Zombie lovers rejoice! This year promises a wide range of horror, action, and survival games centered around the zombie apocalypse, including some original titles and sequels that have become beloved staples of the genre.
Let’s take a look at the top 10 zombie games coming up!
1. The Last of Us Part II
Although the infected humans featured in The Last of Us aren’t zombies in the traditional sense, the cannibalistic shambling gaits and cannibalistic appetites certainly fit the bill. In the highly-anticipated sequel to Naughty Dog’s 2013 hit, players will help Ellie in her conflict with a mysterious and violent cult as she attempts to protect and avenge the people dearest to her.

2. Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 takes place 15 years after the events of the first game, following the infected protagonist Aiden Caldwell as he parkours his way through the massive, open-world map in an attempt to outrun the virus in his blood. Much like its predecessor, the dynamic first-person melee combat combines clever use of the environment and the world’s day-night cycle, and features a cooperative multiplayer campaign that supports up to four players.

3. Dead Island 2
Contrary to what its name suggests, Dead Island 2 takes place in various locations across California, though it promises the same zombie-killing action of the two other major installments in the franchise. This long-awaited sequel to Dead Island has been considerably delayed after changing developer hands twice, but Dambuster Studios hopes for a 2020 release.

4. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake
Originally intended to be a spin-off title, Capcom’s survival-horror hit Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is being remade from the ground up in preparation for an April release. Players can enjoy the classic single-player campaign by resuming the role of Jill Valentine and fighting their way through the virus-infected zombies of Raccoon City, or jump into online multiplayer.

5. Resident Evil Resistance
Included in the Resident Evil 3 remake comes Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game that pits Survivors against a single Mastermind. The Mastermind makes use of various environmental features to terrorize the Survivors, even taking control of zombies during play.

6. Rainbow Six Quarantine
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine is set several years in the future of the Rainbow Six series, and introduces a mutated alien parasite that infects human hosts. 7. Zombie Army 4: Dead War

8. Undying
Undying is a game about love, as players take on the role of a mother trying to care for her son after she’s been infected with a zombie virus. As she prepares to leave her son alone in a post-apocalyptic world, she must spend her last moments of sentience protecting him and teaching him how to survive on his own.

9. Plants v. Zombies 3
It’s been a few years, but Plants v. Zombies 3 is finally available in pre-alpha, with an expectation for a 2020 release on mobile. There aren’t any trailers available at the moment, but avid players should consider offering early feedback before the game’s release!

10. Zombie Rollerz
Zombie Rollerz is a fast-paced mobile game that combines elements from arcade pinball and tower defense games, all wrapped up in delightful zombie packaging. The game is currently available on Android mobile and iOS, but will see a PC and Switch release in 2020.
