How to Unlock Trust Events for Zhu Yuan in Zenless Zone Zero

1. You must own Zhu Yuan in order to access her Trust Events and increase her Trust Rank.
2. Complete the Trust mechanic tutorial with Anby, which takes place near the end of Chapter 2: Interlude. Just keep progressing through the main story quests if you haven’t unlocked it yet.

All Random Trust Events for Zhu Yuan (Open-World)

Each in-game day, there’s a chance that a Random Trust Event for Zhu Yuan will spawn. You can increase this chance by inviting Zhu Yuan to hang out via texts over multiple real-life days. The specific Trust Event that spawns is random, but some events are more common than others.

Not all dialogue choices affect your Trust Rank, so we’ll only cover the ones that do. Fortunately, Zhu Yuan is fairly easy to get along with and has no dialogue variations.

Note: After completing 7 Random Trust Events in one real-life day, no more will spawn in subsequent in-game days.

Sixth Street

There are a total of 4 possible Random Trust Events for Zhu Yuan on Sixth Street.

1. Howl’s Newsstand

The allure of scratch cards tempts even the stalwart Zhu Yuan, but she’s on duty…

• Time: Morning
• Today’s job is patrolling! Stay focused! …Ugh!
  • Zhu Yuan… would you like to scratch this? (Trust Increase)
  • If it bothers you that much, take this and scratch it! (Unknown – let us know if you’ve tried this)

2. In Front of Random Play

Zhu Yuan needs a place to crash for the night on Sixth Street… and you’re the only person she knows here.

• Time: Midnight
• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase.

3. Next to Noodle Store

Zhu Yuan is struggling to deal with a cat who doesn’t want to let her pass by.

• Time: Morning
• Triggers on approach (rather large trigger zone)
• I never took you for a cat person, Manager. This world really isn’t kind to us who aren’t into fluffy animals.

Lumina Square

There are a total of 9 possible Random Trust Events for Zhu Yuan at Lumina Square.

1. Orchidea’s Flower Shop

Zhu Yuan appears to be picking up a personal order at the flower shop.

• Time: Morning
• This one is odd, as your first dialogue choice determines the result, but you don’t see it till the end.
• Some are indeed a bit delicate, but I’m certain you’ll manage.
  • I didn’t know Zhu Yuan has a green thumb?! (Trust Increase)
  • Why would a Public Security Officer need gardening skills? (Trust Decrease)

2. 141 Convenience Store

Zhu Yuan and Qingyi are conducting the traditional police ritual of getting donuts.

• Time: Morning
• In the ancient classics of the Old Civilization, there are records of ring-shaped desserts such as Dough Hoops.
  • Lucky Star Donuts aren’t ring-shaped. (Trust Increase, at the end)

3. Near Officer Mewmew

PubSec happens to be trying to get rid of old equipment, and Zhu Yuan wonders if you want it. You just have to answer a few questions.

4. Entrance to Police Precinct

A very grateful civilian wants to thank Zhu Yuan by giving her a gift.

5. Next to Hotpot Restaurant

Zhu Yuan is dealing with two petulant students who aren’t complying with safety measures.

• Time: Morning

6. Old Duyi’s Massage Parlor

7. In Front of Lumina Galleria (Mall)

Zhu Yuan isn’t acting like her usual self. Is she sick?

8. Coffee Shop

You run into Zhu Yuan getting a coffee…with an exceeding amount of ice.

• Time: Afternoon
• Absolutely. I want the cup so full of ice you can’t fit another cube in there – please!

9. Milktea Shop

Zhu Yuan seems to be agonizing over something at the milktea shop.

• Really? Is it that obvious? It really shouldn’t be… This store is actually pushing their new line of “Tea Egg teamilk.”

• You’ll also gain 1 Trust Increase at the end regardless of your answers.

Invite & Hangout Trust Events with Zhu Yuan

Each real-life day, you can text and invite up to three characters to hang out, and one of these invites can be Zhu Yuan.

The only dialogue choice that matters during the texting portion is which hangout location you choose. You’ll always randomly be given two locations to pick from. Unlike other characters, Zhu Yuan only has a total of 3 Hangout Events.

Once again, we will only focus on dialogue options that affect your Trust with Zhu Yuan.

Most importantly, make sure to show up on time for the hangout! If you miss it, Zhu Yuan will send you a guilt-inducing text about waiting for you. Help this workaholic actually take a break for once in her life.

1. A Real Public Security Officer! (Box Galaxy)

• Text Option: How about 404 Error?

You invite Zhu Yuan to unwind at a concert, but an officer is never truly off-duty.

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Significant Trust Increase.

2. Spicy Hot Hot Hot (Hotpot Restaurant)

• Text Option: The hotpot restaurant at Lumina Square?

Grab a meal with Zhu Yuan at the hotpot restaurant. Continue to look like a couple to the general public.

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Significant Trust Increase.

3. Holding Hands!? (Movie Theater)

• Text Option: How about Gravity Cinema?

Go see a movie with Zhu Yuan and commit the lewdest act in the world with her – holding hands.

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase and 1 Significant Trust Increase.

Zhu Yuan Trust Rank-Up Quests & Rewards

When your Trust Rank with Zhu Yuan is ready to advance to the next level, you’ll automatically receive a Trust Rank-Up quest. These quests will always successfully progress, so just choose the answers you like the most!

If for some reason Zhu Yuan isn’t at the expected quest spot, make sure you track the quest as your active one. This will force the game to prioritize spawning her in.

1. Friendly (Quiz Prize)

• Location: In front of Lumina Galleria with Qingyi.

Congratulations, you’ve won a Zhu Yuan! Now take her out to relax and actually use up her vacation time.

After completing this quest, you’ll receive a text from Zhu Yuan the next day that’ll start a short mini-quest to earn Zhu Yuan as a promoter for your store.

Using Zhu Yuan as a promoter will give you 5x Basic Ether Chip, in addition to the usual Dennies and Bangboo EXP items. If you need to level up your Ether Agents’ skills, we strongly suggest using her as a promoter.

2. Close (Meeting Time Is Just a Suggestion)

• Location: In front of Lumina Galleria.

Zhu Yuan is supposed to be meeting up with her squad for some team-building activities, but none of them have arrived on time. Help her track down them down for mandatory bonding.

Completing this quest will unlock access to Zhu Yuan’s special Resonium in Hollow Zero. It activates her M1 effect (Quick Reload) – letting you immediately reload 6 Enhanced Bullets upon using up your current ammo. You can refresh this effect whenever you use her Ultimate or trigger a Chain Attack.

You have a chance to obtain her unique Resonium by entering a rest area between floors, but only if Zhu Yuan delivers the killing blow to the previous floor’s boss (which should be a fairly common sight).

3. Trusted (Secret Mission)

• Location: In front of Random Play.

Zhu Yuan needs your help to view some old tapes that were obtained as evidence. Just remember… you signed an NDA.

Completing this quest will unlock the dynamic wallpaper for Zhu Yuan as an option in your pause menu.

Additionally, if you trigger Zhu Yuan’s event at a rest area in Hollow Zero, you’ll now also gain an extra effect that disables all traps on the next floor. However, this effect will prematurely end if you temporarily visit a special area via a random event. (We’re not sure if this is an intended effect or a bug.)
