ESO: Skill Styling Guide

Who said style points aren't important?

The Elder Scrolls Online introduced a new feature called Skill Styling with the Gold Road Chapter that allows you to change the appearance of certain skills. As new updates come out, expect new colors and skills to be added to this system. In this guide, I’ll cover everything you need to know to get started and how to unlock the various Skill Styles. Our guide also includes the 6 new Skill Styles added to ESO with Update 43.

Let’s get started!

Skill Styling 101

Skill Styling in The Elder Scrolls Online is a feature I was excited to try out as soon as it was introduced. I love the idea of being able to alter the appearance of skills to fit my character’s outfits. First, I will cover some of the Skill Styling basics and answer some key questions.

What are the requirements to access Skill Styling?

The Gold Road Chapter is required to access the Skill Styling system. The Gold Road Chapter also includes the new Scribing feature, needed to unlock a few of the Skill Styles available.

How can I view the available Skill Styles?

Check out all Skill Styles, including how to unlock them via the menu system in the Elder Scrolls Online. Select Collections, Appearance, and then Skill Styles.

How do I activate a Skill Style I have collected?

After unlocking a Skill Style, go to the Skill Line its from and use the Style Selector to change the appearance. For example, if I unlock Azure Blue for Regeneration and want to change it- I would go to the Restoration Staff Skill Line and search for the skill Regeneration.

Mosaic Skill Shreds

Next, I want to cover what Mosaic Skill Shreds are and how to use them. Mosaic Skill Shreds are a type of Fragment that when combined, unlock various Skill Styles. Combine these Mosaic Skill Shreds and unlock various Skill Styles like Meteor, Grand Healing, and Dawnbreaker. These drop from completing World Events called Mirrormoor Incursions in West Weald. The map above has the locations for the Mirrormoor Incursion Sites in West Weald. Mosaic Skill Shreds drop once the Incursion activity has been completed.

I recommend picking up the Mirrormoor Incursion Daily quest in the city Skingrad. Legionary Jaida gives out the World Event quest, she is located next to the Great Chapel of Julianos in Skingrad. You can get extra rewards and having the quest marks the Incursion sites on your map.

  • Please note: Mosaic Skill Shreds only drop once a day from Mirrormoor Incursions, the first time you complete the activity.

Unlocking Skill Styles

Overall, Skill Styling offers players with a new, fun way to customize their characters. You can unlock Skill Styles by completing quests, achievements, and collecting Mosaic Shreds, so you can passively unlock some of them as well. You can refer to this list of all the styles currently available including the 6 added with Update 43. In addition to the table, the skills Silver Bolts, Roar, and Annulment are unlocked by completing Skill Stylist Fragment chases.
