Since Mega Knight is so popular right now, it’s a great time to look into some of the best Mega Knight decks out there. In this article, I’ll talk about three custom-made Mega Knight decks that can help you gain trophies and win challenges. But first, let’s take a look at Mega Knight in general and some of the basics of building a Mega Knight deck!
How to Build a Mega Knight Deck
Mega Knight decks are really strong right now thanks to the power of Mega Knight in general. When Mega Knight enters the battlefield, he does AOE damage to ground troops near him. He has a ton of HP, but he doesn’t have a huge damage output. He’s easy to distract with cards like Knight or Ice Golem, so you have to have support that can help him clear those types of troops out. He’s largely immune to ground swarms, though, since his normal attacks do AOE. Then his evolution gives him the ability to knock back troops, so he can stall out charging troops like Hog Rider or Ram Rider. He’s dangerous at every stage of the game, and he requires an answer.
Mega Knight decks typically consist of support troops to help him out as much as possible. Firecracker, Wizards, and even Witch all do a good job with this. You’ll also usually need a building, and Tombstone is my favorite since it helps lower the deck’s elixir cost. Mega Knight is quite expensive, so you really can’t afford any other spells near his elixir range. You can have a 5-elixir troop, but I wouldn’t recommend more than that. Especially since you’ll want to cycle to his evolution as quickly as possible.
That being said, Mega Knight decks can take any form. Since he’s just a tanky troop, you don’t have to build the deck in an ultra-specific way. You can put Mega Knight in almost any kind of deck, but I think that tank support decks are by far the strongest with him. He’s the best tank in the game right now, in my opinion, so he’s 100% worth building around.
Mega Knight + Firecracker
This deck is pretty standard for what you’d expect with Mega Knight. Firecracker evolution is arguably the best in the game, and when she has a tank to support it’s a perfect combo. Her + Mega Knight alone is enough to take out a tower half the time. The Healer isn’t as common, but I like her a lot for keeping Mega Knight alive and fighting off low-damage troops when defending. She’s one of the strongest mid-elixir tanks in the game. Plus, she’s really strong with Minions, since they’re a good target to heal. Electro Wizard is really good if your opponent has Inferno Tower or Dragon, and it’s also just generally good air defense, too.
Wallbreakers are also a slightly “odd” pick here, but I think they go really well with the more reactive style of this deck. They’re a good way to chip away damage or blow up buildings before dropping Mega Knight. Then we have Tombstone as a cheap building and Log for countering Goblin Barrel.
This deck doesn’t do anything extremely unique, but it’s reliable. There are no major weak spots, so it’s rarely a bad choice. This is a solid deck for everything from ladder to challenges, and you can also switch out cards like Wallbreakers or Minions for other ones if you want to.
Mega Knight Tornado
This Mega Knight deck focuses on utilizing Tornado to get everything within its damage range. It also has Baby Dragon, Ice Wizard, and evolved Dart Goblin, which all also benefit from Tornado. While Baby Dragon and Ice Wizard are standard for Tornado decks, Dart Goblin is a little less common. I like Dart Goblin, though, because he’s very cheap, so you can quickly cycle to the evolution. Firecracker is obviously also a good choice, but I prefer Dart Goblin here because he’s also a good card to drop on the bridge and bait a Log. That helps keep your Skeleton Army safe, so it’s just a bit better here. If you want, you could swap it for Firecracker though. Especially if you don’t have the Goblin’s evolution.
This deck’s main weakness is big tanks, especially if your opponent can easily counter your Skeleton Army. Since this deck doesn’t have a building, you’ll have to be careful. But it’s high risk, high reward. Tornado can help counter many tanks, and Mega Knight can as well if it can distract them. Otherwise, you’ll have to rely on spamming other troops to beat them. But it’s definitely possible, and if your opponent isn’t playing something like Royal Giant it really isn’t that bad.
I also prefer Arrows over the Log or Fireball in this deck because of its AOE. Paired with Tornado, it becomes a dangerous spell. It can also do everything the Log can do, albeit for more elixir. This deck definitely has vulnerabilities, but I wanted to include at least one that wasn’t just a “safe” pick. Royal Giant decks probably beat this one if you can’t get Skeleton Army to stick, but it beats a ton of other ones so it balances out.
Mega Knight + Lumberjack
This Mega Knight deck is one of my favorites, and it’s honestly because I think the Lumberjack evolution is just fun to use. The evolved version is particularly good at defending since he keeps attacking after death, plus the rage effect is super strong with Mega Knight and Mother Witch. You might also be able to get Archer Queen into his rage pool before using her Champion ability, in which case she’s basically a gatling gun.
In terms of offense, this deck relies almost entirely on making a big push with Mega Knight and Lumberjack, then trying to support the push however possible. Mother Witch is great because she’s good at defending against swarms and turns them into her own push. The cursed hogs in Lumberjack’s rage pool do quite a lot of damage, and even the Minions are good with it.
I love Lumberjack decks, and it feels like we don’t see him around that much ever since Lavaloon became less popular. Mega Knight is a good substitute and the deck feels very similar to that one, excluding the excess of flying troops. You do have to watch out for decks like X-Bow or ones that have lots of buildings, as it’s easy for those decks to stall this one out.
