Best Weapons in Octopath Traveler 2

Part of completing the right build for your team in Octopath Traveler 2 is ensuring they have access to the best weapons in the game. Late-game foes can be tough even for the most well-organized parties, so it’s worthwhile to seek out these powerful weapons. While some arms are better than others, the Battled-Tested series of weapons are the top of their class for each of their respective weapon types. As such, players will want to get their hands on these mighty armaments to complete the ultimate party build. That’s why today we are breaking down the best weapons in Octopath Traveler 2, looking at how to obtain them, and how to use them to their full potential.

Octopath Traveler 2 Best Weapons

Let’s jump right into our guide to the best weapons in Octopath Traveler 2: the Battle-Tested weapons!

Battle-Tested Axe

The best Axe in Octopath Traveler 2 is the Battle-Tested Axe. It has a Physical Attack stat of 400 and an Elemental Attack stat of 250. The Battle-Tested Axe also raises the potency of Ice and Lightning-based attacks.

Where to Find It

There are a couple of ways to obtain the Battle-Tested Axe in Octopath Traveler 2. The first way is from Guardian Shirlutto in the Nameless Village in Toto’haha. You will first need to complete Temenos’ story which will then unlock access to the Shirlutto’s Next Chapter side quest. After finishing this quest, Shirlutto will have the Battle-Tested Axe in his inventory for players to steal using a Path Action like Throné’s Steal or Partitio’s Purchase.

Another option is to fight the villager outside the tavern in Cape Cold using the Path actions Challenge or Provoke. He has a chance to drop the Battle-Tested Axe when defeated. However, this is only a 2% drop rate so obtaining it from Shirlutto is probably easier.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Axe

While the Battle-Tested Axe excels in boosting the power of Physical Attacks, it can also be great for characters who specialize in both Physical and Elemental Attacks. Castti is the ideal choice to wield this weapon as her Apothecary Job specializes in axes while also having access to Elemental skills as well. She also will gain a boost to her Icicle skill as the Battle-Tested Axe boosts the power of Ice and Lightning-Based attacks. With this setup, Castti can make great use of the secondary job Scholar to further widen the range of attack types that will benefit from this axe.

Battle-Tested Blade

The Battle-Tested Blade is not only the best sword in Octopath Traveler 2, but it also is one of the best weapons for dealing Physical damage in the game. It has a Physical Attack stat of 400 and a Critical stat of 120. On top of all that, it also raises the potency of Physical Attacks by 30%.

Where to Find It

To obtain this weapon, you will first have to have completed Hikari’s Chapter 5. Once you’ve done this, head to Crackridge Harbor and go south to the cliffs overlooking the harbor. Here you’ll find Bandelam the Reaper whom you faced earlier in Hikari’s story. He will be holding the Battle-Tested Blade for you to Steal or Purchase from him.

The other option is again to fight an NPC for a chance at getting the Battle-Tested Blade as a drop. If you Challenge or Provoke the Young Man in Tropu’hopu, he has a 2% chance of dropping the weapon. Again, this is less than ideal unless you’re very lucky, so Stealing or Purchasing it from Bandelam the Reaper is the better choice.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Blade

The Battle-Tested Blade is the optimal way to maximize a character’s Physical Attack potential. As such, Hikari is the best choice to wield as his Warrior job already has an aptitude for high Physical damage output. Combined with some of his support skills like Summon Strength, Latent Power Plus, and Deal More Damage, the already high base stats of the Battled-Tested Blade along with its 30% Physical Attack increase means Hikari will be able to deal some insane amounts of damage with this weapon.

Battle-Tested Bow

The Battle-Tested Bow is Octopath Traveler 2’s strongest bow by far. It has a  Physical Attack stat of 390 and Critical stat of 120. Additionally, it has a slim chance to lower the target’s Physical Defense when hit.

Where to Find It

Players will need to have completed Ochette’s Chapter 3 before attempting to acquire the Battle-Tested Bow. Once they’ve done so, head to the Beastling Village in Toto’haha and look for Cohazeh near the Tavern. Once again, you will need to either Steal or Purchase the Battle-Tested Bow from this NPC, meaning you will need to have Throné at a high level or enough cash on hand for Partitio.

The other option is to fight the Tutor located in front of the Inn in New Delsta. However, since the Battle-Tested Bow has only a 2% chance to drop like the rest of the Battle-Tested weapons, this choice is not recommended. It’s a better strategy to grind for levels with Throné or money with Partitio than repeatedly battle an NPC for a 2% drop chance.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Bow

As its primary location is found in Ochette’s home of Beastling Village, she is the natural choice to wield the Battle-Tested Bow. Many of Ochette’s Hunter job skills synergize with the benefits this bow offers. Precise Shot and Draefendi’s Bow can deal incredible damage as they hit multiple times. Using the support skill Eagle Eye can raise Ochette’s Critical stat even further than what the Battle-Tested Bow offers, giving her the ability to deal even greater Critical damage.

Battle-Tested Dagger

The best weapon for dagger users in Octopath Traveler 2 is the Battle-Tested Dagger. This powerful dagger has a Physical Attack stat of 380 and an Evasion stat of 180. It also has a slim chance to reduce the target’s Accuracy when hit.

Where to Find It

In order to obtain the Battle-Tested Dagger, players will first need to make sure they’ve completed Castti’s Chapter 4 along with the side quest Melia’s Next Chapter. Once these are done, travel to Winterbloom and visit Melia’s Greenhouse. Inside, the NPC Plukk will have the Battle-Tested Dagger that players can Steal or Mug from them using their choice of Path Action.

Like the other Battle-Tested weapons, the Battle-Tested Dagger can be a 2% drop from an NPC. Players can Provoke or Challenge the Elderly Man on the second floor of the Tavern in Clockbank. He’s only available during the day and the low drop rate for the dagger make this the less desirable option.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Dagger

The ideal user of the Battle-Tested Dagger is the Thief Throné since she can take the best advantage of its great stats. Her already high Speed and Evasion makes this weapon a huge boon for her. Additionally, her support skill Incidental Attack gives her a higher likelihood of inflicting the accuracy-lowering debuff of the Battle-Tested Dagger as it gives her a chance of dealing Physical Damage when using a status skill. The potential to inflict multiple debuffs in one attack is incredibly useful.

Battle-Tested Spear

The best spear in Octopath Traveler 2 is the Battle-Tested Spear. It has a Physical Attack stat of 390 and a Critical stat of 120. Plus, it has the chance to inflict the opponent with Blind for 5 turns.

Where to Find It

To obtain the Battle-Tested Spear, players will need to first complete Hikari’s Chapter 5 as well as the side quest Mikka’s Next Chapter. After these conditions are met, travel to Ku and find the NPC Benkei inside the castle. He holds the Battle-Tested Spear which players can Steal, Mug, or Purchase off of him using the Path Action of their choice.

The alternative NPC who can be fought for the 2% chance of it dropping is also located in the Hinoeuma region. There is a Townsperson near the entrance of Sai who can be fought via the Provoke or Challenge Path Actions, but obtaining the Battle-Tested Spear from Benkei is likely the simpler option.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Spear

Although Hikari can make great use of this weapon, Partitio is the best option to wield it. With the Warrior as his secondary job, Partitio can dish out high amounts of damage by utilizing his support skill Full Power to immediately access his latent power Hoot and Holler. The combination of these skills allow him to immediately have full BP at the start of a battle, meaning he can quickly deal damage using the Warrior’s Piercing Thrust skill and wielding the Battle-Tested Spear only intensifies this damage and increases the chance for critical hits.

Battle-Tested Staff

The best staff in Octopath Traveler 2 is the Battle-Tested Staff. It has a Physical Attack stat of 200 and an Elemental Attack Stat of 400. It also has the bonus effect of a slim chance to lower the target’s Speed when hit with an attack.

Where to Find It

After completing Partitio’s Chapter 4, players can head to Oresrush where they can either Steal or Purchase the Battle-Tested Staff from Vice President Roque. While it comes with a hefty price tag it’s better to use their strategy than the alternative. Players can also try to get the Battle-Tested Staff by Provoking or Challenging the Cleric inside the church in Canalbrine with a 2% chance of the weapon dropping.

How to Use the Battle-Tested Staff

Although it offers some Physical Attack potential, the Battle-Tested Staff is ideal for Elemental attackers. As such, Osvald’s Scholar job and Temenos’ Cleric job make them the party members best suited to use it. While Holy Light and Luminescence are Temenos’ primary Elemental attacks, the Battle-Tested Staff can also be good for using his Mystical Staff skill. Osvald’s range of Elemental skills benefit greatly from this weapon, but it becomes even more useful if Osvald is given the secondary secret job of Arcanist.
