Best Assault Rifles (ARs) in Warzone

Assault Rifles (ARs) are the most well-rounded weapons in Warzone 2, allowing users to be ready for anything. They’re reliable, can be used at several ranges, and pack serious damage. ARs are definitely a weapon type to be on the lookout for, and they’re great for loadouts too. In total, there are currently ten assault rifles available, and they differ greatly in terms of quality. In this article, we’ll count down the top 5 ARs in Warzone 2!

What Defines a Good Assault Rifle in Warzone 2

While there are a bunch of fantastic assault rifles for specific situations, the ones on this list are geared toward those that are good in a variety of scenarios. You could easily use any of these as the main weapon in your loadout. We won’t be including any of the more situational picks, but do be aware that just because an AR isn’t on this list, that doesn’t mean it’s terrible.

We also won’t be giving detailed attachment picks in this article, as there are so many options that including all of them would take far too long. For attachments, we recommend experimenting with the options available and seeing what works best for you. We will, however, give some recommendations for what type of attachments might be best for certain weapons.

Honorable Mention: M13B

This honorable mention is included because, while the M13B is too focused on close range to be a viable main loadout pick for Warzone 2, it’s still really good. The M13B feels more like an SMG than even the Kastov 74U (which we’ll discuss later), with a really high fire rate and good recoil control.

For a close range pick, the M13B is fantastic. It just fails to hold up to other assault rifles at longer range, since its hybrid nature prevents it from really being the “best” at any one thing.

STB 556

The STB 556 is not as strong as the top four on this list, but it’s included because of its versatility. Since it’s a pretty well-rounded weapon, you could optimize it however you want. Close and mid range are both completely viable for the STB 556, and it can even do alright at longer ranges as well.

What makes this weapon stand out against the more mediocre assault rifles are its accuracy and recoil control. Even without attachments or tuning, both feel amazing. This weapon feels incredibly smooth mechanically, which makes it even easier to use.

4/5

Kastov 74-U

In Modern Warfare 2‘s 6v6, the Kastov 74-U is an easy contender for best assault rifle. However, in Warzone 2, it’s just among the top five ARs. This is because the 74-U doesn’t do too well at long-range fights. The 74-U does indeed struggle at longer ranges, but when used up close or at mid range, it’s excellent.

Treat this weapon almost like an SMG, but one that is more capable of high damage output. When treated that way, you can optimize for closer fights while still allowing a chance from further away. It’s all about speed and punching power with the 74U, which does give it an advantage in close quarters combat while still leaving it useful enough at range to be included.

3/5

M4

M4

The M4 is the easiest assault rifle to use in Warzone 2 because of its well-balanced stats and excellent feel. There’s really no going wrong with this one. The M4 might not be the absolute best in individual categories like damage and fire rate (although it is very close), but it’s so well-rounded that it’s hard not to love.

This is especially true when considering attachments. You’ll want some attachments that help with recoil and damage range, but you can focus on whatever you want, really. That’s the best thing about using the M4, as there isn’t anything it can’t do. It just isn’t as strong in individual categories as some others.

2/5

TAQ-56

The TAQ-56 is deceptively good. While it doesn’t beat the M4 in a single base stat, it shines due to its overall feel and potential when combined with attachments and tuning.

The TAQ-56 excels at mid range, so it’s a good idea to optimize it for that. A combination of damage range and recoil improving attachments would be great here. The TAQ-56 absolutely shreds through armor in the right hands, which is one of the aspects that has made it such a staple so far in the meta. It’s definitely a weapon you’re gonna be seeing a lot of, and for good reason.

1/5

Kastov 762

This is the best of all the assault rifles in Warzone 2. The 762 has the highest damage stat of any AR, which, when combined with a solid firing rate and ADS speed, is incredibly hard to beat.

It’s also really strong at longer ranges thanks to its high damage rate, which lets it pick up long range kills much easier than many other ARs. Attachments that give even more damage range or that help with recoil are optimal here.

The 762 is the most powerful AR in Warzone 2, but it isn’t by a huge margin. Several of the other weapons listed here could easily have a claim for the top spot, but the Kastov 762 beats them out by just a bit.
