With the recent announcements from Ubisoft, it’s safe to say that we won’t run out of Assassin’s Creed content for several years. We’ve got everything you could possibly think of — an old-school linear AC game, an open-world RPG, and even a mobile game that nobody asked for.
One of the most interesting new Assassin’s Creed games announced is apparently much different than any of the other titles that were revealed. But just how different is it? We’ll be answering that and several more questions in this article for everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Hexe!
4 Exciting Things We Know About Assassin’s Creed Hexe
Let’s jump right into the main article.
1. It’s Different from What We’ve Gotten Before
Something that intrigues me about this game is that Ubisoft said it would be different from the other Assassin’s Creed games we’ve gotten in the past. It is definitely not a big RPG in the same vein as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Thanks to an interview with Marc-Alexis Cote that you can read all about here, we do know a few key things about just how different it is.
For one thing, the game will be structured differently from the other Assassin’s Creed games we’ve gotten. I’m a little confused about what this means exactly. But I think it backs up my previous statement that it won’t be an RPG like Valhalla. Cote also is quoted as saying it’s “…a very different type of Assassin’s Creed game,” which is either really exciting or really worrying, depending on who you ask.
Personally, I’m really pumped for this upcoming game. I really like the dark and creepy vibe that the trailer gave off. Maybe this game will have some kind of horror elements? Or maybe the story will get really dark at some parts of the game? It’s hard to tell, but either way, I can’t wait to see what they do with Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
2. It’s set in the Holy Roman Empire
One pretty interesting thing about this game is the fact that it takes place in the Holy Roman Empire. If you are unaware, the Holy Roman Empire was a political faction that existed during the Middle Ages. It controlled/influenced much of central Europe. It was more of a confederation instead of a traditional nation-state.
The land that the Holy Roman Empire once controlled now makes up most of Germany, as well as parts of Northern Italy. Modern Germany is dominated by continental forests, so this is likely the main terrain we’ll be seeing in the game. It will be interesting to see what characters and factions we meet in the game, as the Holy Roman Empire is very rarely used as a setting for video games.
3. It Takes Place During the Witch Trials
In addition to taking place inside the Holy Roman Empire, the Witch Trials will play a very crucial role in the game. The Witch Trials were a period in time where a large number of executions took place on people who were accused of practicing witchcraft. How the story will play around with this idea and what characters and plot points will come of it will be very interesting for us to see.
4. It Won’t Be Released Until After Mirage & Codename Red
The last and most unfortunate detail on this list is that it probably won’t be released for a fairly long time. The exact release date for Assassin’s Creed Hexe is unknown at this point in time. We do know that this game won’t come out until after Mirage (the linear, old-school Assassin’s Creed game), as well as Codename Red (the big open-world, action RPG).
This is likely because it takes less of a priority than the RPG-style games that Ubisoft has been specializing in, and that development probably started after these two titles. This isn’t something to be upset by. We already have two really promising new Assassin’s Creed games on the horizon. I’m okay with waiting for this game to release.
