Best Teams for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact

Hydro dragon, Hydro dragon, don't cry!... Because we're talking about the best teams for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact!

Fontaine may be the land of Justice but it hardly seems fair how cracked their Chief Justice is. In both canon and gameplay, Neuvillette is inarguably one of the strongest characters in the game. At least he is when you know how to use him and get the most out of his team synergy. Good thing I’m here to cover just that. Now let’s get into the best teams for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact!

How to Choose a Team for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact

The Iudex of Fontaine is an incredibly powerful character that you will definitely want to pull for if you haven’t already. His Charged Attacks pack a ton of power in them and blasts enemies away in no time flat. So it makes sense that his best role (and honestly the only viable one) is DPS.

When using his Charged Attack, Neuvillette will form a Seal of Arbitration. Once the Seal is complete he will unleash a massive attack, dealing AoE Hydro DMG in a straight line in front of him. The downsides to this powerful attack are that it can leave him vulnerable to enemy attacks (which will interrupt the Seal’s formation, forcing you to start over) and firing his Charged Attack will drain his HP if he has more than 50%.

There are ways to get around these downsides though. The time needed to form a Seal of Arbitration can be drastically reduced if Neuvillette absorbs Sourcewater Droplets. Absorbing Droplets will also recover Neuvillette’s HP, killing two birds with one stone.

Creating Sourcewater Droplets is easy enough so long as you hit enemies with his Elemental Skill or use his Elemental Burst. Oddly enough the Hydro Traveler can also create Sourcewater Droplets for Neuvillette to absorb and vice versa.

Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to the best teams for Neuvillette is that his 1st Ascension Passive Talent encourages Elemental Reactions. Triggering Hydro-related Reactions increases the damage dealt by his Charged Attacks. Luckily Hydro reacts with every Element so you won’t be limited there.

Catering Neuvillette’s Team to His Best Role & Talents

When building your Neuvillette you’ll want to max out his HP and CRIT stats. His attack power directly scales with HP so don’t worry about losing out on damage potential. Ideally you’ll want to get him to at least 45k HP with some decent CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate. This will not only make him one of your most powerful DPS’s, it’ll also make him a tank that can quite literally solo the entire Spiral Abyss.

Of course he’ll be even better with a great team. Specifically in a comp that can help protect him from interruption and buff his attacks.

With the way Neuvillette’s kit works, he is going to be hogging the field quite a bit. He can’t really do anything off-field so the characters in his party should generally be ones who don’t need a lot of on-field time themselves. Characters with Talents that can be quickly used and linger on-field are best. Especially those that provide prolonged Elemental application or team buffs.

Diving into Neuvillette’s abilities and figuring out who he’ll work with best can be complicated at first. Once you get the hang of it though I promise it gets a lot easier. To get you started just try to remember these three things:

  • Make sure you get used to Neuvillette’s Charged Attacks, they will be the biggest strength of any team he is on. You will also need to get used to timing attacks to minimize the time needed to form Seals of Arbitration.
  • Neuvillette wants Hydro-related Elemental Reactions, the more that are triggered by the party, the stronger his Charged Attacks get.
  • Neuvillette can self-heal enough that having a healer on your team usually isn’t that important.

Now you know how to build a good team for Neuvillette. But what are the best teams? Let’s jump into the top three teams for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact!

1. Vaporize – Neuvillette, Xiangling, Kaedehara Kazuha, Bennett

Vape teams have been strong contenders in the meta since Genshin Impact was first released. It is one of the strongest Elemental Reactions and pretty easy to trigger since Pyro often lingers on the field so long as there is something flammable.

Neuvillette in particular does well in Vaporize teams too. Using Xiangling, Kazuha, and Bennett it’s incredibly easy to keep the field (and your enemies!) ablaze. Each character’s Elemental Burst will stay on field even when they’re switched out and will continually apply Pyro across wide areas. All you have to do is swap in Neuvillette and douse everything in sight. Elemental Reactions will increase damage and Bennett’s Elemental Burst will even provide a nice little buff to up it even more.

The great thing about this team is that half of the characters are easily obtained 4-Stars. If you’re looking for alternative characters to Kazuha though, you can easily switch him out for Sucrose. Her Elemental Burst can still offer some crowd control, will still linger on-field, and will also Swirl Elements it comes into contact with.

2. Electro-Charged – Neuvillette, Raiden Shogun, Kaedehara Kazuha, Zhongli

Neuvillette works phenomenally on a classic Electro-Charged team. Raiden Shogun becomes an Electro-Charged Reaction driver that will basically trigger Reactions whenever anyone in the party lands an attack. Kazuha can bunch up enemies and Swirl a wide area of the field to further apply Elements, and Zhongli will protect the team from being interrupted or taking damage.

It’s a simple team but a very effective one. Neuvillette will seriously benefit from the crowd control, consistent Elemental Reactions, and also be protected while forming his Seals. Wins all around.

If you’re missing one of the 5-Star characters on this team don’t worry. There are actually quite a few good alternative characters for this team. Your Electro Reaction driver can be swapped out for Fischl if you don’t have Raiden Shogun while Kazuha can be switched for Sucrose

Zhongli is a little bit trickier to find a substitute for but not impossible. Any character who can shield consistently can potentially take up the mantle here. While other shields can’t truly compare to Zhongli’s, Diona can be a good choice. She’s easily obtained and is able to heal the party to make up for the weaker shielding. Doesn’t hurt that she’ll be able to occasionally freeze enemies either.

3. Bloom – Neuvillette, Furina, Kaedehara Kazuha, Baizhu

If you can get the rhythm right, a Neuvillette Bloom team will be absolutely deadly. Set the field by using Kazuha to gather enemies and Swirl them. Baizhu’s Elemental Skill will apply Dendro to the clump, then bust out Furina. Her Elemental Skill can apply Hydro while her Elemental Burst gives the team a huge DMG Bonus. If you’re quick enough Baizhu’s Skill should return after triggering Furina’s Burst and will go a long way toward maximizing her DMG Bonus.

Once that’s all done it’s time for Neuvillette to obliterate any lingering enemies.

Unfortunately this team doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room when it comes to alternative characters. Kazuha can of course be substituted for Sucrose but neither Furina or Baizhu have any good understudies.

In a pinch, Baizhu can be swapped out for Yaoyao but you’re going to lose a lot of efficacy.  She will still work but it’s quite a tradeoff since she won’t be as good at healing or applying Dendro on command.

Replacing Furina is even harder than Baizhu since not many characters provide the same DMG Bonus. One possibility is Mona with a 4-piece Noblesse Oblige artifact set. Her Elemental Burst can also provide a bit of a DMG buff which is bolstered by the Noblesse set effect.

If you do build this team, keep in mind that Baizhu is mostly there for Furina rather than Neuvillette. Without her kit requiring large HP fluctuations, you can choose another Dendro character over Baizhu more easily.
