Gathering resources is a big part of the cozy MMO, Palia. Ores are an important resource you’ll need to craft things, upgrade your tools, and even complete quests. There’s a lot to remember when it comes to mining, so we’ve got a handy resource guide for you. Here’s everything you need to know about mining in Palia.
Your Guide to Mining in Palia
Mining in Palia can be tricky – finding what you need can be a hassle, and it’s not as straightforward as it is in other games. In fact, there are plenty of rocks scattered across the maps that aren’t able to be mined.
Before jumping into the details, here’s a refresher on how to mine in Palia.
How to Mine
To start mining, equip your pick by holding ‘R’ and left-clicking the pick. Now, simply swing your pick by left-clicking. You can also hold down the left click to swing continuously.
Upgrades and Supplies
To get the most out of your pick and the resources around you, you’ll need to upgrade it. Here are the upgrades available:
- Standard Pick: 1x Makeshift Pick, 20x Sapwood Plank, 5x Copper Bar, 250 Gold
- Fine Pick: 1x Standard Pick, 10x Heartwood Plank, 5x Iron Bar, 1,500 Gold
- Exquisite Pick: 1x Fine Pick, 5x Flow-Infused Plank, 2x Palium Bar, 3,000 Gold
These are all recipes you’ll need to purchase from Hodari, the character who runs the Mining Guild Store. Once you have these recipes, you can use them at a Worktable to upgrade your tool.
Don’t forget to repair your pick over time as well, or you’ll need to upgrade it again. You can tell its condition by looking at the circle gauge around the tool when you’re using it.
Upgrade recipes aren’t all that Hodari sells. He also has a few things that can help you while you’re out mining:
- Repair Station Recipe: 500 Gold, 10x Copper Bar, 6x Stone Brick
- Ore Compass Recipe: 2,500 Gold, 1x Silver Bar, 1x Iron Bar, 5x Stone Brick
The Repair Station lets you repair your tools from the comfort of your own home plot instead of having to make a trip to Sifuu’s forge. The Ore Compass tracks rare and special ores near you for 15 minutes, letting you farm exactly what you need without wasting time looking.
Multiplayer Mining Buffs
While there are no direct buffs for mining with friends in Palia, it’s still a pretty efficient way to farm rare ores, as everyone who mines any specific rock will get the loot from it. Luckily, this means there’s no competing to be the first to claim the ore spawn, so players are rather cooperative.
In fact, the in-game chat often shows player letting one another know of rare resources so everyone can get some of the loot.
Mining Locations in Palia
Each location in Palia has its own resources available. Here’s what you can find where:
- Kilima Village: Clay, Copper Ore, Flint, Silver Ore, Stone
- Bahari Bay: Flint, Gold Ore, Iron Ore, Palium Ore, Stone
- Home Plot: Flint, Stone
In general, the best location to go mining in Palia is at Bahari Bay, as it contains the ores needed for the highest level of upgrades. That being said, remember that you can find Copper and Clay only in Kilima Village if you’re specifically looking for those materials.
