Finding the character Hestu is an essential part of your early game strategy in Tears of the Kingdom. Interacting with the massive master of Koroks will allow you to expand your inventory, which is something most players will desperately need after being forced to ditch perfectly good weapons due to lack of space. So let’s talk about where to find Hestu and all the locations he can show up in TotK.
Why You Want to Find Hestu
When you first start playing Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll probably notice how small your inventory space is.
Weapons, bows, and shields are only give a handful of slots at the beginning of the game, and it can be tough being forced to drop perfectly good weapons in favor of better ones. Especially when it would be nice to just have both, since you’ll inevitably need them later on.
Thankfully, there is an easy way to increase your inventory space. All you have to do is find Hestu out in the wilds of Hyrule and exchange Korok seeds with him to expand your inventory slots for weapons, bows, and shields.
Of course, finding Hestu is the problem most players will have.
All Hestu Locations in Zelda: TotK
If you played Breath of the Wild, you’re aware that Hestu can move around a bit throughout Hyrule. This is once again the same case in TotK, but luckily our Korok friend doesn’t move around too much and does follow a set pattern. There are only three Hestu locations in TotK, and they aren’t too hard to find.
Once you find Hestu in the first location, you’ll only have a few interactions (and therefore chances to expand your inventory) before our friendly neighborhood Korok decides to move shop.
You will be able to find him at the second location for a while, but Hestu will eventually decide to move again. Luckily this second move is dependent on your game progress, so if you haven’t started the Deku Tree side quest, you won’t need to worry about the third location just yet.
First Hestu Location: Lindor’s Brow
The first spot you’ll find Hestu in is at Lindor’s Brow. You can find the helpful Korok at coordinates (-1714, 1067, 0202).
Talking to Hestu here will begin the side quest Hestu’s Concerns and give players the rundown of Koroks and how Korok Seeds work. Seasoned players can skip right through, but newbies will probably want to pay attention.
After expanding two slots in your inventory, Hestu will let you know he’s heading to the east. Meaning you’ll need to find him at his next location if you want to upgrade your inventory anymore. Luckily, this move will give you some time to stock up on Korok seeds.
Second Hestu Location: Lookout Landing
After interacting with Hestu in Lindor’s Brow, Hestu will move onto Lookout Landing.
Be warned that Hestu does not immediately set up shop in Lookout Landing after talking with them in Lindor’s Brow. You’ll need to make some story quest progress before being able to find them again. Once you have made that progress, though, you’ll be able to find Hestu within the Lookout Landing settlement.
Hestu’s coordinates for this location are (-0220, 0063,0018) right next to the shop in the southeast corner of town. This location is a semi-permanent area for Hestu. Unless you’ve cleared the third location, Hestu should usually appear here.
Third Hestu Location: Korok Forest
The third and last of the Hestu locations in Tears of the Kingdom is in the Korok Forest. Usually, Hestu will only appear here after you’ve finished up the Deku Tree side quest we mentioned earlier.
Once you’ve finished up the Deku Tree side quest and cleared all the important encounters in the area, Hestu will permanently relocate here. Luckily, there is a Shrine located nearby, so fast traveling for quick inventory expansion is both easy and convenient.
Hestu’s coordinates for this location are (0412, 2124, 0143) right near the Great Deku Tree.
Spending Your Korok Seeds
Now that you know in TotK where to find Hestu, let’s talk about how you actually get those coveted inventory slots.
When you find Hestu, all you need to do is go up and speak with him. He’ll happily talk with you and expand your inventory one space at a time, so long as you have enough Korok seeds anyway. Each slot will cost you a number of Korok seeds. The first few slots won’t cost too much, which means it isn’t a problem to expand your inventory early on.
The more Hestu expands your inventory though, the more Korok seeds you’ll need to spend in exchange. Keep in mind that you can only expand one type of inventory at a time, though you can easily switch between categories without incurring additional costs.
Inventory Slot Expansion
Inventory expansion costs start out fairly small, only needing 1 Korok seed in the beginning. That cost quickly grows though, so you’ll definitely want to start stocking up on seeds while running around Hyrule.
The number of slots available to expand does vary somewhat between categories. Most players will want to focus on expanding their weapon inventory first, which can be expanded up to 19 total slots. (Technically, you also have a hidden 20th slot for the Master Sword.)
Shield inventory has the highest number of expandable slots, also capping out at a total of 19. Meanwhile, bow inventory has the fewest number of available expansions with a max of just 14 total slots.
Korok Seed Costs
The exact cost of the inventory slot you’re expanding will depend on two things. First, how many slots of that category you’ve already expanded, and second, which type of inventory you’re trying to expand.
You can find the costs of each slot expansion below:
