If you’ve been playing Elden Ring for any amount of time, chances are you’ve run into Margit, The Fell Omen. He’s one of the earlier bosses in the game, and defeating him is one way you can advance the story and continue your journey northward. If you have run into him, chances are you’ve learned why there are so many blood pools nearby.

Without any further delays, let’s get right into the walkthrough for how to beat Margit, The Fell Omen in Elden Ring!

Margit, The Fell Omen can be found in the region of Stormhill, blocking the passageway to Stormveil Castle. You need to defeat him in order to explore the rest of the castle.

To reach him, you must follow the pathway shown in the image above, past the Gatefront Ruins, and up to the earlier parts of the castle. There are plenty of enemies along the way, such as wild dogs, giants, and foot soldiers operating huge ballistae. Oftentimes, you can just ride on your horse past them, however.

Eventually, you will reach the Castleward Tunnel Site of Grace. Be sure to rest here, as you will need to replenish your health before the fight. Continue onwards to the end of the tunnel and you will find a mist blocking your path. Traverse through it and you’ll be in his arena.

Luckily for you, the game gives you the ability to summon a companion to aid you in the fight — Rogier The Sorcerer. Don’t forget to summon him before entering the arena! You can find his summon sign right next to the entrance before entering the mists. You don’t need to find him out in the world or anything — he’ll always be available to you from right outside the boss area.

During the fight, Margit will put all his focus on attacking your companion, allowing you to circle around from behind and hit him with everything you’ve got. Make sure to keep your shield up when walking up to attack him! He can sometimes use a swing attack to hit people behind him.

Once your companion is killed, you’ll want to use any Spirit Ashes you have on you. This will summon additional companions that Margit will attack instead of you, giving you more time to strike at him from behind. I would recommend using the Lone Wolves Ash, as this is an easy-to-get Spirit Ash that spawns in three wolves. It’s very easy to get early game, and we have a walkthrough that you can read here.

If you still can’t defeat him before all your companions die, and you are quickly killed after he turns on you, I recommend spending some time doing side content in order to level up your character. I went off and did some optional bosses and explored more of the map so I could level up my strength. This allowed me to do more damage with my melee weapons.
