How to Unlock Trust Events for Lighter in Zenless Zone Zero

1. You must own Lighter to access his Trust Events.
2. Complete all of Chapter 4 as well as the short post-chapter quest (Leisurely Lull: Unexpected New Customers) that features Tsukishiro Yanagi of Section 6.

Once you meet the above criteria, you’ll be able to find Lighter in the open world for Random Trust Events and can text him to hangout.

Contrary to what some places are saying, you do not need to complete Lighter’s Agent Story to access his Trust Events. However, we do suggest doing it first if you can, as Lighter does reference some things you learn from it in his Trust Rank-Up quests.

All Random Lighter Trust Events (Open-World)

Oddly enough, all of Lighter’s Random Trust Events are in Lumina Square – despite being an unfamiliar location for him and a bit far from his usual stomping grounds of the Outer Ring. While a bit strange, it does reduce the amount of fast traveling you need to do, so we’ll give it a pass.

Additionally, all of Lighter’s Random Trust Events can be done more than once, so you can fully explore all the dialogue options with him without worrying about missing out on anything.

Lumina Square

There are 6 Random Trust Events for Lighter at Lumina Square in Zenless Zone Zero.

1. Beaverson’s Beauty Salon

You find Lighter being ravenously praised for his fashion choice by a random lady. The poor guy doesn’t really know how to respond, so go help him out.

2. Crosswalk by Richard Teamilk

You find Lighter mulling over something. His choice of sunglasses may have led to some misconceptions…

3. Next to HIA Building (with Happy Dog)

You find Lighter unable to persuade a guide dog that he’s alright. Help the man clear up the misunderstanding with his furry friend.

4. Dew Gardening Shop

To your surprise, you find Lighter seemingly buying flowers. Go learn what the occasion is for.

5. Lumina Galleria (with Billy)

You run into Billy and Lighter by chance and get dragged into a huge request from Billy. Gotta help a brother out.

• Time: Morning – Evening

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase at the end.

6. Behind Hotpot Restaurant by Railing

Lighter seems to be contemplating some things while staring out at the river. Enjoy a slightly morbid conversation with him.

• Time: Evening – Midnight

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase by the end.

Invite & Hangout Events with Lighter

Each real-life day, you can text and invite up to three characters to hang out. Naturally, Lighter is one of these options.

During the texting portion, the only choice that matters is which hangout location you choose. You’ll always be randomly given two locations to pick from. In total, there are 4 different Hangout Events for Lighter.

Just like with the Random Trust Events, we’ll only focus on dialogue options that affect your Trust with Lighter.

Most importantly, make sure you show up to the Hangout Event at the scheduled time! Otherwise, you’ll get a disappointed text from Lighter about how he waited for you. While he’s probably the most composed person in the game about being stood up, it’s still rude as all hell.

1. Bangboo King of the Castle (Playground)

Lighter took your advice about Bangboo to heart and has gathered up a bunch of faulty ones to try and fix them… but now they won’t leave him.

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase and 1 Significant Trust Increase by the end.

2. Film Screening Time (Random Play)

You invite Lighter to come visit at Random Play and watch a movie. Despite being lazy, he’s willing to make the trip. What a bro.

• Choose any answer. You will always get 1 Trust Increase and 1 Significant Trust Increase by the end.

3. Outer Ring 1-Day Tour (Blazewood)

You and Lighter agree to meet in Blazewood, where he plans on introducing Yeh Yeh the cactus to you. Afterwards, decide on what to do.

• Anything is fine, as long as I can do it.
  • Swing (Neutral)
    • They’ll transform into gods called “Poto Poto,” residing in cacti, big and small.
      • Sounds like a sweet story. (Trust Increase)
      • I hope the legend is true. (Significant Trust Increase)
  • Go for a drive (Neutral)

• Regardless of which answer you choose, you’ll also get 1 Trust Increase at the end.

4. A Quiet Corner (Playground)

Lighter still isn’t familiar with the city, so you suggest a quiet place to meet up and acclimate to the urban sprawl. Sometimes just hanging out and acting like a kid again is the best thing to do.

• Regardless of which answer you choose, you’ll also get 1 Trust Increase at the end.

Lighter Trust Rank-Up Quests

When your Trust Rank with Lighter is ready to advance to the next level in Zenless Zone Zero, you’ll automatically receive a Trust Rank-Up quest. These quests will always successfully progress, so just choose the answers you like the most!

If for some reason Lighter isn’t at the expected quest spot, make sure you track the quest as your active one. This will force the game to prioritize spawning him in.

1. Friendly (The Adored and the Abandoned)

• Location: In the alley across from the coffee shop in Lumina Square (Morning – Evening)

You find Lighter cornered by a man who’s been looking for him for a while. Is it to collect on some debts or to settle a grudge? Do your best to de-escalate the situation and learn a bit more about what it means to be the strongest.

Promoter Quest (Return to Nihility)

After completing the Rank-Up quest, you’ll receive a text from Lighter the next day that’ll start a simple quest to earn him as a promoter for your store.

He’s looking for the film Nihility (which you’ll have unlocked by default). Interestingly, unlike other characters who’ll come pick up the video the next day, Lighter will instead immediately spawn inside of Random Play as soon as you confirm that you have the video.

Since Caesar and Lucy accidentally destroyed the only video player that they had, you offer to let Lighter watch the movie at your place. After watching the film, you’ll finally get the chance to finally ask Lighter about why he’s always wearing sunglasses and unlock him as a promoter.

Using Lighter as a promoter will give you 5x Basic Fire Chip, in addition to the usual Dennies and Bangboo EXP items. If you’re trying to level up your Fire Agents’ skills, Lighter is your best option.

2. Close (Being Blamed Out of Nowhere)

• Location: Next to the noodle shop in Lumina Square (Morning – Evening)

You run into Lighter while he’s on a shopping trip, but before you get a chance to catch up, Lighter is forced to flee from the police. Figure out what’s going on and enjoy the unexpected interactions.

Lighter’s Unique Resonium

Completing this quest will unlock access to Lighter’s unique Resonium in Hollow Zero. There are two ways to obtain it:

1. When you enter the rest area between floors, there’s a chance a special event will trigger. If Lighter was the one to land the killing blow on the previous floor’s boss, you’ll get his unique Resonium.
2. If you’re doing Blitz Mode in Withering Garden, there’s a chance to get it if Lighter lands the killing blow on the last boss of one of the sections.

As for the effects of Lighter’s Resonium, it activates his M1 effect (The Champion) – enhancing both of his passive abilities. The stun duration on enemies is increased by another 5 seconds, and the Fire/Ice RES shred effect is increased by another 10%. Additionally, the finishing move from spending his Morale deals 30% more damage.

While the buff doesn’t change Lighter’s playstyle at all, it does make him considerably more effective at his role in a team and is heavily appreciated.

3. Trusted (Grieving)

• Location: Next to Eve’s Newsstand in Lumina Square (Morning – Evening)

You find an Unknown Girl thanking Lighter for something. Even if no one else blames him, Lighter can’t forgive himself. Learn about the incident that defined Lighter’s life and led him to where he is today.

Completing this quest will unlock the dynamic wallpaper for Lighter as an option in your pause menu.

Additional Hollow Zero Buff for Lighter

Completing this quest will also grant you an additional effect when you trigger Lighter’s unique Rest Area event in Hollow Zero.

Lighter isn’t a huge fan of using sedatives to reduce pressure while inside of a Hollow. Instead, he relies on his tried and true lollipops to take the edge off. Sadly, he didn’t get his favorite flavor (grape) and has to settle for strawberry.

To compensate, he double dips into his lollipop stash and upgrades his unique Resonium to grant the Declaration of Victory effect – each time you win a fight with Lighter still alive, increase the amount of Daze dealt by your Agents by 5% (up to a max of 20%).

It’s definitely worth trying to get this effect early on during more challenging Hollow Zero runs, as stun windows become almost necessary to deal with the enemies’ increased health.
