consistent AOE damage she can put out with her burst. With the right team, she can easily proc back-to-back elemental reactions and generate enough energy to burst again as soon as the first one is done. She doesn’t even have to be on the field half the time!
Between Xingqiu and Chongyun, you’ll be able to constantly enable Xiangling to trigger Melt and Vaporize for tons of damage. Alternatively, you can lock the enemy down with Freeze reactions to get yourself as much breathing room as possible.
Finally, Bennett provides the all encompassing support that’ll allow you tackle any challenge in the game and come out on top. Even the highest level of the Abyss will fall to this comp.
Teammates:
- Xingqiu: The single best character for applying the Wet condition to enemies. Between his skill and burst, you’ll always have his rain swords on standby to provide damage mitigation and healing to the team. If you need to Vaporize or Freeze the enemy, he’ll enable it.
- Chongyun: The field becomes ice cold upon using his skill. As long as you fight in it, all of your attacks will be faster and infused with Cyro, perfect for triggering Melt while Xiangling’s burst is active (or with Guoba). If you have Chongyun at C2, he even lowers the CD on all party members’ skill/burst to spam even more abilities.
- Bennett: Eternally one of the best supports, he’s here to trigger the Pyro Resonance and make Xiangling hit even harder with the damage boost from his burst. Whenever Xiangling’s burst is available, activate Bennett’s burst first. If there’s an actual concern of dying to damage, keep his burst on standby for healing.
Builds:
Character | Weapon | Artifact Set | Main Stats | Sub-stats Priority |
---|---|---|---|---|
Xiangling | 1. Engulfing Lightning 2. The Catch [R5] 3. Skyward Spine 4. Deathmatch | Crimson Witch of Flames (2) + Noblesse Oblige (2) | Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge Goblet: Pyro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Energy Recharge 2. Crit Rate/DMG 3. ATK% 4. Elementary Mastery 5. Flat ATK |
Xingqiu | 1. Sacrificial Sword 2. Favonius Sword | Emblem of Severed Fate (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge Goblet: Hydro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Elemental Mastery 5. Flat ATK |
Chongyun | 1. Wolf’s Gravestone 2. Serpent Spine 3. Luxurious Sea-Lord [R5] 4. Prototype Archaic | Blizzard Strayer (2) + Gladiator’s Finale (2) | Sands: ATK% Goblet: Cryo DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Elemental Mastery 4. Energy Recharge 5. Flat ATK |
Bennett | 1. Mistsplitter Reforged 2. Aquila Favonia 3. Skyward Blade 4. Festering Desire 5. Prototype Rancour | Noblesse Oblige (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge Goblet: Pyro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Elemental Mastery |
Substitutions:
- Xingqiu: As is the case with the previous team comp, replacing Xingqiu is problematic due to the utility he brings. Even more so when you realize the only other four-star Hydro user is Barbara (who isn’t ideal for setting up Xiangling’s burst coverage)
- Beidou: You’re completely reliant on maintaining Beidou’s burst to synergize with Xiangling, but you can set up a lot of Overload reactions this way. Just be prepared to chase down the enemy as they get launched from the explosion.
- Electro Traveler: Your purpose is to battery charge your teammates and ensure Xiangling’s burst is always on standby.
- Chongyun: While no one else can replicate a persistent field that reacts well Pyro, you do have some options.
- Aloy: Since she’s given away for free, we’re counting her as easy to obtain. Her skill lets you set up a handful of Cryo applications and are spaced out enough that you can trigger Melt multiple times with Xiangling’s burst.
- Kaeya: His burst synergizes extremely well with Xiangling’s burst, but you might be a bit energy starved if you’re not built properly.
- Bennett: As we stated before, there’s no replacing the Bennie boy and the buff he brings.
Strategy:
Unlike the other teams, this one is much more open-ended in what you can do.
- Start with Xingqiu and use his skill to activate rain blades.
- Switch to Bennett and use his burst to create a buff field.
- Switch to Xiangling and use her burst.
- Switch to Chongyun and use his skill to create a Cryo field and start proccing Freeze and Melt reactions while Xiangling’s burst is active.
- Switch to Xiangling and use her skill to deploy Guoba somewhere decent while auto attacking.
- At this point, you should have enough energy to cycle through everyone’s burst again.
3/4
Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discount (Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Zhongli, Albedo)
As the name suggests, this team will be centered around Hu Tao and sending your enemies to an early grave with back-to-back Pyro reactions. She’s widely considered one of the best DPS characters in the game, but comes with a high-risk, high-reward playstyle. If executed right, this is easily one of the best teams in Genshin Impact.
In order to maximize Hu Tao’s damage, you’ll want to keep her under 50% HP at all times to activate her second passive’s damage boost. It’s not too difficult, as activating her skill costs 30% of your current HP.
Naturally, this means you’re constantly under risk of getting insta-killed by a strong hit from the enemy. To prevent that, teammates who can provide shields and damage mitigation are extremely valuable.
You don’t necessarily need a dedicated healer, as using Hu Tao’s burst will heal her a fair bit for each enemy hit.
Additionally, you want someone on the team who can constantly apply Wet or Cryo status to the enemy for Hu Tao to trigger elemental reactions off of. Hu Tao’s skill applies Pyro to all of her attacks and her charge attack does not have an internal cooldown (ICD). This means she can apply Pyro as frequently as she can charge attack.
Teammates:
- Xingqiu: The main reason Hu Tao can put out so much damage. The rain swords he generates from his skill and burst constantly apply the Wet status to enemies, allowing Hu Tao to keep triggering Vaporize reactions. Additionally, they provide damage mitigation and small heals to help keep Hu Tao alive but still under 50% HP.
- Zhongli: It’s only fitting that an employee ensures his boss’ success, no? Zhongli’s main role on the team is to constantly apply his shield. Besides being the best damage absorption in the game, it also reduces nearby enemies’ elemental resistance by 20%. Plus, you can drop his burst on enemies whenever it’s up to stun and chunk enemies’ health bars.
- Albedo: One of the best off-field DPS characters. Pop his skill and burst if it’s up (damage + elemental mastery boost for the team), then swap back to Hu Tao. He’s mostly on the team for easy extra damage and to trigger Geo Resonance.
Builds:
Character | Weapon | Artifact Set | Main Stats | Sub-stats Priority |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hu Tao | 1. Staff of Homa 2. Dragon’s Bane 3. White Tassel | Crimson Witch of Flames (4) | Sands: HP% or Elemental Mastery Goblet: Pyro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. Elemental Mastery 3. HP% 4. ATK% 5. Energy Recharge |
Xingqiu | 1. Sacrificial Sword 2. Favonius Sword | Emblem of Severed Fate (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge Goblet: Hydro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Elemental Mastery 5. Flat ATK |
Zhongli | 1. Black Tassel 2. Favonius Lance | Tenacity of the Millelith (4) | Sands: HP% Goblet: HP% Circlet: HP% | 1. HP% 2. Flat HP 3. Energy Recharge |
Albedo | 1.Harbinger of Dawn | Archaic Petra (2) + Noblesse Oblige (2) | Sands: DEF% Goblet: Geo DMG or DEF% Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG or DEF% | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. DEF% 3. Energy Recharge 4. Flat DEF |
Substitutions:
- Xingqiu: No one else can set up Hu Tao like Xingqiu. However, if you don’t have him, then go for someone who can constantly apply an elemental effect while off-field.
- Fischl: You just have to activate her skill to constantly apply Electro to all nearby enemies. However, the Overload reaction is somewhat weak in comparison.
- Barbara: Her skill creates an aura similar to Xingqiu that applies Hydro to nearby enemies. However, its slower in comparison and might heal Hu Tao over 50%.
- Mona: Her skill creates a taunt that pulses periodically to apply the Wet status to all nearby enemies.
- Zhongli: Anyone who can create a shield is acceptable, but you’ll be giving up his resistance shred and Geo Resonance (probably).
- Noelle: She’s the closest replacement, can heal, and can maintain the Geo Resonance.
- Diona: Her shield application is a bit slower as you have to hit the enemy with her skill, but she can apply Cryo status.
- Thoma: Enables Pyro Resonance, but his shield isn’t as strong.
- Albedo: Any Geo character can feasibly replace them for Geo Resonance if you’re running Zhongli.
- Geo Traveler: Their burst grants crit rate to allies within its dominion, which is great for Hu Tao.
Strategy:
- Get Hu Tao’s HP to where using her skill will take her under 50% health.
- Switch to Zhongli and hold skill to apply shield.
- Switch to Albedo and use his skill to apply his passive damage field.
- Switch to Xingqiu and use his burst/skill to generate rain swords (constantly applying Wet status to enemies).
- Switch back to Hu Tao and use her skill to imbue Pyro onto all her attacks.
- While her skill is active, do two normal attacks into a charge attack. Jump to cancel the delay animation. If you have C1 Hu Tao, just spam charge attacks.
- Use Hu Tao’s burst before her skill expires to gain its damage boost and heal up.
- Go through everyone else’s burst if available to take advantage of Hu Tao’s first passive crit up.
- Reapply buffs and keep going till enemies are dead.

Fate Delivers the Vaporize Nuke (Mona, Bennett, Sucrose, Yanfei)
Last but certainly not least on our list of the best Genshin Impact teams is our Fate Delivers the Vaporize Nuke. This is one of the best teams in Genshin Impact for one-shotting your foes and reaching some of the highest damage numbers possible. This comp revolves around amplifying Mona’s burst bubble before popping it for instant victory.
While it does require Mona, she’s the only five-star requirement for the team. You can technically get away with just having Bennett otherwise, but each extra character you have adds another layer of damage to the nuke.
Before we dive into the team’s composition, it’s important to understand how Mona’s burst works, as it can be a bit confusing. Upon casting it, nearby enemies will be hit by the bubble and have the Wet status applied to them. This triggers any elemental reaction that would normally occur, but the damage is delayed.
Upon hitting afflicted enemies with another attack, the “bubble” will pop, dealing extra damage from the popping attack, triggering the initial elemental reaction damage, and amplifying all following damage for 8s.
Confused still? Don’t worry, you’ll understand once you try it out yourself a few times after following the strategy section below. Let’s look over our teammates first.
Teammates:
- Bennett: The best damage amplifier character in the game and the most important teammate to making this comp work. His burst creates a field that heals or provides a massive attack boost to any allies within it, depending on their HP (keep Mona above 70% HP or have Bennett at C1 to ignore this condition). We’re using him here to bolster Mona’s attack, set up the massive Vaporize reaction, and to pop the bubble with a second Vaporize.
- Sucrose: The next layer on our nuke. Sucrose is one of the best anemo characters to apply the Viridescent Venerer (VV) artifact set’s resistance shred, as she also gives a massive Elemental Mastery (EM) buff to Mona.
- Yanfei: The cherry on top for damage. Yanfei is really just here to trigger Pyro Resonance and grant Mona the buff from Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (catalyst weapon). Klee works equally well if you have her, but most players are more likely to have Yanfei due to being a four-star.
Builds:
Character | Weapon | Artifact Set | Main Stats | Sub-stats Priority |
---|---|---|---|---|
Mona | 1. The Widsith 2. Skyward Atlas 3. Solar Pearl 4. Mappa Mare | Emblem of Severed Fate (4) | Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge or Elemental Mastery Goblet: Hydro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. Energy Recharge 3. ATK% 4. Elemental Mastery |
Bennett | 1. Mistsplitter Reforged 2. Aquila Favonia 3. Skyward Blade 4. Festering Desire 5. Prototype Rancour | Noblesse Oblige (4) | Sands: Energy Recharge Goblet: Pyro DMG Circlet: Crit Rate/DMG | 1. Crit Rate/DMG 2. ATK% 3. Energy Recharge (prioritize if you can’t burst off cooldown) 4. Elemental Mastery |
Sucrose | 1. Sacrificial Fragments 2. Magic Guide 3. Mappa Mare | Viridescent Venerer (4) | Sands: Elemental Mastery Goblet: Elemental Mastery Circlet: Elemental Mastery | 1. Elemental Mastery 2. ATK% 3. Crit Rate/DMG 4. Energy Recharge |
Yanfei | 1. Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers | Irrelevant | Irrelevant | Irrelevant |
Substitutions:
- Bennett: No one can replace the Bennie boy.
- Sucrose: The important thing is applying the VV artifact set resistance shred. Most other Anemo users will work, but Sucrose gives extra elemental mastery which helps Mona.
- Venti: Accomplishes same thing as Sucrose but grants energy recharge instead of elemental mastery.
- Kazuha: Largely similar to Sucrose but harder to obtain.
- Yanfei: She’s mainly here for applying Thrilling Tales’ buff, so any catalyst user works.
- Klee: Grants Pyro Resonance and the catalyst buff just like Yanfei.
Strategy:
- Start with Yanfei (equipped with Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers).
- Switch to Mona and apply Hydro to the target with a basic attack.
- Switch to Sucrose and use her skill to proc Swirl reaction.
- Do not swap off Sucrose until the Swirl reaction procs to activate VV artifact set bonus.
- The rest of this must be done quickly to take advantage of Sucrose’s buff (8 seconds).
- Switch to Bennett and immediately burst.
- Immediately swap back to Mona and burst.
- Wait two seconds for the internal cooldown (ICD – so you can apply Pyro again to trigger Vaporize) as Mona (to maintain the buff from Bennett’s burst).
- Switch to Bennett and immediately hit the enemy with his skill to trigger Vaporize.
- The enemy should be dead from the damage. If not, build up enough energy on Mona and Bennett to do the combo again.
It may take you a few tries to get used to the combo rotation. Doing it quickly enough to gain the benefits of Sucrose’s buff but not so fast that you don’t let the ICD reset.
If you’re still struggling to pull it off, just add each element one at a time. Start with Bennett only, work your way into using Sucrose, then add Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers.
