For most gamers, unless you’re playing The Sims or Animal Crossing, you probably don’t care about getting an end table for your house. Hell, you probably can’t even own a house (just like in real life). But New World lets you not only own your own house (three of them actually), but also lets you furnish it. This is where the furnishing skill comes in, and today we’ll be going over the leveling process for it in our New World guide.
Furnishing is one of the seven crafting skills in New World, and it is used to make all of the furnishings for your home(s). Whether you want new shelves or nice rugs, you need the Furnishing skill to make it all. In this New World guide, we’ll go over the best ways to go about leveling your Furnishing skill, as well as why it’s important. Follow this guide and you’ll be a master of virtual home decorating before you know it, all while enjoying the perks that come with that prestigious honor.
Let’s get to it.
Why Level Furnishing in New World?
You are an explorer traversing the new world of Aeternum. There’s corruption to purify, factions to join, and Legendary weapons to craft. You might be wondering why you would care about furnishing your home, and by extension, the Furnishing skill. For some, owning a virtual home with the nicest accoutrements is its own reward, worthy of pursuit. Great for them, but for the rest of us New World explorers, there are practical reasons to want to upgrade your Furnishing skills.
There are two types of furnishing items you can craft in New World that will give you an in-game benefit beyond aesthetics. The first of these types of items you can craft are storage items. These are chests you can put in your homes that, unsurprisingly, increase your storage space. Anyone who plays New World knows that you will end up with a lot (and I mean a lot) of resources — stone, fibers, wood, solvent, etc. Even with your own personal inventory and the storage sheds in settlements, you can be tight on storage space, and every little bit extra helps. Plus, storage items in your homes definitely offer more than a little bit extra inventory space.
Trophies are the second item with in-game benefits you can get from Furnishing. You can have five per house, and these will grant you various in-game buffs for the region said house is located in. These buffs can range anywhere from bonuses to your Mining skill to additional damage against animals or corrupted. Trophies can offer great buffs and should not be overlooked.
Now that you know why Furnishing is a useful skill in New World, let’s go over some methods for how you can efficiently and quickly leveling up Furnishing in this guide.
Some Furnishing Basics
Before we get into the first leveling method, we should go over the basics of furnishing. Furnishing is done at any workshop in a settlement. You need to make sure that the workshop you are using is of a high enough tier to craft the items you wish to make before you start.
It is also worth noting that certain furnishing items require schematics to craft. Most recipes for furnishing items will be unlocked once you hit the requisite crafting level, just like with the other six crafting skills. However, with Furnishing, you also have certain items that can only be crafted if you have the proper schematic. Schematics are items found in the overworld. They can be a bit hard to obtain, so we are going to go over two different furnishing methods. This first one uses furnishing items that do not need schematics, and the second one has some items that do need schematics.
