The Best Matrices in Tower of Fantasy

With the various enemies, elite monsters, and world bosses wreaking havoc within the world of Tower of Fantasy, you may find yourself looking for alternative ways to power up and increase your combat score (CS). One of the best ways to do this in ToF is through matrices.

Instead of having to buy duplicates for your weapons or spending absurd amounts of time and vitality farming Joint Operations, this somewhat simple yet crucial part of your arsenal can drastically boost your fighting strength — especially if you’re finding yourself a little bit underpowered and struggling against the baddies around the world.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at our guide to some of the best matrices in Tower of Fantasy and how you can get your hands on them.

What Is a Matrix?

In ToF, you can socket matrix chips (matrices) into your weapons for added stats such as attack, HP, crit, and resistance. Consequently, you can find matrix bonus set effects when socketing the required number of specific matrix chips — usually as a two, three, or four set, based on the rarity of the matrices. You can also upgrade matrices to increase the potency of the stats they provide. These are comparatively a big factor in increasing both character strength as well as overall CS.

You can find matrices in the “Matrices” tab within the weapons page (shortcut ‘N’ on keyboard). They will show up as different colors corresponding to their individual rarities as follows:

  • N — Green
  • R — Blue
  • SR — Purple
  • SSR — Yellow/Gold

By selecting a matrix in the matrix tab, you are given the options to ‘affix’ and ‘develop.’ The ‘affix’ option is for equipping the matrix, while ‘develop’ lets you upgrade a matrix’s stats by leveling it up and giving it advancements. Stats provided by matrices depend on the category/piece of the matrix as each category/piece has their own fixed set of stats they provide as follows:

  • Mind (head) — HP, Crit
  • Emotion (heart) — Resistance, Attack
  • Memory (brain) — HP, Attack
  • Faith (hands) — HP, Attack

The Best Matrices You Should Use

You may have already noticed that most SSR four-piece set effects are only useful for their respective Simulacra and that’s absolutely correct. For example, four-piece Samir matrix will only affect Samir’s Dual EM Stars weapon. But with over nine different SSR matrix sets in the game, there are many different ways to mix and match matrices.

However, the best matrices for you in ToF will depend on what weapon type you’re using and what you’re trying to accomplish. Whether it be for breaking shields, dealing damage, or supporting yourself and teammates, you will at the very least be increasing the performance of your weapons.

Here are some suggestions for both best-in-slot matrices in ToF as well as filler options if you’re finding yourself missing pieces of the SSR matrix sets.

Best ToF Shatter Matrices

Since shatter weapons are primarily used to break enemy shields, you can’t go wrong with two-piece King Matrix paired with two-piece Shiro Matrix. This will make very short work of enemy shields. Not only will this work for solo content, but you will be able to contribute heavily toward breaking shields in multiplayer content as well.

For alternatives, a three-piece R set like Wind Blade is actually a very viable option for helping shatter.

MatrixEffect

King
Two-Piece Set — When a target is shattered, grant 8%/10%/12%/14% damage boost for 25 seconds.

Shiro
Two-Piece Set — Increase both damage and shatter to targets with more than 50% HP by 15%/19%/22.5%/26%.

Wind Blade
Three-Piece Set — Increase shatter capability by 18%.

Best ToF DPS Matrices

The best matrices in ToF for damage dealing weapons tend to be focused on providing a multiplier to offensive stats such as attack%, damage%, and critical damage%.

A very safe and generic SSR matrix set to use on damage dealing weapons would be two-piece Samir paired with either two-piece Crow or two-piece Shiro. The general player consensus is that if you have ≥70% critical chance, two-piece Crow starts outperforming two-piece Shiro.

Alternative damage matrix options come in the form of the three-piece Sobek SR matrix set. This provides a consistent damage boost that only varies depending on how many enemies are near you.

MatrixEffect

Samir
Two-Piece Set — Increase damage progressively by 1% upon hitting a target. Stack up to 10/13/16/20 times. Lasts for 1.5 seconds.

Shiro
Two-Piece Set — Increase both damage and shatter to targets with more than 50% HP by 15%/19%/22.5%/26%.

Crow
Two-Piece Set — Increase crit damage to targets with less than 60% HP by 24%/30%/36%/42%.

Sobek
Three-Piece Set — Increase damage dealt by 6%/7.5%/9% for each enemy nearby. Up to three stacks.

Best ToF Support Matrices

The best matrices in ToF for supporting weapons usually focus on helping keep your team and yourself alive or help provide damage boosting in some form.

The ideal SSR matrices to use for support would be four-piece Cocoritter, as you would benefit from both the attack% boost when healed as well as the healing% boost from the two-piece effect of the Cocoritter set.

Alternatively, three-piece SR matrix sets such as Pepper and Echo can be helpful to gain weapon charge quicker, which would allow for more discharges from your support weapons.

MatrixEffect

Cocoritter
Two-Piece Set — Increase healing capability and healing received by 10%/12%/14%/16%.

Four-Piece Set — When you or your teammates are healed, increase ATK by 12.5%/15%/17.5%/20% for 6 seconds.

Pepper
Two-Piece Set — Increase speed of obtaining weapon charge by 10%/12.5%/15%.

Echo
Two-Piece Set — Using a discharge skill to switch to the current weapon grants 80/100/120 weapon charge.

How to Get Matrices in Tower of Fantasy

With matrices being an integral part of any adventurer’s kit, knowing how to obtain them would be rather important. Just take note, most SSR matrices obtained in the game will be of a completely random set if you’re not directly purchasing from a specific SSR matrix box in the Choice Matrix Store. All things considered, you will need to have some luck on your side to complete a full four-set of an SSR matrix. Despite the horrendous odds, there are many ways to obtain matrices in ToF:

Choice Matrices Banner

The most common and straightforward way to obtain matrices in ToF is simply by either using Proof of Purchases or spending Dark Crystals. The standard matrix banner is always available to players and has a chance at providing SSR rarity standard matrices. Similar to the weapon banners, the matrix banner has a pity system. You guarantee an SSR rarity matrix of a random set at forty pulls.

Limited Matrices Banner

The Limited Matrices Banner functions exactly like the standard Choice Matrices Banner. With the added benefit of it having a chance to pull the SSR matrices set of the featured weapon in the Limited Weapon Banner rotation at the time.

Void Rift

This is a multiplayer mode that players are able to access both in a party or through a matchmaking system. You’ll be collecting buffs and finding the three keys required to take on the boss. Once cleared, you are guaranteed a Proof of Purchase in addition to a small chance of an SSR matrix.

Void Rift entries are given every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a maximum capacity of three entries.

Joint Operations

Another multiplayer mode that resembles something of a generic dungeon in other MMORPGs. You join a group to defeat bosses and are given the option to use 30 vitality to open chests for loot. These chests have a low chance of having an SSR matrix in them.

The percentage slightly increases with every chest opened starting from Join Operations Difficulty 5. Thus, you’ll eventually get one if you run the Joint Operations enough times and open enough chests.

The matrix set depends on the specific Joint Operations mission, as they each provide their own respective matrices. With that in mind, make sure you’re doing the correct Join Operations if you’re aiming for a specific matrix set!

World Bosses

You can find world bosses located on the map at their own designated areas around the world. They usually require groups of adventurers to defeat, but their boss chests become unlocked for adventurers to loot once defeated.

At any rate, world boss chests require specific chips or keys that you get from weekly task completion. If you use a Type III chip or key on a boss chest, you will have a small chance to get an SSR matrix from the chest.

Artificial Island (Build Mode)

The 1.5 Artificial Island update introduced a new method of obtaining SSR Matrices. This workshop fusing system requires your buildings to be at least Level 5 in Build Mode. This requires the materials found within Build Mode to craft. Different matrices require different materials for crafting, but they have a small chance to be that SSR matrix you’re looking for.
