Everything We Know About Assassin’s Creed Codename Red

Let’s get into everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Codename Red!

The Game Takes Place in Feudal Japan

At long last, after years of pleading and begging, we are finally getting an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan! This has been one of, if not the most requested feature by fans of the series. People have always wanted to play as a ninja assassin, roaming around Japan doing missions and killing people in satisfying ways. And it looks like we’re finally going to have that fantasy become a reality.

We don’t know a whole lot about what exact locations we’ll be able to visit or what the story will be. All we know for now is that the game does in fact take place in Japan during the Feudal era of the region.

I’m not a history buff, but based on my research, Japan at the time was controlled not by one monarch, but by many warlords and upper-class elites who owned land. This seems like the perfect setup for some political conflicts.

It’s Another Big, Open-World RPG

If you loved Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, you’ll be happy to know that the open-world RPG Assassin’s Creed games won’t be going away anytime soon. This next installment in the franchise will also be a role-playing game in the same vein as the previously mentioned titles. We can assume that we’ll get the same RPG elements— namely, being able to level up our character and customize our playstyle.

Additionally, we will also be getting another big open world to play around in. This means lots of dungeons to conquer, locations to explore, quests to complete, etc. This won’t be a linear game with a shorter campaign like Assassin’s Creed Mirage. But most likely +100 hour campaign with lots of stuff to do in the open world.

There Will Be Connections to Assassin’s Creed Infinity

Next on everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, we know that the game will have connections to Assassin’s Creed Infinity. This is a hub/platform for Assassin’s Creed games and not a traditional game per se. You will likely be able to launch Codename Red using the Infinity hub.

You Can Wield a Katana in the Game

Probably the least surprising (but still cool) thing we know about this game is that you’ll be able to weild a katana in-game. We know this because in the trailer for the game, we can see a character holding a katana in his hands (in addition to a hidden blade). Seeing it is already exciting enough. I can’t wait to download the game and try it out for myself!
