It seems that Ubisoft is tired of the countless leaks of their games, as they recently announced many brand new Assassin’s Creed titles all at once. These titles are all very diverse, ranging from new information on Assassin’s Creed Infinity, an old-school linear Assassin’s Creed, and the next open-world RPG in the series. One less exciting (but still incredibly interesting) title announced was Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade.
This is an upcoming game that we know little about, but enough that we have a basic overview of what the game is. In this article, we’ll be going over all that we know about it.
Everything We Know About Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
With that introduction out of the way, let’s hop right into this article for everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade!
1) It’s a Free-to-Play, Mobile-Exclusive Title
When Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade releases sometime in the future (there’s no confirmed release date as of yet), it will be free-to-play and exclusive to mobile devices. This is great because, on one hand, it makes the game more accessible and easier to play to a wider audience. On the other hand, free-to-play mobile titles aren’t exactly known for their high-quality content.
There are exceptions, of course. But generally speaking, many mobile games are riddled with microtransactions and are designed around getting the player to spend money instead of putting fun first. Hopefully, this upcoming title will be able to make enough money to justify it getting regular content while also being a fun and enjoyable game to play, regardless of how much you spend.
2) The Location is Based in Ancient China
The most exciting piece of information about this game is the fact that it is going to be set in ancient China during the year 215 BCE! This is a very unique location, as Assassin’s Creed games have traditionally taken place in Europe, the Middle East, and various surrounding areas.
This, combined with the recent announcement of an Assassin’s Creed that takes place in Japan should be really exciting for anyone whose been wanting an Assassin’s Creed game that takes place in the far east. Visiting China as an assassin should be a very refreshing change of pace from all of the locations we’ve seen in the past.
3) It Features Character Creation
One of my personal favorite things about this new and upcoming title is that it will feature character creation! You’ll be able to create and customize your very own assassin. This feature is brand new to the Assassin’s Creed franchise and one that should make fans very excited.
We know little about how in-depth this character customizer will be. We also don’t know if the player character will have a voice actor/actress or not, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who you ask. Either way, a character creator makes perfect sense given the game’s open-world RPG genre. Speaking of which…
4) It’s an Open-World RPG
Lastly, on this article for everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, we know that it will be an open-world RPG. Given the fact that the game is coming to mobile devices, it’s unclear how “open” this game will be. Many mobile devices can’t handle large open areas, but based on the trailer that we saw of the game, it looks like we’ll have a good-sized and detailed open world to explore.
It will most definitely be an RPG, however. We have little details on what RPG mechanics will be in the game, but we can make a few reasonable assumptions. We will almost definitely be able to level up our character just like we could in past Assassin’s Creed RPGs. We’ll also likely have a similar variety of activities we can do (questing, dungeons, getting better gear, etc).
