Red Dead Online is the wild west simulator we’ve always wanted. From collecting bounties, to robbing trains, to starting your own fur trading business, Red Dead Online has it all. Of course, its hard to do any of that without a good horse. And what’s a good horse without a good saddle? To that end, we’ve rounded up the best saddles in RDR2 Online.
Top 5 Saddles in Red Dead Online, Ranked
We’ll start off with one of the cheapest high-end saddles in the game, before rounding things off by covering the one with the best stats overall. You’ll be glad you acquired this wisdom at a lower price.
5/5
Beaver Roping Saddle
- Stamina Core Drain Rate: -20%
- Health Core Drain Rate: -26%
- Stamina Regen Rate: +24%
- Stamina Drain Rate: 0%
- Average Stats: 34%
Let’s start off with one that won’t break your budget. Stat-wise, it isn’t that impressive across the board, but what makes this saddle good is its low price compared to other mid- and high-tier saddles. One of the downsides about it is that you can’t change the stirrups that come with it. It also doesn’t look the best compared to other saddles on this list, but at least it goes well with any horse breed.
It has a decent health core drain rate at -26%, and a stamina regen rate of +24%. Both of these stats are higher then the saddle in our top spot, but it is lacking in other categories — keep that in mind when you go to make your purchase.
You can unlock this saddle once you hit Rank 83. As previously mentioned, it’s a fairly inexpensive saddle compared to other options on this list. It will only set you back $204, so if you’re low on cash and need an upgrade for your horse, this is the saddle for you. When going to the stables, be sure to look under the “Special Saddles” category to find the Beaver Roping Saddle.
4/5
Delgado Saddle
- Stamina Core Drain Rate: -22%
- Health Core Drain Rate: -22%
- Stamina Regen Rate: +32%
- Stamina Drain Rate: 0%
- Average Stats: 35.2%
The Delgado Saddle is personally one of my favorite saddles. Not because of its good stamina regen rate or anything, but just because of the way it looks. Black and gold generally looks good on anything, but the added red highlights and the bounty hunter aesthetic? Oh man.
This saddle has the highest stamina regen rate out of any saddle in the game at +32%. It also has a decent health core drain rate of +26%. Combine it with a stirrup and you can reach a collective drain rate of +50%!
To add this saddle to your collection, you’ll first need to hit the novice rank in the Bounty Hunter role. In total, you’ll need to spend 15 gold on the Bounty Hunter license, and you’ll need to spend one role token and $525 to unlock it. Trust me, though, it’s well worth the effort.
3/5
Foxmore Saddle
- Stamina Core Drain Rate: -32%
- Health Core Drain Rate: -22%
- Stamina Regen Rate: +30%
- Stamina Drain Rate: 0%
- Average Stats: 36.8%
The Foxmore Saddle was added alongside the Naturalist update in Summer of 2020, and remains a viable choice to this day. I might have to take back what I said earlier about the Delgado Saddle being my favorite, as the visual design on this saddle is stunning to look at! Aside from its beautiful design, this saddle has pretty decent stats to go along with it.
This saddle has a notably good stamina core drain rate of -32%. Its stamina regen rate of +30% is also a great perk to have when exploring the great American wilderness. Its health core drain rate of -22% could be better, but no saddle is perfect.
You’re going to need to acquire the Naturalist role if you want to unlock this for your horse. The Naturalist role can be purchased for 25 gold bars, so I wouldn’t recommend snatching it just for one saddle. The cost of the saddle itself is $570, making it one of the priciest saddles in the game! The stats are good, but unless you’ve been playing the game for a while, I’d advise you to take a look at some of the other saddles on our list.
2/5
McKinny Saddle
- Stamina Core Drain Rate: -34%
- Health Core Drain Rate: -34%
- Stamina Regen Rate: +20%
- Stamina Drain Rate: 0%
- Average Stats: 37.6%
Visually, this isn’t the most impressive saddle at the stable. Functionally, it’s one of the best saddles in RDR2 Online. This one seems to be a popular choice amongst many Red Dead Online players, and for good reason.
Its core drain rates are some of the best in the game. It has a matching stamina core drain rate and health core drain rate of -34%. It’s stamina regen rate is less impressive at a measly +20%. If you are the type of person to push your horse to its limit, I’d say this is the right one for you.
Like the Delgado Saddle and the Foxmore Saddle, this is a unique saddle that can only be unlocked by owning the right role. To acquire it, you will need to spend 15 gold bars on the Collector role. This is one of the best roles in the game, so don’t just purchase it for the saddle. Once unlocked after spending one role token, you can buy this saddle at any stable in the game for $525.
1/5
Nacogdoches Saddle
- Stamina Core Drain Rate: -18%
- Health Core Drain Rate: -20%
- Stamina Regen Rate: +20%
- Stamina Drain Rate: -35%
- Average Stats: 38.6%
The Nacogdoches saddle is arguably the best saddle in Red Dead Online, as it features the best combined stats out of any other saddle. I’m sure you can find one that has better stats in the particular area you’re looking for, but if you don’t mind lacking in the stamina and health core drain rate categories, then this might be what you’re looking for.
It’s the only saddle to provide reduced stamina drain rate without stirrups, meaning you can ride for longer without having to rest your horse. Combine this saddle with the most expensive stirrups, and your horse will have its stats boosted by three bars, with a combined stamina drain rate of -85%!
It only costs $512, which is still high, but cheaper compared to some of the other saddles in the game. It also doesn’t require a role first, meaning you don’t have to spend a single gold bar to get it. You can unlock it at Rank 35, which isn’t particularly hard to get to, especially compared to our first saddle. Like all the other saddles, it can be found at any horse stable in the game.
