First introduced to the Elder Scrolls Online in December of 2016, the New Life Festival brings players together to celebrate the holidays! To earn rewards you can complete various holiday activities in different areas of Tamriel.
This guide will provide details on the available activities, rewards, and achievements for the New Life Festival in the Elder Scrolls Online. Let’s dive in!
Event Details
Dates: December 19th-January 7th
Earn 3 Event Tickets every day of the event and instantly receive a Double XP boost. In previous years, you would need to use the Breda’s Bottomless Mead Mug tool but now it is instant. You can still get the tool for completing the introduction quest.
How to Get Started
You only need the base game to be able to participate in the event. Head to Eastmarch or go to the Crown Store and pick up the free introduction quest from the Quest Starters tab. Speak to Breda under the New Life Festival tent in Eastmarch. The Impresario Tent also has a portal that can directly take you to the New Life tent.
Activities
During the New Life Festival, there are nine quests available to do for Breda. You can get New Life Festival gift boxes when you turn these quests in. Once a day during the event, you can also complete an Old Life Observance quest for Petronius Galenus.
New & Old Life Quests:
- Mudball Merriment– Head to Skywatch and pelt NPCs and alliance ambassadors with Mudballs!

- Old Life Observance – Locate the Old Life Shrine and perform the ceremony.
New Life Festival Writs:
Imperial Writs and Deep Winter Writs drop from the reward boxes during the event. To begin the writ, consume it and complete the activity. Once you have finished the writ, you can turn it into Selvari Abello at the New Life tent.
You will receive Writ Vouchers that you can spend at the Writ voucher vendor. From these Writs you can get a Refugee’s Gift that can contain Skal and Rhikindaleft style pages. You are able to sell or trade these writs and style pages with other players.
