How to Power Stance in Elden Ring

Elden Ring is an excellent open-world RPG that provides players with many different ways to build their character. There are tons of options for weapons, spells, sorceries, and much more! One such way that you can build your character is by taking advantage of something called a power stance.

But just what is a power stance? What are the benefits of using it over other options? And how do you even do it, to begin with? We’ll be answering these questions and more in this walkthrough for how to power stance in Elden Ring.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into the article!

What is Power Stance?

Power stance is a special way to use your weapons that give you access to a different move set than what you get from holding your weapons normally. Power stancing doesn’t completely change how you play the game, but it does give you a new way of engaging in combat and attacking enemies.

Additionally, power stancing allows you to swing both of your weapons at once, which is needed for dual-wielding builds. Doing this will increase the amount of damage you do with every attack, which allows you to one-shot most small enemies if you have the right weapons equipped. Paired with some stat-enhancing buffs, power stancing can help you destroy any boss you come across!

Whether or not you should power stance depends on your build. You cannot power stance if you don’t use melee weapons, or if you hold a shield in one hand. That’s the main downside of using a power stance — you’re completely unable to use shields. This isn’t a bad thing if you like playing aggressively and have the endurance needed to quickly roll out of trouble.

Now for the most important part of the guide: How to power stance in Elden Ring.

First, you need to be holding two weapons of the same class in both your hands. This can be two daggers, two great swords, two colossal swords, etc. To do this, go into the equipment menu and select your left and/or right-hand armament to add a weapon to the respective slots.

Once both of them have the same weapon, you’re good to go! Unlike two-handing your weapon, you do not need to press any kind of button in order to activate the power stance. Your character will automatically take advantage of the new move set.

You may notice that when you press the usual button to attack, your character will use his right armament like he normally does, with no changes. This is because there is only one new move that comes with performing a power stance in Elden Ring — the ability to swing both of your weapons at once. To do this, press right-click on the PC, or press L1 on the controller.

Unlike in Dark Souls II, you do not need to have 1.5x the stat requirements in order to use power stance. So go crazy!
