Deep Rock Galactic is an action-packed adventure that sends you deep underground into the caves of a hostile alien planet to mine rare resources. You’re given access to a huge variety of weapons, but using this many weapons definitely takes a toll on your ammo reserves. So how do you get more ammo in Deep Rock Galactic?
We’ll be covering everything you need to know about ammo in our article today to ensure you’re stocked up on bullets and capable of fighting your way through the depths of Hoxxes IV. After all, ammo is worth its weight in gold down there.
How to Get More Ammo in Deep Rock Galactic
With that introduction finished, let’s jump right into this article for how to get more ammo in Deep Rock Galactic!
Ordering Resupply Pods
The primary method for players to get more ammo when out on the field is by ordering resupply drops. Resupply drops are caches of ammo and health that are dropped down from space onto the planet, where they will drill into its crust to reach your location. When a supply drop lands, you can harvest goods from it up to four times in total.
Each time you resupply from the pod, it will fill up about half of your health and ammo capacity. It’s generally a good idea to leave a supply pod in a central location where you can easily get back to it when you want more ammo. But how do you call in a drop pod to begin with? To purchase one, you’ll first need 80 Nitra. Nitra is a bright red mineral that can spawn naturally in the caves.
You’ll know you’ve found it when it makes a glass-like sound effect upon breaking. Mine up as much of the material as you can as you’re exploring the caves. Once you have at least 80 Nitra, bring up the resupply pod by pressing ‘5’ on the keyboard. Then just move it around until the highlight turns blue and call it in! It will arrive very shortly. Just make sure not to stand underneath it, as it could damage you and knock you down!
Just as a tip, if you press and hold ‘Control’ on the keyboard, you can bring up a device that will highlight all resupply pods through the walls for you. This makes finding where you left one very easy. For another tip, if you are doing a Salvage Operation mission, you have a chance of finding a rusted old resupply pod out in the caves. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these things while on these missions!
Upgrading Your Ammo Capacity
Getting ammo while on missions is great and all, but what do you do if you just never have enough? You can permanently increase the amount of ammo you can store by upgrading your ammo capacity. To do that, you will first need to head to the weapon upgrade terminal in the space rig. It can be found just next to the mission selection area. There, you can select a gun you’ve unlocked and can purchase a mod to increase your total ammo storage capacity for that weapon!
You can also upgrade the clip/magazine sizes for most of your weapons. This will also increase the total ammo that you can store, and it will up the amount of ammo you get back from resupply pods in missions. I wouldn’t recommend getting any of these mods unless you’re sure you really need them, as it means you lose out on another mod that could make your gun deal more damage.
