Not all of the fighting and healing in Honkai: Star Rail is done in combat – you can actually revive characters, boost stats, and ultimately give yourself the advantage with consumables. These are items you can craft that provide various effects to your characters, and they’re rather easy to forget about despite being incredibly potent. That’s why we’ve put together a guide and list of the best consumables in Honkai: Star Rail.
But before we dive into our list, let’s go over how consumables work in Honkai: Star Rail.
The Different Types of Consumables in Honkai: Star Rail
In Honkai: Star Rail, there are a few different kinds of consumables. You can tell what kind of consumable each one is by the symbol in the upper left corner.
There are four types of consumables: Attack, Defense, Special, and Restorative.
Attack Consumables focus on buffing offensive stats during combat, such as SPD or ATK. Defense Consumables are focused on bolstering your survivability, increasing max HP or DEF stats.
Restorative Consumables heal or revive teammates, which is one of the only ways to do so if you’re not in combat or near a teleporter.
Special Consumables do random things, like make it harder for enemies to detect you in the overworld or cause an ally to lose HP (while this sounds bad, it can be good for characters like Arlan).
How to Make Consumables in Honkai: Star Rail
Making Consumables in Honkai: Star Rail is pretty easy to do as long as you have the recipe. You can find recipes in various stores and areas around the worlds, and you’ll have some decent ones just from going through the Trailblaze Missions.
To create a Consumable, navigate to your Synthesize screen. This can be found by clicking on the icon of a phone with a character shadow on it in the upper left corner. When you’re on the Synthesize screen, all of the Consumable recipes you know will pop up immediately (it’s also the very left option at the top).
You’ll be able to see what every Consumable does and what ingredients you’ll need for each recipe. If you have any questions about where to source an ingredient, you can click on it – every way to obtain it will pop up.
You can also use the Omni-Synthesizer that’s on the Astral Express. This will sometimes allow you to create special versions of recipes.
Limitations on Consumables
Consumables can’t be used everywhere in Honkai: Star Rail. In fact, some of the most challenging areas don’t allow you to use Consumables, like the Simulated Universe and the Memory Hall.
However, Consumables can come in handy if you’re struggling to get through Trailblaze Missions (which most people will struggle with at some point). Plus, they’re great for the mini-bosses that guard good loot.
The Best Consumables in Honkai: Star Rail
Consumables have different star values from one-star to four-star. While the four-star options are generally going to be the best, there are some that are considered lower tiered but are still incredibly valuable.
Most Consumables are situational, but it’s always good to have the following ones ready to go in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Best Attack Consumable: Disposable Kinetic Cannon
- Best Defense Consumable: Longevity Pill of Cruelty
- Best Special Consumable: Camo Paint
- Best Restorative Consumable: All Good Potion and Belobog Sausage
Other Valuable Consumables to Have on Hand
These aren’t the best Consumables in Honkai: Star Rail, but they definitely make your life a lot easier if you have them on hand. Sometimes a quick HP replenisher or boosting your stats can be great.
Restorative Consumables like Comfort Food and Berrypheasant Skewers are easy to make, so they’re great to have. Even Life Transmitter is a good Consumable to keep stock of since you never know when you might need to revive an ally.
It’s also a good idea to keep Enhancement Paste for the Element of your main DPS character. For example, if you use Seele, keep Enhancement Paste: Quantum in your inventory.
