Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How to Get the Armor of Time Set

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Armor of Time is one of the many easter eggs you can find. Like the Armor of Twilight, it’s a throwback to one of the classic Zelda games, Ocarina of Time. While the armor doesn’t provide any unique bonuses, fans can play TotK as their favorite of version of Link.

But where exactly is the Armor of Time in Tears of the Kingdom? Down in the Depths – so craft some weapons and grab some gloom resistance!

Since we’re heading to the Depths, be sure to have plenty of Brightbloom Seeds and cook some Gloom Resistance food just in case. You’ll never know what you might run into down there.

Cap of Time

The first piece of the Armor of Time is probably the most tedious to get in Tears of the Kingdom. The Cap of Time is located near a lava flow at Sturnida Lavafalls.

Unfortunately, the closest chasm is the Hyrule Ridge Chasm, so we will start from there.

When you land, grab the nearby Tikanur Lightroot. From here on, there will be plenty of mountains in our way, so make a vehicle or start running as you’ll want to head North towards the Kawumoro Lightroot.

Then you’ll want to head to Corvash Canyon Mine to the North-West.

Once at the mine, grab the Worihas Lightroot. Nearby is a chest that contains the Trousers of the Hero (for a different armor set), so grab it while you’re here.

Once you’ve done so, head slightly South-West to reach our next destination, the So-oaw Lightroot.

Once you reach the So-oaw Lightroot, you’ll need to head North-West. Now here’s where it gets a little crazy. Once past the gap in the mountain, you might run into 3 different bosses: a Stone Talus, a Colgera, and a Frox. Be ready to fight or flight on your way to the Nupisoyuat Lightroot.

At the Nupisoyuat Lightroot you’ll want to look to the East towards the lava flow in the distance. The chest you’re looking for is there.

Luckily, it’s a short distance with no enemies in your way. When you’re up top, the chest will be in the middle of the lavafalls on the tallest of the three pillars.

Honestly Nintendo, why couldn’t you put a chasm a little bit closer?

Tunic of Time

With the Cap out of the way, the rest of the Time Armor set is a piece of cake to get in Tears of the Kingdom. For the Tunic of Time, we want to head back to the Hyrule Ridge Chasm or teleport back to the Tikanur Lightroot.

From there you’ll want to head east to the Lindor Canyon Mine. Unlike the Cap, its a simple jog over and there isn’t any Frox blocking your way this time.

The chest containing the Tunic can be found at the mine’s central structure, marked by the two Brightseed Torches.

And that’s all you need to get the Tunic of Time – simple!

Trousers of Time

If you thought the Tunic was easy, the Trousers of Time are a pushover.

You’ll want to head to the Gerudo Highlands and climb to the top of the Gerudo Summit. Here you’ll find the Gerudo Summit Chasm. Go ahead and jump down.

When you land look towards the south. A few steps in that direction and you’ll find the Gerudo Canyon Mine.

In a similar structure from the previous mine, you’ll find the Trousers of Time.

Congrats, you’ve now obtained the entire Armor of Time set in Tears of the Kingdom!

Armor of Time Stats & Upgrade Costs in TotK

I hope you’ve been gathering Star Fragments! Similar to its counterpart in Breath of the Wild, the Armor of Time needs a ton of Topaz and Star Fragments to upgrade.

  • Each piece has no bonuses (besides looking really nice).
  • Wearing the full upgraded (2-stars or higher) set grants an Attack Up buff.
RankDefense ValueUpgrade Materials

1-Star510x Rupees
1x Topaz
1x Star Fragment
2-Star850x Rupees

3-Star12200x Rupees
6x Topaz

4-Star20500x Rupees

Individually the Armor of Time doesn’t provide any bonuses. However, wearing a full set that’s upgraded at least twice will give an Attack Up Set bonus. Obviously, it’s not the best armor set in TotK but definitely worth it if you are a fan of Ocarina of Time.
