For players looking to cast incantations in Elden Ring, a good sacred seal is crucial to their build. Tending to scale with Faith, incantations come in a variety of forms. Some deal Lighting damage, while others deal Fire or Holy damage.
Most sacred seals specialize in a particular type of Incantation, so it’s important to know which one is right for your desired build. Today, we’re breaking down the 5 best sacred seals in Elden Ring, where to find them, and how to make them work for your build.
5 Best Sacred Seals in Elden Ring, Ranked
Let’s jump right into our list of the 5 best sacred seals in Elden Ring, ranked from solid to splendid!
5/5
Godslayer’s Seal
With a focus on boosting Godslayer incantations, the Godslayer’s Seal offers good damage scaling and can be acquired early in the game.
Stats
The Godslayer’s Seal has a base incantation scaling of 129, which can be increased with each upgrade level up to +25 using Smithing Stones. It needs 4 Strength and 27 Faith in order to wield. As such, it scales best with Faith, having a base C grade that reaches an S by upgrade +14. It also has an E grade in Strength that reaches a D by upgrade +9.
Where to Find It
This sacred seal can be found fairly early on in Elden Ring inside Stormveil Castle, but it requires a Stonesword Key to access it. From the hall where the Grafted Scion enemy is located, below the Rampart Tower site of grace, head out into the main courtyard and go left.
Take the stairs inside the small passage here down past a group of rats to reach a fog wall. Use the Stonesword Key to dispel the fog and head into the following room, which contains a chest with the Godslayer’s Seal inside.
How to Use the Godslayer’s Seal
Since it boosts the power of Godslayer incantations, a build using the Godslayer’s Seal should be built around such spells. These incantations include Black Flame, Black Flame Ritual, and Scouring Black Flame.
While usually seen being used by Godskin Apostle enemies, the player can use them on their own builds. They work wonders on Strength/Faith hybrid builds, especially. Enemies that are weak to Fire take extra damage from these incantations. A good strategy is to wield the sacred seal in your offhand to cast a sea of flames that can be followed up with by a melee attack.
The Faithful’s Canvas or Flock’s Canvas Talismans can be great to pair with this build, as they further boost the power of incantations. The Two Fingers Heirloom is also a solid choice, as it raises your Faith by +5. These incantations tend to use quite a bit of FP, but you can use the Primal Glintstone Blade to mitigate the amount of FP consumed.
4/5
Dragon Communion Seal
This sacred seal is perfect for players in Elden Ring who want to add Arcane to their build while also taking advantage of powerful Dragon Communion incantations.
Stats
Although it only has a base incantation scaling stat of 60, the Dragon Communion Seal has other tricks up its sleeve that make it worth using. It requires the player to have invested in both Faith and Arcane, needing 10 points in each to wield. It has a base D grade in Faith that reaches a B by upgrade +10, and a base C grade in Arcane that reaches an S by upgrade +7.
Where to Find It
The Dragon Communion Seal can be found very close to the start of the game. However, it requires two Stonesword Keys in order to reach it. Use those keys on the two Imp Statues near the Stranded Graveyard site of grace.
This will unlock passage to the Fringefolk Hero’s Grave. Follow the path past the chariot upwards to reach a room with a Banished Knight, who will drop the Dragon Communion Seal upon defeat.
How to Use the Dragon Communion Seal
Although it lacks the incantation scaling that other sacred seals have, the Dragon Communion Seal makes up for it by increasing the build-up rate for status effects. As a whole, Dragon Communion incantations have a focus on inflicting status effects like Poison and Scarlet Rot.
Using the Dragon Communion Seal not only increases the damage of Dragon Communion incantations by 15%, but it also drastically increases the speed at which status effects are inflicted on foes. This makes it perfect for an Arcane build with a focus on a particular status effect.
Depending on which status effect you focus this build on, there are a variety of helpful talismans to compliment it. The Kindred of Rot’s Exultation talisman is excellent when inflicting Poison or Rot on enemies. Its ability boosts attack power by 20% for 20 seconds when Poison or Rot occurs in the player’s vicinity. Other talismans like the Fire Scorpion or Lightning Scorpion Charms can provide helpful buffs if you’re using incantations with those damage types.
3/5
Clawmark Seal
This is a great sacred seal for those looking to cast incantations on a Strength build in Elden Ring, without needing to invest in a high Faith stat to be viable.
Stats
The Clawmark Seal also has a base incantation scaling of 60. However, it is unique in that it scales evenly with both Faith and Strength, with a base D grade in both that reaches a B by upgrade +25. It also has low requirements to wield, needing only 4 Strength and 10 Faith. This makes it viable on a variety of builds.
Where to Find It
This sacred seal is given by Gurranq Beast Clergyman in the Beastial Sanctum after giving him a deathroot. To access the Beastial Sanctum, players can either take the waygate located just north of the Third Church of Markia in Limgrave, or head to the northernmost tip of Dragonbarrow just north of Caelid. This way is far more dangerous, so players looking to grab this sacred seal early should follow the waygate from Limgrave.
How to Use the Clawmark Seal
The appeal of using the Clawmark Seal comes not only from its boost to Beastial Incantations, but from its Strength scaling as well. It works best on a Strength build that incorporates some Faith for optimized damage scaling.
It provides a 10% damage bonus to all Bestial incantations. Two-handing this seal will further boost its damage output by 50%, thanks to the bonus two-handing a weapon provides to Strength scaling. Otherwise, it’s not the most efficient sacred seal for casting other incantations, but it can get the job done without needing much Faith investment.
Many of the same talismans discussed previously work well with the Clawmark Seal as well. The Faithful’s Canvas and Flock’s Canvas talismans can be especially good here. Additionally, talismans like the Starscourge Heirloom can be useful on this build with its greater emphasis on Strength than that of other sacred seals.
2/5
Golden Order Seal
This sacred seal is perfect for Intelligence/Faith hybrid builds in Elden Ring and boosts the power of Golden Order Incantations used by the player.
Stats
The Golden Order Seal has a base incantation damage of 116. It requires 17 Intelligence and 17 Faith to wield and scales evenly across both attributes. Scaling starts with a D grade in both attributes that reaches an A by upgrade +9. It has a max upgrade rank of +10 and needs Somber Smithing Stones in order to upgrade.
Where to Find It
This seal is fairly easy to acquire, but can’t be done so until later in the game. It’s located near the Minor Erdtree Church site of grace in Leyndell Royal Capital. On the backside of the church, players will find a corpse containing the Golden Order Seal.
How to Use the Golden Order Seal
If you’re planning on using a spellcasting build, this is the ideal sacred seal thanks to its balanced Intelligence and Faith scaling. It also has the highest damage potential for incantations at higher levels, making it best suited for end or post-game content. However, it is still outclassed by the Erdtree Seal for most of the game.
The Golden Order Seal does provide an added 10% damage bonus to Golden Order Incantations like Discus of Light, Radagon’s Rings of Light, Triple Rings of Light, and Litany of Proper Death. These are very powerful Holy incantations that grow even stronger when used with the Golden Order seal.
Recommended talismans to pair with this sacred seal include both the Stargazer Heirloom and the Two Fingers Heirloom, as both give +5 to Intelligence and Faith, respectively. Aside from other talismans mentioned previously, the Radagon Icon and Old Lord’s Talismans may be useful for shortening spellcasting time and increasing the duration of incantations like Litany of Proper Death.
1/5
Erdtree Seal
The best all-around sacred seal for pure Faith users in Elden Ring is the Erdtree Seal. While it doesn’t provide buffs to any specific incantations, it does offer the best scaling of any sacred seal in the game.
Stats
Erdtree Seal only has a base incantation scaling stat of 60, but can deal quite a lot of damage as it levels up. It requires a hefty 40 Faith in order to wield, making a Faith-centered build a necessity for using it. Damage scales very efficiently with Faith, starting with a base C grade and quickly reaching an S by upgrade +5. It has a max upgrade level of +10 and needs Somber Smithing Stones to upgrade.
Where to Find It
To find this sacred seal, players will need to venture through Prison Town Church at Volcano Manor. From the Prison Town Church site of grace, players will need to jump down to the town below. Avoid the Omen Killer enemy here and look for an open prison cell. Inside this cell will be a corpse with the Erdtree Seal.
How to Use the Erdtree Seal
While lacking any specific incantation bonuses may seem like a detriment to the Erdtree Seal, it actually makes it one of the most versatile sacred seals in the game. Players can take advantage of any incantations they wish using this sacred seal without worrying about optimizing damage output.
It surpasses the Finger Seal in scaling at 67 Faith. This makes it a bit of an investment with a worthwhile payout. With how fast it reaches S rank in incantation scaling, players can expect consistently high levels of damage early on after obtaining it. Even better, it has no weight penalty, meaning players can use it without worrying about adding to their encumberment.
As with almost all sacred seals, the talismans that are going to support the Erdtree Seal the best are the Faithful’s Canvas and Flock’s Canvas talismans. The Two Fingers Heirloom is vital here because this seal only scales with Faith. Beyond those, players should choose from previously mentioned talismans, depending on which set of incantations they plan to use.
