While Palia may be a cozy MMO, you’ll be asked to complete several puzzles throughout the main quest line. One of the first quests you’ll get deals with the Phoenix Falls, and there’s a puzzle that can be a bit difficult. This guide will help you get through it without any issues.
Without further ado, here’s how to solve the Phoenix Falls puzzle quest in Palia. This will be broken up by quest name, so navigate to wherever you are in the quest.
Mysterious Object
The first part of this quest starts with finding a mysterious object the first time you mine on your home plot. Hodari will recommend you give the object to Jina, so you’ll need to show it to her. Once you do that, she’ll tell you that she’ll mail you once she gets a good look at that.
The quest will end, and you’ll need to wait for her to mail you about the object.
Ancient Battery
You’ll find out in Jeni’s letter that the item is actually a battery. She’ll give it back to you in the mail and ask you to find a door behind a waterfall. This waterfall is by the Phoenix Falls, and you’ll need to follow the Northern path and cross the bridge highlighted in the image below in order to get to it.
This is actually the same place that you entered Palia through, but you’ll continue straight in order to get to the quest’s door. Keep in mind that you can get a rough idea of where to go on from the quest marker on the map. However, it’s not very clear how to actually get to it.
After you fit the battery to the door, the quest will prompt you to explore the chamber inside. There’s not much here, but there is a door at the far end of it that has an inscription that reads:
The strange writing says:
“Knowledge grows the mind even in times of strife, To enter here, you must supply that which grows life.”
This is the first puzzle Palia asks you to solve, and it’s definitely a little confusing.
Solving the Riddle in Ancient Battery Quest
Before the door, there will be a basin that you can interact with. It says that the bowl is rusty, and you’ll actually need to fill it with water to solve the riddle. Luckily, there’s water all around you if your watering can isn’t full.
You can water it the same way that you water plants. There will be a progress bar, and you’ll need to fill that up in order to trigger the back door to open.
The door opens to a Phoenix statue, and Jina and Hekla will appear. Jina will then ask you to investigate as far as you can.
Investigating the Chamber
There’s not much to explore yet, but you can enter the room with the Phoenix shrine in it. It looks like there are walls surrounding you, but one of the walls is crumpled enough that you can walk through it.
You’ll find yourself at the edge of a cliff overlooking some ruins. In order to check that you’ve explored the entire thing, make sure you walk all the way to the cliff’s edge. From there, the quest will then prompt you to speak to Jina.
Once you’ve done that, congratulations! You’ve successfully finished the Ancient Battery quest in Palia and solved the Phoenix Falls puzzle. You’ll be able to return to this chamber any time without having to water the basin.
